We study the linear-quadratic-Gaussian(LQG) control for multiple-input/multiple-output(MIMO) discrete-time networked control systems(NCSs) in the presence of data packet drops that are modeled as multiplicative noises,assumed to be white *** will first analyze the mean square(MS) stability problem for MIMO feedback systems in the presence of the multiplicative noises,and provide a new useful MS stability *** LQG control under packet data drops will then be studied in which the critical probability of the received data packet can be computed by solving a set of linear matrices inequalities(LMIs),beyond which the modified algebraic Riccati equations,associated with the LQG control,admit the stabilizing *** a numerical example from the known literature is employed to illustrate our results.

Feature-points matching is an important concept in binocular stereo vision. The procession of multi-scale feature-points matching in classical Harris-SIFT algorithm is time-consuming and has high complexity when describing the feature-points. This paper proposed a new improved Harris-SIFT algorithm based on rotation-invariant LBP (Local binary patterns) operator. Firstly, the Harris operator is used to extract feature points from DOG (Difference of Gaussian) scale space. Then, the dominant direction of feature point is calculated and 81-dimensional rotation-invariant LBP descriptors are extracted when the rotation matching window is coordinated to this direction. At last, Best-Bin-First (BBF) algorithm is used to search the matching points between the two sets of feature points. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is lower time-consuming than classical Harris-SIFT algorithm and remains the similar matching correct rate. © 2016 SERSC.

The pulp neutralization process is a classic complex industrial process with strong nonlinear and *** processes generally cannot be controlled well using the traditionalproportional-integral-derivative(PID) controller because of the linear feature of that control *** on this problem,a novel PID controlmethod is proposed by integrating multiple technologies,namely,data-driven compensation of un-modelled dynamicsand multi-step ahead of optimal *** the new PID control structure,the measured data from the pulp neutralizationprocess and the historical data from the unmodelled dynamics are fully used,and a data-based unmodelled dynamicscompensator is integrated with a feedback *** the performance of the proposed algorithm further,its stability and convergence are ***,the proposed approach is applied to a cobalt nickel hydroxide pulpneutralization process to solve the problem of the p H value under random disturbances caused by total acid flow duringautoclave leaching,residual acid flow,and feeding pulp p H ***,the simulations are carried out using data froman actual pulp neutralization process,and then industrial experiments confirm the simulation conclusion:the p H value ofthe pulp neutralization process can be effectively maintained within the desired technical range with slight fluctuations.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), commonly known as drones, have many potential uses in real world applications. Drones require advanced planning and navigation algorithms to enable them to safely move through and interact with the world around them. This paper presents an extended potential field controller (ePFC) which enables an aerial robot, or drone, to safely track a dynamic target location while simultaneously avoiding any obstacles in its path. The ePFC outperforms a traditional potential field controller (PFC) with smoother tracking paths and shorter settling times. The proposed ePFC's stability is evaluated by Lyapunov approach, and its performance is simulated in a Matlab environment. Finally, the controller is implemented on an experimental platform in a laboratory environment which demonstrates the effectiveness of the controller.

Robustness of controlling edge dynamics in complex networks against node failure

The robustness of controlling complex networks is significant in network science. In this paper, we focus on evaluating and analyzing the robustness of controlling edge dynamics in complex networks against node failure. Using three categories of all nodes to quantify the robustness, we find that the percentages of the three types of nodes are mainly related to the degree distribution of networks. The simulation results of model networks and analytic calculations show that the sparse inhomogeneous networks, which emerge in many real complex networks, have strong control robustness from the point of the number of ordinary nodes, but the strong positive correlation between in and out degrees reduces the control robustness. Evaluation of real-world networks indicates that most of them have few or no critical nodes, that is, they do not need to increase driver nodes to maintain control for most of node failures. Then an adding circuit-link strategy is proposed to optimize the robustness of edge controllability.

Accurate pitch extraction from speech is important but challenging problem for speech synthesis. However, the additive nature and long-term suprasegmental property of pitch features have not been fully exploited in most of the existing pitch estimators as they are operated frame by frame. As a result, they would cause some inherent discontinuities, such as double/half F0 errors and unvoiced/voiced(U/V) error. This would adversely affect the quality of synthetic speech as well as the expressiveness of the prosody information. In this paper, we explore the novel use of multi-tasks(Task 1: U/V;Task 2: Pitch) bidirectional long short-term memory recurrent neural network(BLSTM) to model the pitch and voicing decision simultaneously in a unified framework. The features used in this study are extracted from the frequency domain. We compute the log-frequency power spectrogram and then normalize to the long-term speech spectrum to attenuate noises. A filter is then used to enhance the harmonicity. Experiments show that the proposed approach substantially outperforms RAPT, which behaves the best in clean condition. Besides, our proposed approach can even work well with a certain level of background noise.

Using the pseudo-generalized Hamiltonian method, this paper investigates the decentralized nonlinear robust coordinated control of multiple static synchronous compensators(STATCOMs) in multi-machine multiload power systems. First,the uncertain nonlinear differential algebraic equation model is constructed for the power system. Then, the dissipative pseudogeneralized Hamiltonian realization of the system is established by means of variable transformation and prefeedback ***, based on the obtained dissipative pseudo-generalized Hamiltonian realization, a new-style decentralized nonlinear robust coordinated controller is put forward. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the control scheme.

Discovering admissible Web services with uncertain QoS

Open and dynamic environments lead to inher- ent uncertainty of Web service QoS （Quality of Service）, and the QoS-aware service selection problem can be looked upon as a decision problem under uncertainty. We use an empiri- cal distribution function to describe the uncertainty of scores obtained from historical transactions. We then propose an approach to discovering the admissible set of services in- cluding alternative services that are not dominated by any other alternatives according to the expected utility criterion. Stochastic dominance （SD） rules are used to compare two services with uncertain scores regardless of the distribution form of their uncertain scores. By using the properties of SD rules, an algorithm is developed to reduce the number of SD tests, by which the admissible services can be reported pro- gressively. We prove that the proposed algorithm can be run on partitioned or incremental alternative services. Moreover, we achieve some useful theoretical conclusions for correct pruning of unnecessary calculations and comparisons in each SD test, by which the efficiency of the SD tests can be im- proved. We make a comprehensive experimental study using real datasets to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and scal- ability of the proposed algorithm.

Localizing heavily occluded human faces is a challenging problem in facial detection. Previous methods mainly employ sliding windows by determining whether windows include human faces. In this paper, we provide a novel segmentation-based perspective for heavily occluded face localization with deep convolutional neural networks (CNN). Our model takes an image as input without complicated pre-processing. After several convolutional layers, fully-connected layers and a softmax classifier, we can predict the labels of all pixels in an image, which is the key to localize heavily occluded human faces. Finally, we search a minimal rectangle to localize the human face. Our detector needs neither complex pre-processing nor the time-consuming sliding window. Besides, we use a single model to localize faces to further alleviate computational complexity. Experimental results show that our proposed method is a very effective way to localize heavily occluded human face.
