This paper presents an effective method based on the concept of indium tin oxide (ITO) films designed metamaterial absorber to achieve unequal power divider. The structural unit of the proposed metamaterial absorber consists of three films, a foam dielectric substrate and a metallic copper. By properly adjusting the resonance of the structure, an optimized metamaterial absorption rate of greater than 90% from 21 to 35 GHz is achieved, and a strong absorption effect of ultra-broadband for incident electromagnetic waves at different polarization angles and different incidence angles is achieved, which is in good agreement with the numerical simulation results, and an equivalent circuit model is extracted to explain its operation mechanism. The designed metamaterial is loaded on an Integrated Substrate Gap Waveguide (ISGW) based power divider. Simulation results show that the 4:1 unequal power divider achieves a relative bandwidth of 24% in the operating band 22–28 GHz, and the isolation is better than 15dB, and the return loss is greater than 10dB.

Integrated Substrate Gap Waveguide (ISGW) is a newly proposed planar waveguide, which has the characteristics of low loss, easy integration and self-encapsulation, and is especially suitable for millimeter wave systems. Related waveguides have been widely used in the research and design of millimeter wave devices and antennas. However, no theoretical study has been made on the propagation characteristics of the waveguide, such as dispersion and characteristic impedance. Therefore, this paper will use conformal mapping method to study the characteristic impedance of ISGW waveguide.

Boosting Semi-Supervised Facial Attribute Recognition with Dynamic Threshold Pairs

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) has proven effective in assigning a pseudo-label to a confident sample whose largest class probability is above a fixed threshold. However, in the context of semi-supervised facial attribute recognition (SSFAR), where a sample is associated with multiple presence and absence pseudo-labels, directly applying existing SSL methods is challenging due to two issues: 1) the lack of a clear boundary between presence and absence predictions for an attribute makes it difficult to distinguish them using a single threshold;2) the learning difficulty varies across attributes, so the fixed strategy fails to adaptively learn different attributes. To address these challenges, we propose Dynamic thrEShold Pairs (DESP), a simple yet effective method to handle the SSFAR problem. Specifically, during each training stage, we derive two sets for each attribute from labeled samples, which contain the predicted probabilities of presence and absence, respectively. We then compute the mid-ranges of the two sets as paired presence and absence thresholds. Finally, we assign a presence or absence pseudo-label for the attribute to an unlabeled sample when its prediction exceeds the presence threshold or falls below the absence threshold. Extensive experiments on the CelebA and LFWA datasets demonstrate that DESP achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods, especially in the case of scarce labeled samples. Also, DESP performs well on multi-label datasets such as Pascal VOC and MS-COCO. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Cloud Computing is an emerging paradigm that is based on the concept of distributed computing. Its definition is related to the use of computer resources which are offered as a service. As with any novel technology, Cloud Computing is subject to security threats, vulnerabilities, and attacks. Recently, the studies on security impact include the interaction of software, people and services on the Internet and that is called cyber-security or cyberspace security. In spite of various studies, we still fail to define the needs of cybersecurity management in Cloud Computing. This paper principally focuses on a comprehensive study of Cloud Computing concerns, security, cybersecurity differences, ISO, and NIST standards. It aims at identifying the policies and the guidelines included in these standards as well as it provides a comprehensive Framework proposal to manage and prevent cyber risks in Cloud Computing taking into consideration the ISO 27,032, ISO 27,001, ISO 27,017 and NIST cybersecurity Framework CSF. In addition to that, our study pinpoints at the criteria that concern measuring the maturity of organizations that implement the framework. Our objective is to provide guidance to organizations on how to establish their proper approach of cybersecurity risk management in Cloud Computing or to complement their ‘already have’ processes. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Reliable modeling of river sediments transport is important as it is a defining factor of the economic viability of dams, the durability of hydroelectric-equipment, river susceptibility to pollution, suitability for navigation, and potential for aesthetics and fish habitat. The capability of a new machine learning model, fuzzy c-means based neuro-fuzzy system calibrated using the hybrid particle swarm optimization-gravitational search algorithm（ANFIS-FCM-PSOGSA） in improving the estimation accuracy of river suspended sediment loads（SSLs） is investigated in the current study. The outcomes of the proposed method were compared with those obtained using the fuzzy c-means based neuro-fuzzy system calibrated using particle swarm optimization（ANFIS-FCM-PSO）, ANFIS-FCM, and sediment rating curve（SRC） models. Various input combinations involving lagged river flow（Q） and suspended sediment（S） values were used for model development. The effect of Q and S on the model's accuracy also was assessed by including the difference between lagged Q and S values as inputs. The model performance was assessed using the root mean square error（RMSE）, mean absolute error（MAE）, Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency（NSE）, and coefficient of determination（R2） and several graphical comparison methods. The results showed that the proposed model enhanced the prediction performance of the ANFIS-FCM-PSO（or ANFIS-FCM） models by 8.14%（1.72%）, 14.7%（5.71%）, 12.5%（2.27%）, and 25.6%（1.86%）,in terms of the RMSE, MAE, NSE and R2, respectively. The current study established the potential of the proposed ANFIS-FCM-PSOGSA model for simulation of the cumulative sediment load. The modeling results revealed the potential effects of the river flow lags on the sediment transport quantification.

