In this paper,a group consensus problem is investigated for multiple networked agents with parametric uncertainties where all the agents are governed by the Euler-Lagrange system with uncertain *** the group consensus problem,the agents asymptotically reach several different states rather than one consistent state.A novel group consensus protocol and a time-varying estimator of the uncertain parameters are proposed for each agent in order to solve the couple-group consensus *** is shown that the group consensus is reachable even when the system contains the uncertain ***,the multi-group consensus is discussed as an extension of the couple-group consensus,and then the group consensus with switching topology is *** results are finally provided to validate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.

Recent advances in modeling and control of crowd of pedestrians are briefly surveyed in this paper. Possibilities of applying fractional calculus in the modeling of crowd of pedestrians have been shortly reviewed and discussed from different aspects such as descriptions of motion, interactions of long range and effects of memory. Control of the crowd of pedestrians have also been formulated using the framework of cyber-physical systems and been realized using networked Segways with onboard emergency response personnels to regulate the velocity and flux of the crowd. Platform for verification of the theoretical results are also provided in this paper. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques, such as transcranial infrared (tNIR) stimulation, offer promising advancements in sleep monitoring and regulation. To enhance sleep stage classification without relying on traditional polysomnography (PSG) systems, we propose a novel approach integrating single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) signals, heart rate variability (HRV) features, and tNIR stimulation. The maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform (MODWT) is applied for multi-resolution analysis of ECG signals, followed by peak information extraction. Based on the first-order deviation of peak positions, multi-dimensional HRV features are extracted. To identify HRV features strongly associated with different sleep stages, we introduce a feature selection method combining the ReliefF algorithm and Gini index. The selected features are then processed using the INFO-ABC Logit Boost method to establish correlations between HRV dynamics and sleep stages. Experimental results on publicly available datasets demonstrate that the proposed model achieves an overall accuracy of 83.67%, a precision of 82.59%, a Kappa coefficient of 77.94%, and an F1-score of 82.97%. Compared with conventional sleep staging methods, our approach enhances sleep quality assessment and facilitates real-time, non-invasive monitoring in home and mobile healthcare settings, leveraging the potential of tNIR-based NIBS for sleep modulation. © 2025 The Author(s)

PFV2: Packet fragmentation with variable size and vigorous mapping in time-sensitive networking

With the rapid advancement of intelligent automobiles, the ever-growing communication data put forward high bandwidth and low latency requirements. To meet these requirements, automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) widely adopt domain-centralized Electrical/Electronic (E/E) architecture. In this architecture, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is expected to serve as the backbone network because of its high bandwidth and deterministic communication. TSN uses the Gate Control List (GCL) to divide its time length into multiple time slots, and the time intervals of these time slots are non-uniform (equal or unequal). Different flows have varying requirements for time slot sizes. To enhance the acceptance ratio of Time-Triggered (TT) flows through GCL time slot allocation, packet fragmentation (i.e., flow fragmentation) is introduced into TSN in the recent study. The state-of-the-art packet fragmentation solution divides one un-schedulable TT flow into multiple equal-sized packets (i.e., equal-sized time slots). In other words, these fixed-size packets are difficult to be mapped into the time slots with different sizes. This study develops a Packet Fragmentation with Variable-size and Vigorous-mapping (PFV2) technique based on the following three innovations: (1) we implement variable-size packet fragmentation, which iteratively divides the un-schedulable TT flow into smaller packets and then dynamically reschedules these packets; (2) we implement the vigorous mapping solution from packets to time slots by deeply searching for available time slots within the flow’s deadline; and (3) we verify PFV2 based on the LS1028A with Cortex-A72 (i.e., the NXP automotive-grade development board). PFV2 improves the acceptance ratio by up to 20.18% and bandwidth utilization by up to 7.024% compared with the state-of-the-art solution. The design and implementation of complex embedded systems including custom hardware and software is still to a large degree based on a collaboration of semi-manual and often poorly interconnected design methods and tools. This usually results in repetitive and longer development cycles. This paper describes an intelligent method to automate and accelerate the hardware generation process. Indeed, a VHDL parser is developed to provide an automated path from VHDL entry to Coprocessor design. To prove the correctness of our method, a Java source code framework named Automatic Custom Architecture generator (ACAgen) is developed. Experimental results on 3D sample application show that the proposed framework can rapidly and easily generate coprocessor. It leads to the design of large and complex systems-on-chip with less costs and higher performances. © 2012 MANT.

