Segment-Adaptive Spread Spectrum Audio Watermarking Using NSGA-Ⅱ

In the field of robust audio watermarking,how to seek a good trade-off between robustness and imperceptibility is challenging. The existing studies use the same embedding parameter for each part of the audio signal, which ignores that different parts may have different requirements for embedding parameters. In this work, the constraints on imperceptibility are first ***, we present a segment multi-objective optimization model of the scaling parameter under the constrained Signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) in Spread spectrum(SS)audio watermarking. Additionally, we adopt the Nondominated sorting genetic algorithm Ⅱ(NSGA-Ⅱ) to solve the proposed model. Finally, we compare our algorithm(called SS-SNR-NSGA-Ⅱ) with the existing methods. The experimental results show that the proposed SS-SNRNSGA-Ⅱ not only provides flexible choices for different application demands but also achieves more and better trade-offs between imperceptibility and robustness.

Education is essential for achieving many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, the education system focuses on empowering more educated people and improving the quality of the education system. One of the latest technologies to enhance the quality of education is Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Machine Learning (ML). As a result, ML has a significant influence on the education system. ML is currently widely applied in the education system for various tasks, such as creating models by monitoring student performance and activities that accurately predict student outcomes, their engagement in learning activities, decision-making, problem-solving capabilities, etc. In this research, we provide a survey of machine learning frameworks for both distributed (clusters of schools and universities) and centralized (university or school) educational institutions to predict the quality of students' learning outcomes and find solutions to improve the quality of their education system. Additionally, this work explores the application of ML in teaching and learning for further improvements in the learning environment for centralized and distributed education systems. © 2023 IEEE.

CADEC: A Combinatorial Auction for Dynamic Distributed DNN Inference Scheduling in Edge-Cloud Networks

Deep Neural Network (DNN) Inference, as a key enabler of intelligent applications, is often computation-intensive and latency-sensitive. Combining the advantages of cloud computing (abundant computing resources) and edge computing (fast transmission), edge-cloud collaborative DNN inference is a powerful solution to these problems. However, in edge-cloud networks with heterogeneous resources, how to obtain reasonable decisions on server selection, model partition and resource allocation for efficient distributed DNN inference is a hard challenge. Furthermore, it is non-trivial to design suitable resource prices to maximize the social welfare. These challenges even escalate in dynamic edge-cloud networks where decisions should be generated as soon as each user arrives without future information. Therefore, we design a combinatorial auction for dynamic distributed DNN inference scheduling, named CADEC. CADEC first constructs a bid set for each user based on convex optimization theory for optimal solution searching. Next, prices of resources in the edge-cloud network are adjusted according to changes in supply-demand relationship, and whether to admit the request of each user is decided. Finally, the dynamic distributed inference scheduling decisions are generated through the primal-dual algorithm to maximize the social welfare. Theoretical analysis shows the good competitive ratio and polynomial time complexity of CADEC. Results of simulation experiments present that CADEC improves social welfare by up to 46% compared with state-of-the-art distributed DNN inference schemes. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

The application of CBCT systems in intraoperative environments has become increasingly common, but concurrent CBCT systems are unsuitable for situations that require a large longitudinal imaging FoV, such as orthopedics. To increase longitudinal coverage, we developed a dual-source CBCT (DS-CBCT) system in which two ray sources are symmetrically placed along the central plane. After further analyzing its geometric characteristics, we propose an analytical reconstruction algorithm termed DT-FDK specialized for DS-CBCT, which combines cone-beam rebinning and two rays with smaller cone angles among the four conjugate rays to further suppress cone beam artifacts. The system design and reconstruction algorithm are tested on both simulated and real-scanned data. Results show that the DS-CBCT can expand the effective imaging volume by 37.1% compared to single-source CBCT systems. The reconstructed images by DT-FDK also show improved image quality compared to traditional reconstruction algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

In contemporary times, nations like Sri Lanka are actively enhancing their efforts to improve the life expectancy of their citizens, with a strong focus on public health. The relationship between health and life expectancy is pivotal. Poor health conditions tend to diminish life expectancy, while robust health measures tend to extend it. Within the context of health, birth and death events are of paramount importance. Birth represents the genesis of life, enabling individuals to contribute to future generations and the overall population's expansion. It's the cornerstone of life on our planet. However, modern times have witnessed challenges in pregnancy and childbirth, with some infants not surviving the prenatal period or being born with health complications. Consequently, there is a pressing need to present a solution that can contribute to the betterment of maternal and infant health, ultimately augmenting Sri Lanka's life expectancy. The proposed solution is the development of a mobile application, encompassing features such as a Nutrition Predictor, Medicine Effect Predictor, AI chatbot, and Baby Status Predictor. This innovative application aims to address the complex issues surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, with the overarching goal of improving the nation's life expectancy.

The industrial sector has entered a phase of profound change which sees digital technologies being integrated into the heart of industrial processes. This fourth industrial era gives birth to a new generation of factory called “Digital Factory”, “Industry 4.0”. This industrial change is the result of the integration of new digital technologies into manufacturing processes and the optimization of energy consumption. The commitment to the environment is also a key and success factor of Industry 4.0 and green in particular the reduction of carbon emissions and pollution. This is how smart green industry try to take in charge the problem of energy consumption and to reduce the Co2 pollution. The goal of this paper is to present the new model of smart green industry using distributed artificial intelligence based on multi-agent system (MAS). The motivation to use the intelligent approach based on MAS is based on the similarity between the fundamental concepts of the cyber-physical system and those contained in the architecture and operation of MAS such as communication, coordination, decision and cooperation.

