Metamaterials have revolutionized wave control;in the last two decades,they evolved from passive devices via programmable devices to sensor-endowed self-adaptive devices realizing a user-specified *** deep-learning techniques play an increasingly important role in metamaterial inverse design,measurement post-processing and end-to-end optimization,their role is ultimately still limited to approximating specific mathematical relations;the metamaterial is still limited to serving as proxy of a human operator,realizing a predefined ***,we propose and experimentally prototype a paradigm shift toward a metamaterial agent(coined metaAgent)endowed with reasoning and cognitive capabilities enabling the autonomous planning and successful execution of diverse long-horizon tasks,including electromagnetic(EM)field manipulations and interactions with robots and *** recently released foundation models,metaAgent reasons in high-level natural language,acting upon diverse prompts from an evolving complex ***,metaAgent's cerebrum performs high-level task planning in natural language via a multi-agent discussion mechanism,where agents are domain experts in sensing,planning,grounding,and *** response to live environmental feedback within a real-world setting emulating an ambient-assisted living context(including human requests in natural language),our metaAgent prototype self-organizes a hierarchy of EM manipulation tasks in conjunction with commanding a *** masters foundational EM manipulation skills related to wireless communications and sensing,and it memorizes and learns from past experience based on human feedback.

An EFSM-based multimedia synchronization model and the authoring system

multimedia synchronization is one of the key issues to be resolved in order to have smooth multimedia presentations. The demand of bringing multimedia information systems into distributed environments makes multimedia synchronization more difficult. In this paper, we apply extended finite state machines (EFSM) to formally specify multimedia synchronization among multiple media streams. Using the EFSM model, the intra-medium synchronization is handled by an actor, which is formally represented as an EFSM, The inter-media synchronization is handled by a synchronizer, which is also represented as an EFSM, Both centralized and distributed synchronization cases can be specified. Synchronizer and Actors achieve the corresponding multimedia presentations cooperatively. We also propose some policies to rectify the random delays caused by networks in the distributed presentation case. These policies, which can be formally specified in the corresponding EFSMs, are classified as intra-stream and inter-stream synchronization policies. Using the EFSM-based model, an authoring system and an associated experimental execution environment has been developed on SUN SPARC workstations.

This paper presents a computer-supported desk-co- desk information exchange system which allows two users to conduct a multimedia information transfer. Participants can jointly view and edit a piece of shared multimedia information, including text, graphics, images, and voice, which is transferred through a local area network. The system includes a talk system combined with voice and text, a co-design system, including a co-draw component and a co-editor com-ponent, a document transfer system and a multimedia e-mail system. The system is based on TCP and UDP protocols and is developed on the SUN SPARC OPENLOOK system. This system is applicable to a number of environments, e.g., office automation, inter-hospital network service, computer supported collaboration work, distributed software development, group decision support, and so on. © 1994 ACM.

Speeding up fractal image compression by genetic algorithms

The main problem with all fractal compression implementation is execution time. Algorithms can spend hours to compress a single image. Most of the major variants of the standard algorithm for speeding up computation time have led to a bad-quality or a lower compression ratio. For example, the Fisher's [ 7] proposed classification pattern greatly accelerated the algorithm, but image quality was poor due to the search-space reduction imposed by the classification, which eleminates a lot of good solutions. By using genetic algorithms to address the problem, we optimize the domain blocks search. We explore all domain blocks present in the image but not in exhaustive way ( like a standard algorithm) and without omitting any possible block (solution) as a classification pattern does. A genetic algorithm is the unique method for satisfying these constraints. And it is a way to do be a random search because the genetic one is directed by fitness selection, which produces optimal solutions. Our goal in this work is to use a genetic algorithm to solve the IFS inverse problem and to build a fractal compression algorithm based on the genetic optimization of a domain blocks search. we have also implemented standard Barnsley algorithm, the Y. Fisher based on classification, and the genetic compression algorithm with quadtree partitioning. A population of transformations was evolved for each range block, and the result is compared with the standard Barnsely algorithm and the Fisher algorithm = based classification. We deduced an optimal set of values for the best parameters combination, and we can also specify the best combination for each desired criteria: best compression ratio, best image quality, or quick compression process. By running many test images, we experimentally found the following set of optimal values of all the algorithm parameters that ensure compromise between execution time and solutions optimality: Population size = 100, Maximum generations = 20, Crossover rat

Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) require an efficient intrusion detection scheme to identify malicious attackers. Traditional detection schemes are not well suited for WSNs due to their higher false detection rate. In this paper, we propose a novel intrusion detection scheme based on the energy prediction in cluster-based WSNs (EPIDS). The main contribution of EPIDS is to detect attackers by comparing the energy consumptions of sensor nodes. The sensor nodes with abnormal energy consumptions are identified as malicious attackers. Furthermore, EPIDS is designed to distinguish the types of denial of service (DoS) attack according to the energy consumption rate of the malicious nodes. The primary simulation experiments prove that EPIDS can detect and recognize malicious attacks effectively. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

The study of protocol behavior and traffic characteristics in a simulated environment is commonly supported by ad-hoc or general purpose simulators (e.g., Opnet, NS-2). But as the complexity of the network to be simulated grows, event-driven simulation could become the bottleneck of any performance analysis. Here, we propose an analytical technique for a real system performance evaluation of the proxy(P)-CSCF and serving(S)-CSCF components of an IMS network on a dual processor blade server. Based on this approach, we derive a specific model which can be applied to different network scenarios for performance evaluation and system engineering purposes. In particular, we study the optimal allocation of the traffic load in a blade-server generated by the CSCF processes to predict the maximum system capacity. The results indicate that our methodology (a) is effective in maximizing the blade utilization (b) points toward the benefits of hyper-threading and identifies the appropriate scheduling discipline at the local Linux schedulers and (c) provides a quantification of the optimal number of blades required to serve a predefined P/S-CSCF process arrival rate.

Today, with the digitization of manufacturing, industries are becoming more and more competitive and offer personalized products and services. With The Industry of the Future also known as Industry 4.0 or Fourth Industrial Revolution, architecture has fundamentally changed. It is based on intelligent automation and integrates a new technologies that allow permanent communication between machines and systems to ensure an increasing improvement in production. Despite the advantages of industry 4.0, there are also challenges to be addressed: Network security has become very important than before, therefore we have to guarantee better intrusion detection, based on machine learning algorithms. To this end, we examine four supervised learning methods, namely: Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machines (SVM), Trees J48 and Random Forest, and compare the results using different performance measures (accuracy, recall, time to build the model etc). The data set used in this study comes from a laboratory scale gas pipeline, entitled “10% Random Sample Gas Pipeline The objective of this research is to select the best algorithm to detect and predict attacks in SCADA Network, in order to take preventive measures against the risk of intrusion.
