This paper presents an interactive motion control method based on reinforcement learning, designed to assist children with autism who have social motor impairments through a mirror game intervention. The virtual teacher uses the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm to optimize its actions, guiding the participant to follow a Lissajous trajectory. To ensure safety, a motion-correction mechanism was developed, which automatically adjusts actions when the predicted trajectory surpasses predefined safety boundaries. The reward function considers both the distance between the virtual teacher and the target trajectory, as well as the distance between the virtual teacher and the participant, with dynamic adjustments applied by the motion-correction mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the virtual teacher effectively guides the participant towards the target trajectory while adhering to safety constraints. © 2025 IEEE.

A phase demodulation method immune to laser phase noise based on time-delay beat-frequency coherent Φ-OTDR is proposed. In this method, the two Rayleigh backscattered light beams with time delay are beat with local light beams respectively, and the phase difference of the two beat signals is used instead of the traditional distance-difference phase to obtain the local disturbance information. In this way, the impact of laser phase noise introduce by the distance-difference phase is avoid, and the constraint of laser linewidth on phase demodulation performance is weakened. In the experiment, a demodulation accuracy of -63.5dB rad 2 /Hz is achieved under the condition of a laser with a linewidth of 100kHz, which is improve by 11dB compared to traditional phase demodulation method.

A direct synthesis design technique of multi-band filtering power dividers (FPDs) with high frequency selectivity is proposed, which is promising in both industrial and academic field. After a set of complete closed-form analytical equations are established for direct synthesis design, the proposed method is intensively described to reveal its powerful capacity in design of a multi-band FPD with any pre-specified responses, high multiband isolations and matching. To validate this design concept, a demonstrator triple-band microstrip FPD has been designed, fabricated, measured. What's more, a triple-band three-way FPD with 90° port-to-port phase differences as an extended example of the synthesis design technique has also been implemented, which furtherly shows the flexibility of the proposed method. © 2021 Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).

Incomplete Multi-View Clustering via Multi-Level Contrastive Learning

Although significant progress has been made in multi-view learning over the past few decades, it remains challenging, especially in the context of incomplete multi-view clustering, where modeling complex correlations among different views and handling missing data are key difficulties. In this paper, we propose a novel incomplete multi-view clustering network to address the aforementioned issue, named Incomplete Multi-view Clustering via Multi-level Contrastive Learning (IMC-MCL). Specifically, the proposed model aims to minimize the conditional entropy between views to recover missing data by dual prediction strategy. Moreover, the approach learns multi-level features, including latent, high-level and semantic features, with the goal of satisfying both reconstruction and consistency objectives in distinct feature spaces. Specifically, latent features are utilized to accomplish the reconstruction objective, while high-level features and semantic labels are employed to achieve the two consistency goals through contrastive learning. This framework enables the exploration of shared semantics within high-level features and achieves clustering assignment using semantic features. Extensive experiments have shown that the proposed approach outperforms other state-of-the-art incomplete multi-view clustering methods on seven challenging datasets. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