Social media has become a prevalent issue that has attracted the attention of both society and researchers. Social media platforms have undergone tremendous expansion over the past ten years, offering users the ability to share personal messages, information, pictures, videos and ideas at an unprecedented pace. The negative impacts of social media usage are especially concerning for the younger generation, who spend a significant amount of time engaging in online social interactions and are thus more susceptible to harm. To address these concerns, we propose a solution that uses Synesketch and the Euclidean distance measure to filter emotionally harmful content in social media. We demonstrated the practical application of our approach on a dataset of tweets obtained through the Twitter API and achieved promising results. Our proposed approach can be valuable in various natural language processing applications, such as sentiment analysis, opinion mining, and social media monitoring. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Mapping applications onto multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC) devices is a well-known and complex optimization problem, receiving large interest in recent years. Diverse frameworks for mapping optimization have been developed, that typically distribute application tasks to available processors while optimizing one or more objectives such as performance and energy consumption. However, even though the memory subsystem is a resource that contributes drastically to the overall performance and energy consumption of the MPSoC, no mapping optimization framework is considering it so far. This paper addresses this challenge, and investigates the effect of memory hierarchies for MPSoC mapping. A memory-aware mapping optimization tool (that we refer to as MAMOT) has been developed for this purpose. We primarily focus on heterogeneous MPSoCs with heterogeneous memory hierarchies. Our evaluations show that considering memory mapping during MPSoC mapping optimization may reduce the application runtime up to 29.5% and its energy consumption up to 40%. © 2012 IEEE.

Person matching is an important topic in video- surveillance and can be used to design detection, tracking and recognition systems. Multi-scale covariance (MSCOV) is considered as one of the most promising descriptors for person matching. Unfortunately, implementing such descriptors for person matching requires heavy computation. For a system that requires real-Time matching, visual information needs to be fast processed without reducing accuracy. Parallel processing is frequently adopted to speed-up execution-Time. This paper presents an optimized parallel model of a person matching system based on MSCOV. To this aim, a high-level parallelization approach based on the exploration of task and data levels of parallelism is adopted. Starting from the block diagram, an initial model that extracts the maximum task-level parallelism is proposed. This model is implemented and validated at a high system-level. Analyzing the communication and computation workload results, the potential bottlenecks of this model are identified. An optimized parallel model with the best workload balance is then developed. This model is prototyped and validated using a multicore architecture. The experimental results are promising and the system is shown to perform person matching in real-Time with 16.33 fps using a dual-core ARM-Cortex-A9.

We present a comparison of two camera configurations for avoiding obstacles in 3D-space using optic flow. The two configurations were developed for use on an autonomous helicopter, with the aim of enabling it to fly in environments with tall obstacles (e.g. urban canyons). The comparison is made based on real data captured from two sideways-looking cameras and an omnidirectional camera mounted onboard an autonomous helicopter. Optic flow information from the images is used to determine the relative distance to obstacles on each side of the helicopter. We show that on average, both camera configurations are equally effective and that they can be used to tell which of the canyon walls is closer with an accuracy of 74%. It is noted that each configuration is however more effective under certain conditions, and so a suitable hybrid approach is suggested. We also show that there is a linear relationship between the optic flow ratios and the position of the helicopter with respect to the center of the canyon. We use this relationship to develop a proportional control strategy for flying the helicopter along the Voronoi line between buildings.