The neurological condition epilepsy is demanding and even fatal. Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based epilepsy detection still faces various difficulties. EEG readings fluctuate, and different patients have various seizure activity patterns. EEG signal detection is time-consuming and labour-intensive, which puts a strain on medical staff and raises the possibility of erroneous detections. Usually, electrodes are inserted into the scalp or inside the brain for a brief period of time in order to obtain EEG data. It is essential to research efficient cross-patient automatic epilepsy detection techniques. The multi-head self-attention mechanism recognises long-distance dependencies with the same proficiency as it does temporal dynamic correlations between short-term temporal pattern characteristics and sequential relationships. The contextual representations are inputted into a bidirectional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM) so that information can be extracted in both directions. Classification and training are carried out utilising the log SoftMax algorithm. The experiments utilised scalp EEG data from the CHB-MIT database. Sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and accuracy were computed to be 96.5 percent, 97.04 percent, 96.6 percent, and 96.2 percent, respectively. The results of the experiment show how well the technique works for detecting seizures in several patients utilising multi-channel EEG recordings. The results also demonstrate the method's improved generalisation capabilities and resilience and consistency in collecting seizure patterns. This is particularly critical for the tertiary diagnosis of epilepsy, and the findings indicate that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy of detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Exploring Text-Guided Single Image Editing for Remote Sensing Images

Artificial intelligence generative content (AIGC) has significantly impacted image generation in the field of remote sensing. However, the equally important area of remote sensing image (RSI) editing has not received sufficient attention. Deep learning based editing methods generally involve two sequential stages: generation and editing. During the generation stage, consistency in content and details between the original and edited images must be maintained, while in the editing stage, controllability and accuracy of the edits should be ensured. For natural images, these challenges can be tackled by training generative backbones on large-scale benchmark datasets and using text guidance based on vision-language models (VLMs). However, these previously effective approaches become less viable for RSIs due to two reasons: First, existing generative RSI benchmark datasets do not fully capture the diversity of remote sensing scenarios, particularly in terms of variations in sensors, object types, and resolutions. Consequently, the generalization capacity of the trained backbone model is often inadequate for universal editing tasks on RSIs. Second, the large spatial resolution of RSIs exacerbates the problem in VLMs where a single text semantic corresponds to multiple image semantics, leading to the introduction of incorrect semantics when using text to guide RSI editing. To solve above problems, this paper proposes a text-guided RSI editing method that is controllable but stable, and can be trained using only a single image. It adopts a multi-scale training approach to preserve consistency without the need for training on extensive benchmark datasets, while leveraging RSI pre-trained VLMs and prompt ensembling (PE) to ensure accuracy and controllability in the text-guided editing process. The rapid development and usage of digital technologies in modern intelligent systems and applications bring critical challenges on data security and privacy. It is essential to allow cross-organizational data sharing to achieve smart service provisioning, while preventing unauthorized access and data leak to ensure end users’ efficient and secure collaborations. Federated Learning (FL) offers a promising pathway to enable innovative collaboration across multiple organizations. However, more stringent security policies are needed to ensure authenticity of participating entities, safeguard data during communication, and prevent malicious activities. In this paper, we propose a Decentralized Federated Graph Learning (FGL) with Lightweight Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) model, named DFGL-LZTA, to provide context-aware security with dynamic defense policy update, while maintaining computational and communication efficiency in resource-constrained environments, for highly distributed and heterogeneous systems in next-generation networking. Specifically, with a re-designed lightweight ZTA, which leverages adaptive privacy preservation and reputation-based aggregation together to tackle multi-level security threats (e.g., data-level, model-level, and identity-level attacks), a Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) based Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) agent is introduced to enable the real-time and adaptive security policy update and optimization based on contextual features. A hierarchical Graph Attention Network (GAT) mechanism is then improved and applied to facilitate the dynamic subgraph learning in local training with a layer-wise architecture, while a so-called sparse global aggregation scheme is developed to balance the communication efficiency and model robustness in a P2P manner. Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in men, making early detection crucial for effective treatment. This study explores the efficacy of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models in detecting PCa lesions using radiomics features derived from multiparametric MRI data. Leveraging a dataset of 7621 retrospective and 2132 prospective cases from 12 clinical centers across Europe, we compared the performance of various ML (LASSO, Random Forest, SVM, XGBoost) and DL models (CNN, MLP, Transformer, CNN&MLP). Radiomic features were extracted and refined through a robust feature selection process. Models' performance was evaluated through nested cross-validation (CV) and externally. The CNN&MLP model achieved the highest ROC AUC (0.86) and PR AUC (0.90) in CV, while LASSO showed consistent generalization in external validation. Our findings indicate that DL models excel in high-dimensional data analysis but face challenges in generalizing to external datasets, highlighting the importance of external validation for clinical applicability. © 2025 IEEE.
