We propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultra-compact and efficient power splitter on LNOI. The device is realized through the inverse design of a digital meta-structure and occupies a small footprint of only 4.8×4.8μm2. The measured results show that the insertion losses are below 2.5dB across the wavelength band of 1500-1560 nm, and the power imbalance between the two output ports is within 0.3 dB. © 2023 IEEE.

The unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-enabled mobile edge computing(MEC) architecture is expected to be a powerful technique to facilitate 5 G and beyond ubiquitous wireless connectivity and diverse vertical applications and services, anytime and anywhere. Wireless power transfer(WPT) is another promising technology to prolong the operation time of low-power wireless devices in the era of Internet of Things(IoT). However, the integration of WPT and UAV-enabled MEC systems is far from being well studied, especially in dynamic environments. In order to tackle this issue, this paper aims to investigate the stochastic computation offloading and trajectory scheduling for the UAV-enabled wireless powered MEC system. A UAV offers both RF wireless power transmission and computation services for IoT devices. Considering the stochastic task arrivals and random channel conditions, a long-term average energyefficiency(EE) minimization problem is *** to non-convexity and the time domain coupling of the variables in the formulated problem, a lowcomplexity online computation offloading and trajectory scheduling algorithm(OCOTSA) is proposed by exploiting Lyapunov optimization. Simulation results verify that there exists a balance between EE and the service delay, and demonstrate that the system EE performance obtained by the proposed scheme outperforms other benchmark schemes.

We present a tunable repetition rate frequency comb realized by cascaded electro-optical modulators with a high nonlinear AlGaAs-on-isolator waveguide. 18-26.5 GHz comb spacing tunability with broadband spectra was achieved. Three-Step Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation Algorithm for Burst-Mode Communications*

A data-aided frequency offset estimation algorithm suited for burst-mode communications is described and analyzed. The proposed algorithm is based on a Pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) frame structure, which consists of regularly spaced pilot symbols and a group of consecutive pilot symbols embedded in. Firstly, an initial estimate based on consecutive pilot symbols is generated for reducing the phase ambiguity. Secondly, based on both spaced and consecutive pilot symbols, fine preliminary estimates are generated to improve estimation accuracy. Lastly, the final estimate is obtained by combining the fine preliminary estimates with the initial. This three-step algorithm is shown to provide high estimation accuracy close to those of FFT-based algorithm at low Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In addition, it is suitable for high carrier frequency offset cases.

Heterogeneous cellular networks(HCNs)are envisioned as a promising architecture to provide seamless wireless coverage and increase network ***,the densified multi-tier network architecture introduces excessive intra-and cross-tier interference and makes HCNs vulnerable to eavesdropping *** this article,a dynamic spectrum control(DSC)-assisted transmission scheme is proposed for HCNs to strengthen network security and increase the network ***,the proposed DSC-assisted transmission scheme leverages the idea of block cryptography to generate sequence families,which represent the transmission decisions,by performing iterative and orthogonal sequence *** on the sequence families,multiple users can dynamically occupy different frequency slots for data transmission *** addition,the collision probability of the data transmission is analyzed,which results in closed-form expressions of the reliable transmission probability and the secrecy ***,the upper and lower bounds of network capacity are further derived with given requirements on the reliable and secure transmission *** results demonstrate that the proposed DSC-assisted scheme can outperform the benchmark scheme in terms of security ***,the impacts of key factors in the proposed DSC-assisted scheme on the network capacity and security are evaluated and discussed.

With the rapid developments of Internet of Things(IoT)and proliferation of embedded devices,large volume of personal data are collected,which however,might carry massive private information about attributes that users do not want to *** privacy-preserving methods have been proposed to prevent privacy leakage by perturbing raw data or extracting task-oriented features at local ***,they would suffer from significant privacy leakage and accuracy drop when applied to other tasks as they are designed and optimized for predefined *** this paper,we propose a novel task-free privacy-preserving data collection method via adversarial representation learning,called TF-ARL,to protect private attributes specified by users while maintaining data utility for unknown downstream *** this end,we first propose a privacy adversarial learning mechanism(PAL)to protect private attributes by optimizing the feature extractor to maximize the adversary’s prediction uncertainty on private attributes,and then design a conditional decoding mechanism(ConDec)to maintain data utility for downstream tasks by minimizing the conditional reconstruction error from the sanitized *** the joint learning of PAL and ConDec,we can learn a privacy-aware feature extractor where the sanitized features maintain the discriminative information except *** experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of TF-ARL.

Responding to News Sensitively in Stock Attention networks via Prompt-Adaptive Trimodal Model

Modern quantitative finance and portfolio-based investment hinge on multimedia news and historical price trends for stock movement prediction. However, prior studies overlook the long tail effect in the feature distribution of stocks, inevitably leading to biased attention and thus degrading the efficiency of utilizing news. To this end, we propose a prompt-adaptive trimodal model (PA-TMM) to overcome the biased stock attention networks and tail feature scarcity problem. In this model, sentiments automatically extracted from trimodal information serve as prompts reflecting the market’s collective mood for other entities, and the interactions among stocks are dynamically inferred for integrating both news- and price-induced movements. By leveraging the movement prompt adaptation (MPA) strategy, our model proactively adapts to the feature-imbalanced phenomenon and converges toward being responsive to the news sensitively. Extensive experiments conducted on real-world datasets consistently demonstrate not only the superiority of the proposed framework over various state-of-the-art baselines, but also its effectiveness, profitability, and robustness in Fintech. We demonstrate a high-coherence parallel integrated light source utilizing a self-injection locked microcomb and injection locking amplification. Our strategy exhibits a record high on-chip gain of 60 dB, nearly 0 dB noise factor, which enable more than 30 highly coherent channels in integrated photonics whose linewidths down to 10 Hz, power exceeding 20 dBm per line and a wall plug efficiency of 19%. © 2024 IEEE.

Post-hoc explanations are important for people to understand the predictions of explanation models. One class of methods in post-hoc explanation is the generation of counterfactuals, where a hypothetical example is obtained by perturbing the inputs to show how one could obtain a different prediction from the decision model. Counter-factual explanations should satisfy several properties: One is that counterfactuals generated under specific scenarios and constraints should be feasible for users, i.e., they should accommodate different causal constraints. The other is that it is more desirable for users to have a wider variety of viable examples, i.e., counterfactual diversity. To this end, we propose a parallelizable method based on gradient optimization. We partition the input feasible domains, perform counterfactual generation independently for each feasible domain, and then parallelize the counterfactual generation process for each feasible domain. Experimental results show that our approach effectively improves the diversity, sparsity, and proximity of the generated counterfactual instances on the public datasets Adult-Income, Lending-Club, German-Credit, and COMPAS compared to other models. © 2023 IEEE.
