High-resistance connection (HRC) is a common electrical fault in the electric machine drive system. This paper presents the power loss analysis of five phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system with HRC fault. In this paper, the model of five phase PMSM is given under healthy and HRC fault conditions. The power loss, mainly focusing on the copper loss under HRC fault condition is studied, which provide the convenience for further research on how to reduce the power loss under HRC fault condition. The control strategy of five phase PMSM is introduced. The simulation is carried out to quantitatively study the copper loss of the PMSM drive system under healthy and fault conditions.

An adaptive neural output consensus control issue is considered for stochastic nonlinear strict-feedback multi-agent systems (MASs). The traditional backstepping framework is employed combing with the graph theory, as well as neural networks (NNs) technology. NNs are utilized for the approximation of unknown functions, and the Itô's lemma is used to deal with stochastic dynamics of the system. It is proved that all signals remain bounded in probability and that the tracking errors of all followers converge to a small neighborhood of the origin in the sense of mean quartic value by suitable choice of parameters. A simulation example is provided. © 2018 IEEE.

Multi-scale neural networks for retinal blood vessels segmentation

Existing supervised approaches didn't make use of the low-level features which are actually effective to this task. And another deficiency is that they didn't consider the relation between pixels, which means effective features are not extracted. In this paper, we proposed a novel convolutional neural network which make sufficient use of low-level features together with high-level features and involves atrous convolution to get multi-scale features which should be considered as effective features. Our model is tested on three standard benchmarks - DRIVE, STARE, and CHASE databases. The results presents that our model significantly outperforms existing approaches in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, the area under the ROC curve and the highest prediction speed. Our work provides evidence of the power of wide and deep neural networks in retinal blood vessels segmentation task which could be applied on other medical images tasks. Recently, generative adversarial networks(GANs)have become a research focus of artificial intelligence. Inspired by two-player zero-sum game, GANs comprise a generator and a discriminator, both trained under the adversarial learning *** goal of GANs is to estimate the potential distribution of real data samples and generate new samples from that *** their initiation, GANs have been widely studied due to their enormous prospect for applications, including image and vision computing, speech and language processing, etc. In this review paper, we summarize the state of the art of GANs and look into the future. Firstly, we survey GANs' proposal background,theoretic and implementation models, and application ***, we discuss GANs' advantages and disadvantages, and their development trends. In particular, we investigate the relation between GANs and parallel intelligence,with the conclusion that GANs have a great potential in parallel systems research in terms of virtual-real interaction and integration. Clearly, GANs can provide substantial algorithmic support for parallel intelligence.

The features used in many image analysis-based applications are frequently of very high dimension. Feature extraction offers several advantages in high-dimensional cases, and many recent studies have used multi-task feature extraction approaches, which often outperform single-task feature extraction approaches. However, most of these methods are limited in that they only consider data represented by a single type of feature, even though features usually represent images from multiple modalities. We therefore propose a novel large margin multi-modal multi-task feature extraction (LM3FE) framework for handling multi-modal features for image classification. In particular, LM3FE simultaneously learns the feature extraction matrix for each modality and the modality combination coefficients. In this way, LM3FE not only handles correlated and noisy features, but also utilizes the complementarity of different modalities to further help reduce feature redundancy in each modality. The large margin principle employed also helps to extract strongly predictive features so that they are more suitable for prediction (e.g., classification). An alternating algorithm is developed for problem optimization and each sub-problem can be efficiently solved. Experiments on two challenging real-world image datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper addresses the distributed formation-containment (DFC) problem for multiple Euler-Lagrange systems with model uncertainties via output feedback in both constant and time-varying formation cases. First, a novel definition of the DFC problem is proposed using a two-layer framework. Since only parts of the followers can acquire the states of the dynamic leader, we design a distributed finite-time sliding-mode estimator to obtain accurate estimations of the desired position and velocity for each agent. Next, to deal with the absence of velocity sensors, we propose two DFC control laws combined with the high-gain observer for the leaders and the followers, respectively, while the time-varying formation in the first layer and the leader-based containment in the second layer can be achieved. Further, the adaptive neural networks are applied to deal with the model uncertainties due to their superior approximation capability. The uniform ultimate boundedness of all the state errors can be guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theory. In addition, a unified framework is given which can be transformed to four other basic distributed problems. Finally, simulation examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the theoretical results. © 2013 IEEE.
