In this paper, the accuracy of soft computing technique in solar radiation prediction based on series of measured meteorological data (monthly mean sunshine duration, monthly mean maximum and minimum temperature) taking from Iseyin meteorological station in Nigeria was examined. The process, which simulates the solar radiation with support vector regression (SVR), was constructed. The inputs were monthly mean maximum temperature (Tmax), monthly mean minimum temperature (Tmin) and monthly mean sunshine duration ( $$ \bar{n} $$ ). Polynomial and radial basis functions (RBF) are applied as the SVR kernel function to estimate solar radiation. According to the results, a greater improvement in estimation accuracy can be achieved through the SVR with polynomial basis function compared to RBF. The SVR coefficient of determination R 2 with the polynomial function was 0.7395 and with the radial basis function, the R 2 was 0.5877.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. Furnace exit gas temperature(FEGT) is the key parameter in the furnace ash fouling monitoring system. Since the standard least squares support vector machine(LSSVM) is not suitable for online identification and control of FEGT,a novel CM-LSSVM-PLS method is proposed to predict FEGT in this paper. In the process of CM-LSSVM-PLS method, c-means cluster(CM) algorithm is used to partition the training data into several different subsets by considering the characteristics of operational data. Submodels are subsequently developed in the individual subsets based on LSSVM method. Partial least squares algorithm(PLS) is employed as the combination strategy. The online updating algorithm is then applied to the CM-LSSVM-PLS model. The proposed online model is verified through operation data of a 300 MW generating unit. The simulation results show that the proposed online updating model is effective for online FEGT forecasting.

Remote sensing image fusion algorithm based on Shearlet transform and region segmentation

A remote sensing image fusion method based on Shearlet transform and region segmentation is proposed. First, the multi-spectral image is transformed into hue-intensity-saturation (HIS) color space. The intensity component of the multi-spectral image and the panchromatic image are decomposed by Shearlet transform to obtain low frequency and high frequency information images. Second, the low frequency parts of multi-spectral image are segmented into regions by means of thresholds method. The results show that the proposed algorithm can not only retain the spectrum information source by the multi-spectral image, but also improve the spatial detail information. © 2015, Board of Optronics Lasers. On the basis of the introduction to basic theory of Minkowski sum, we analyze the procedure of constructing the boundary of Minkowski sum and present a new method that can compute Minkowski sum of the polyhedra based on redundant information filtering. The method can filter the edges and facets that can be processed in the next computational stage, and reduce the number of the edges and facets that must be computed to improve the computing performance. The experiments show that the presented method has better performance including computing efficiency, accuracy and degeneration problems and fits for application domains that require high efficient and accurate computation. © 2014 ICIC International.

This paper mainly discusses the remote tracking problem with partly quantized information and packet-dropout. Since the network exists between the remote plant and the local plant, any information transmitted between each other will experience the quantization errors and may be lost. In this situation, the controller of the local system needs to consider both the exact local information and the inaccurate remote information. A state feedback controller is adopted and the theorems to design such controller are given in terms of bilinear matrix inequalities(BMIs). Moreover, an algorithm is proposed and these BMIs are converted into a convex optimization problem. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated by a simulation example.

In this paper, we consider the robust fault tolerant control of the distributed networked control systems(DNCSs). In DNCSs, sub-systems are connected with each other through a communication network. Each sub-system has its own sensor, controller, actuator and quantizer. The output of each sub-system will be transmitted to all other sub-systems through the network. As a result, quantization errors and packet-dropouts cannot be avoided. We also consider the actuator faults situations, including outage, loss of effectiveness and impulse which is modeled by a Markov chain in this paper. A mode-based static output feedback controller is proposed to stable the DNCSs and to meet the robust H-inf performance. Finally, a simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

When the wind power electricity system working above the rated wind speed, the disturbed wind speed can lead to the output power ripple easily, which causes a significant negative influence on the stability of the power grid. In order to overcome this disadvantage, this paper discusses the mixed H2/H- pitch angle control design problem for the nonlinear wind turbine generator system (WTGS), where the turbulence is regarded as the disturbance input. Especially, the traditional exact linearization and the pole placement techniques are also applied to guarantee the desired control performance and expected dynamic characteristics in the situation of a large-scale variety of the system operation points. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2014 TCCT, CAA.