In the context of collaborative data analysis or machine learning tasks (such as biomedical image segmentation for tumor region definition) involving multiple parties, secure feature selection protocols enable the parties to jointly select the most informative features while preserving their privacy from being exposed to others. However, current secure feature selection methods have several limitations: (1) they leak intermediate results during feature selection raises serious privacy concerns; (2)they cannot cover various scenarios comprehensively. To this end, we present a secure feature selection framework based on mutual information, which improves the privacy-preserving data preprocessing work. Specifically, the division protocol performs low-complexity interactive computations, reducing the time cost to $578^{th}$ of the original; besides, our logarithm protocol converts shared values through Beaver's triple, and increases the efficiency by up to 118 times. We conduct extensive experimental evaluations on diverse real-world datasets, and the results demonstrate that our framework achieves up to 28.5% accuracy improve-ment, thus effectively enhancing the privacy protection work of machine learning data preprocessing.

In this paper, we propose a simple but effective method for dealing with the challenging fine-grained cross-modal retrieval task where it aims to enable flexible retrieval among subor-dinate categories across different modalities. Specifically, in order to enhance information interaction in different modalities for fine-grained objects, a channel mix method is developed and performed upon the channels of deep activations across dif-ferent modalities. After that, a 1 x 1 convolution is employed to aggregate the mixed channels into a unified feature vector. Moreover, equipped with a novel fine-grained cross-modal cen-ter loss, our method can further improve the intra-class separa-bility as well as inter-class compactness for multi-modalities. Experiments are conducted on the fine-grained cross-modal benchmark dataset and show our superiority over competing methods. Meanwhile, ablation studies also demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposals. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, an active intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted secure integrated sensing and simultaneous wireless information and power transfer system is proposed with the power splitting (PS) model adopted. Aiming to maximize the harvested power while satisfying the constraints of the integrated sidelobe level ratio and secrecy rate, an optimization problem is formulated to jointly determine the appropriate transmit beamforming, artificial noise (AN) vectors, PS ratios, as well as the amplification factors and phase shifts of the active IRS, which is non-convex and intractable. To overcome this challenge, we leverage semidefinite programming to transform it into a convex counterpart, and propose an alternating optimization algorithm to obtain a solution for the original problem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme compared to benchmarks.

For better protection of distributed systems, two well-known techniques are: checkpointing and rollback recovery. While failure protection is often considered a separate issue, it is crucial for establishing better secure distributed systems. This article is dedicated to the proposal of a new checkpointing algorithm for saving a consistent-transaction state in distributed databases ensuring that database management systems are able, after a failure, to recover the state of the database. The proposed communication-induced algorithm does not hamper the normal transaction processing and saves a global consistent-transaction state that records only the fully completed transactions. Analysis and experimental results of our proposal show that the proposed scheme saves a minimum number of forced checkpoints and has some performance gains compared to the alternative approaches. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
