Dual-demodulation large-scope high-sensitivity refractive index sensor based on twin-core PCF

In this paper, a refractive index(RI) sensor based on the twin-core photonic crystal fiber(TC-PCF) is presented. Introducing the rectangular array in the core area makes the PCF possible to obtain high birefringence and low confinement loss over the wavelength range from 0.6 μm to 1.7 μm. Therefore, the core region can enhance the interaction between the core mode and the filling material. We studied theoretically the evolution characteristics of the birefringence and operating wavelength corresponding to the strongest polarization point under the condition of filling the rectangular array with RI matching fluid range from 1.33 to 1.41. Simulation results reveal that the proposed TC-PCF has opposite evolutions of change rates between the B and wavelength, and the maximum RI sensing sensitivities of 1.809× 10-2 B/RIU and 8 700 nm/RIU at low and high RI infill are obtained respectively, which means that the TC-PCF features of dual-parameter demodulation for the RI sensing can maintain a high refractive index sensing sensitivity within a large scope of RI ranging from 1.33 to 1.41. Compared with the results of single-parameter demodulation, it is an optimized method to improve the sensitivity of low refractive index sensors, which has great application potency in the field of biochemical sensing and detection.

With the growing intelligence and personalization of consumer electronic products, extracting effective information has become a key challenge in Consumer Electronics (CE). Triadic Concept Analysis (TCA), an important extension of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA), is widely applied but often struggles to handle the hesitant fuzzy characteristics in real-world data. To address this gap, we propose a Triadic Hesitant Fuzzy Concept (THFC) model. First, we introduce the concept of a triadic hesitant fuzzy background, integrating the fuzzy and hesitant nature of data in the CE environment. We propose a knowledge acquisition method based on THFC, which constructs a multi-granularity knowledge space with a dynamic adjustment mechanism. This method captures subtle distinctions between different types of information and their hierarchical structures in the context of CE, offering significant support for knowledge discovery and decision-making in complex environments. Building on this, we design a variable-precision hybrid similarity measurement (VP-HSM) method to extract core, adjunct, and edge concepts, thus providing more precise and structured knowledge for data analysis and decision-making in CE. Experimental results on publicly available datasets show that the proposed method significantly improves classification accuracy and stability, effectively handling hesitant fuzzy data and improving the accuracy of concept extraction. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

EvoPath: Evolutionary Meta-path Discovery with Large Language Models for Complex Heterogeneous information Networks

Heterogeneous information Networks (HINs) encapsulate diverse entity and relation types, with meta-paths providing essential meta-level semantics for knowledge reasoning, although their utility is constrained by discovery challenges. While Large Language Models (LLMs) offer new prospects for meta-path discovery due to their extensive knowledge encoding and efficiency, their adaptation faces challenges such as corpora bias, lexical discrepancies, and hallucination. This paper pioneers the mitigation of these challenges by presenting EvoPath, an innovative framework that leverages LLMs to efficiently identify high-quality meta-paths. EvoPath is carefully designed, with each component aimed at addressing issues that could lead to potential knowledge conflicts. With a minimal subset of HIN facts, EvoPath iteratively generates and evolves meta-paths by dynamically replaying meta-paths in the buffer with prioritization based on their scores. Comprehensive experiments on three large, complex HINs with hundreds of relations demonstrate that our framework, EvoPath, enables LLMs to generate high-quality meta-paths through effective prompting, confirming its superior performance in HIN reasoning tasks. As the advancement of computer technique and artificial intelligence technology, education based on computer technology has become a hot topic, and the wave of educational informatization is rising. Among them, adaptive learning has received widespread attention as a type of educational informatization technology. However, the current adaptive learning feature models use different semantics to describe each other, and the models lack meta model level explanations, resulting in a lack of further operability of the models and difficulty in integrating with each other. In order to solve these problems, our paper proposes a fusion and verification method for learning feature adaptive models based on meta models. Above all, an adaptive learning feature meta model is proposed, which defines the construction rules of the adaptive learning feature model at meta model level, so that different models can be fused using the same set of semantic rules. Then, at the meta model level, transform the learning model into a requirement model. Finally, using formal methods, validate the fused feature model, which can make sure of the semantic consistency between the previous and subsequent models. This article demonstrates the entire process through a model fusion experiment. The experimental results indicate that this method is correct and feasible in promoting feature model fusion without adaptive learning. © 2024 SPIE.

