This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the current state of research in the area of Networked control systems (NCSs) first. Then two modeling and control methods are introduced for NCSs in details. The first one is a stochastic control method, which investigates the H∞ control problem for NCSs with random network-induced delay. The second one is a switch control method, which focuses on solving the stabilization problem for NCSs in discrete-time domain, where both network-induced delay and packet dropout are taken into account. Illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. Finally, this paper concludes with the discussion of possible future development of NCSs from a control perspective.

In this paper a method to estimate the initial rotor position of the switched reluctance motor (SRM) at the stand still condition is proposed. The proposed method can be implemented by the simple microcontroller based system, and it is not necessary to know the magnetization curves. The impulse gate drive signal is applied and the winding current is detected and its approximate value is used for calculating the rotor position. The compensation method to reduce the estimation error thorough one cycle is also mentioned. The proposed method is implemented with the 6-stator-pole and 4- rotor-pole, 1.5 kW 3-phase switched reluctance motor.

A time-delay recurrent neural network (TDRNN) model is proposed. TDRNN has a simple structure but far more "depth" and "resolution ratio" in memory by introducing the time-delay and recurrent mechanism. A dynamic recurrent back propagation algorithm is developed. The optimal adaptive learning rates are derived in the sense of discrete-type Lyapunov stability to guarantee the fast convergence of the proposed model. More specifically, a TDRNN identifier and a TDRNN controller are utilized for identifying and controlling nonlinear systems. Numerical experiments show that the TDRNN has good effectiveness in the identification and control for dynamic systems.

In this paper, we propose a novel online learning method which can learn appearance models incrementally from a given video stream. The data of each frame in the video can be discarded as soon as it has been processed. We only need to maintain a few linear eigenspace models and a transition matrix to approximately construct face appearance manifolds. It is convenient to use these learnt models for video-based face recognition. There are mainly two contributions in this paper. First, we propose an algorithm which can learn appearance models online without using a pre-trained model. Second, we propose a method for eigenspace splitting to prevent that most samples cluster into the same eigenspace. This is useful for clustering and classification. Experimental results show that the proposed method can both learn appearance models online and achieve high recognition rate.

This paper studies the fuzzy H infin filter design problem for signal estimation of nonlinear discrete-time systems with multiple time delays and unknown bounded disturbances. First, the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is used to represent the state-space model of nonlinear discrete-time systems with time delays. Next, we design a stable fuzzy H infin filter based on the T-S fuzzy model, which guarantees asymptotic stability and a prescribed H infin index for the filtering error system, irrespective of the time delays and uncertain disturbances. A sufficient condition for the existence of such a filter is established by using the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. The proposed LMI problem can be efficiently solved with global convergence guarantee using convex optimization techniques such as the interior point algorithm. Simulation examples are provided to illustrate the design procedure of the present method.

In Chinese Question Answering System, in order to improve the accuracy of the passage retrieval which includes answers, this paper presents a method to compute the weight of passage based on the analysis of current passage retrieval methods. The word frequency of query words and query expansion words in passage, the length of passage;the distribution density and minimum match span of query words and query expansion words in passage are considered. The weight calculation of the answer passage is realized. And candidate passage set is retrieved on the basis of the weight Calculation. The experiment result on passage retrieval shows that this method has good effects that the MRR value equals 0.50.