Open-world Semi-Supervised Learning (OSSL) is a realistic and challenging task, aiming to classify unlabeled samples from both seen and novel classes using partially labeled samples from the seen classes. Previous works typically explore the relationship of samples as priors on the pre-defined single-granularity labels to help novel class recognition. In fact, classes follow a taxonomy and samples can be classified at multiple levels of granularity, which contains more underlying relationships for supervision. We thus argue that learning with single-granularity labels results in sub-optimal representation learning and inaccurate pseudo labels, especially with unknown classes. In this paper, we take the initiative to explore and propose a uniformed framework, called Taxonomic context prIors Discovering and Aligning (TIDA), which exploits the relationship of samples under various granularity. It allows us to discover multi-granularity semantic concepts as taxonomic context priors (i.e., sub-class, target-class, and super-class), and then collaboratively leverage them to enhance representation learning and improve the quality of pseudo labels. Specifically, TIDA comprises two components: i) A taxonomic context discovery module that constructs a set of hierarchical prototypes in the latent space to discover the underlying taxonomic context priors; ii) A taxonomic context-based prediction alignment module that enforces consistency across hierarchical predictions to build the reliable relationship between classes among various granularity and provide additions supervision. We demonstrate that these two components are mutually beneficial for an effective OSSL framework, which is theoretically explained from the perspective of the EM algorithm. Extensive experiments on seven commonly used datasets show that TIDA can significantly improve the performance and achieve a new state of the art. Although Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong instruction-following ability, they are further supposed to be controlled and guided by inferential rules in real-world scenarios to be safe, accurate, and intelligent. This demands the possession of inferential rule-following capability of LLMs. However, no prior work has made a clear evaluation of the inferential rule-following capability of LLMs. Previous studies that try to evaluate the inferential rule-following capability of LLMs fail to distinguish the inferential rule-following scenarios from the instruction-following scenarios. Therefore, this paper first clarifies the concept of inferential rule-following and proposes a comprehensive benchmark, RuleBench, to evaluate a diversified range of inferential rule-following abilities. Our experimental results on a variety of LLMs show that they are still limited in following rules. Our analysis based on the evaluation results provides insights into the improvements for LLMs toward a better inferential rule-following intelligent agent. We further propose Inferential Rule-Following Tuning (IRFT). The experimental results show that through IRFT, LLMs can learn abstract inferential rule-following abilities from purely synthetic data and then generalize to RuleBench. Human Activity Recognition (HAR) based on wear-able device has become a hot topic of research due to its wide range of applications in health-care, fitness and smart homes. However, the classification of some activities with similar sensor readings, such as standing and sitting, is usually more challenging for the design of efficient activity recognition algorithms. Considering the inconsistent performance of different classifiers, which can provide information complementary for individual classifier, we propose a novel multi-classifier fusion method based on belief functions (BFs) theory for HAR. Specifically, at first, four classifiers are trained using time-domain and frequency-domain features to obtain basic belief assignments (BBA) of activity, respectively. Then, three assessment criteria are utilized to evaluate the reliability of the classifiers and a scoring matrix is constructed. Next, the algorithm of Belief Function based the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (BF-TOPSIS) is employed to calculate the weighting coefficients for each classifier. Finally, the discounting and Dempster’s rules are adopted to combine the multiple classifiers and further decision making. Several experiments were conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed method using the UCI smartphone dataset, and the results show that the proposed method is more accurate than the state-of-art methods.

Considering the actual multi-agent coverage process, the motion trajectories are seriously affected by disturbances and noise. In this paper, a cooperative control method based on active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) for multiple mecanum-wheeled robots (MWMR) is proposed to improve its robustness. In particular, to suppress the total disturbances during the running of each robot and reduce large computation and observation cost of high order ADRC, a reduced-order cascaded ADRC (RC-ADRC) is proposed. Moreover, distributed controller is proposed to track the expected trajectories of multiple mecanum-wheeled robots under disturbances. Compared with the proposed RC-ADRC based cooperative control scheme and PID based cooperative control one, the favorable motion trajectory tracking performance is obtained. Simulation results verify the superiority of the method.

A robust feature extraction method based on feature transfer for heterogeneous remote sensing images is proposed to address the problem of insufficient generalization ability of traditional edge feature extraction methods applied to heterogeneous remote sensing images. Firstly, the heterogeneous remote sensing images are transferred based on CycleGAN to reduce the impact of heterogeneous remote sensing images on the edge feature extraction results due to the cross-data domain. Secondly, dilated convolution is introduced in the edge feature extraction model DexiNed, which makes the optimized network model pay more attention to the structured features of the image. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the structured feature extraction accuracy of heterogenous remote sensing images, which has better robust feature extraction effect compared with DexiNed. © 2022 ACM.

Although deep neural networks perform well on many individual tasks, they suffer from catastrophic forgetting when learning new tasks continually. Recently, various continual learning methods have been proposed, and some approaches based on replaying memory data achieve promising performance. Maximally Interfered Retrieval is a strong replay-based baseline, however, exists class interference due to class imbalance and lacks the ability to generalize to the real class-incremental scenario. In this paper, aiming at these problems, we design Class cumulative Classifier to replace the shared output layer of the original network, which makes it closer to practical applications, and Class balanced Buffer to address the class imbalance of stored samples. In addition, we propose Retrospect strategy to further improve the accuracy. Experimental results on benchmark datasets show that our method outperforms several strong baselines and is more suitable for complex datasets with more classes.