Due to the increasing importance of complex systems, the problems of modelling and simulation (M&S) of these systems, their approaches and solutions have been studied extensively these last years. In this paper, we present a novel approach to modelling and simulation of discrete event dynamic systems (DEDS), based on the combination of discrete event systems specification (DEVS) and agent group role (AGR). In this study, the DEVS atomic models are transformed into agents and the DEVS coupled models into groups of agents. Thus, we provide a set of procedures and functions that allow the systematic transformation from DEVS into AGR models in order to be implemented in multi-agent platforms. The upcoming 6G mobile wireless networks are expected to support massive ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (mURLLC), which is an emerging service that demands more stringent requirements than the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks on delay and error-rate bounded quality-of-services (QoS) with massive connectivity. Finite blocklength coding (FBC) techniques based short packets communication techniques have been shown to be able to support both the statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS provisioning. Rate splitting (RS) multiple access schemes have been proposed to address the sum degree-of-freedom loss problem over massive multiple-input and multiple-output channels when massive mobile users request to access the network. However, how to support the statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS provisioning using FBC among massive mobile users to enable the massive access has not been sufficiently studied. In this paper, we propose to integrate FBC with RS techniques to achieve mURLLC transmissions. First, we define the ∊-effective capacity to measure the performance of statistical delay and error-rate bounded provisioning, and obtain a closed-form ∊-effective capacity under the RS scheme. Then, we maximize the aggregate ∊-effective capacity over all mobile users by deriving an optimal transmit power allocation strategy for the RS scheme. Finally, using numerical analyses, we validate and evaluate our proposed RS schemes to support statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS provisioning over 6G communication networks in the non-asymptotic regime.

Understanding human personality traits is significant as it helps in decision making related to consumers’ behavior, career counselling, team building and top candidates’ selection for recruitment. Among various traits, openness is essential as it shows both diverse aspects of sensitive nature or intuitive nature. The individuals having a sensing nature tends to be more practical and prefer to focus on concrete information whereas the users having intuitive trait type is characterized by a focus on abstract ideas, creative thinking and future-oriented perspectives. In this research work, we aim to explore diverse natural language processing (NLP) based features and apply state of the art deep learning algorithms for openness trait prediction. Using standard Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) dataset, we propose the use of the latest deep features of sentence embeddings which captures contextual semantics of the content to be used with deep learning models. For comparison, we explore textual features of Frequency-Inverse Document (TF-IDF) and parts of speech (POS) tagging with machine learning models and deep features of word2vec and global vectors for word representation (GloVe) with deep learning models. The comprehensive empirical analysis reveals that TF-IDF used with gradient boosting achieves high accuracy of 90% whereas, the deep feature of sentence embeddings when used and with deep model bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) achieves 90.5% accuracy. The best results have been achieved using the latest Transformer-based DistilBERT, which achieves the highest accuracy of 92% outperforming the existing studies in relevant literature. Hierarchical Continual Learning for Domain-Knowledge Retention in Healthcare Federated Learning

Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) applications encounter issues with data protection, continual adaptation, and domain-specific knowledge retention, especially in consumer-centric IoMT scenarios. We overcome these obstacles and facilitate effective knowledge retention and task adaptation in IoMT applications. This study attempts to create a unique privacy-preserving federated learning framework that combines a hierarchical learning structure with Continual Learning (CL). Despite the advancements in Federated Learning (FL), current models have trouble integrating changing datasets in real-time while protecting privacy, as well as catastrophic forgetting, which occurs when previously learned knowledge is lost when adjusting to new tasks. We present a hierarchical learning framework that makes use of three levels of models -Junior Model (JM), Consultant Model (CM), and Senior Consultant Model (SCM) -to overcome these drawbacks. Each level of the model aids in archived retention and domain-knowledge adaptation. To guarantee that the model maintains valuable information over time and adapts to new tasks with ease, our method blends domain adaptation strategies with ongoing learning approaches like knowledge distillation and elastic weight consolidation (EWC). We compare the suggested methodology with current state-of-the-art (SOTA) models on healthcare datasets for tasks like illness diagnosis and medical image categorization. According to our findings, the hierarchical continual learning model performs better than SOTA techniques in terms of accuracy, task adaptability, and privacy protection. In the healthcare industry, our study sets a new standard for privacy-preserving, continuously adaptable federated learning systems, allowing for real-time, scalable IoMT applications that can adapt dynamically to a variety of changing datasets. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Healthcare Professionals’ Perceptions Towards Ai Integration in Jordan's Health Sector

PurposeThe impact of AI on healthcare is widely recognized there remains a scarcity of studies examining how doctors perceive and approach its use in medicine. This study aims to gather insights from healthcare providers in Jordan concerning the advantages of integrating AI into practices, their perspectives on AI applications in healthcare, and their views on the future role of AI in replacing key tasks within health *** survey was conducted among healthcare professionals working at facilities in Jordan. An online questionnaire was used to collect data on demographics, attitudes toward using AI for tasks, and opinions on the benefits of AI adoption. Categorical variables were presented as counts and percentages, while the continuous variables were interpreted as mean and standard deviation. The associations between the determinants and the outcomes were done using one-way ANOVA. Any test with a P-value 0.05 was considered *** total of 612 healthcare professionals participated in the survey with females comprising a majority of respondents (52.8%). The majority of respondents showed optimism about AI’s potential to improve and revolutionize the field, although there were concerns about AI replacing human roles. Generally, physical therapists, medical researchers, and pharmacists displayed openness to incorporating AI into their work routines. Younger individuals aged between 18 and 40 seemed accepting of AI in the domain. A significant portion of participants believed that AI could negatively impact job opportunities and reduce the time needed for diagnosing conditions, but did not find any correlation, between responses and *** conclude, the results of this study suggest that healthcare professionals, in Jordan, hold receptive views on incorporating artificial intelligence in the medical field similar to their counterparts in developed nations.
