Similar learner determination has become a research hotspot in the field of personalized recommendation due to its lightweight method. At present, similar learner determination mainly adopts algorithms such as collaborative filtering, but such methods lack interpretability and cannot guarantee the reliability of the determination results. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes a method for determining and verifying the similarity of learning time behavior sequences based on bisimulation, which uses logical reasoning to determine the similarity of learners, and uses tools to verify the correctness of the determination results. Firstly, the behavior properties of Temporal Calculus of Communication System (TCCS) are extended, and Learning Resources-Temporal Calculus of Communication System (LR-TCCS) is proposed to model the learning time-behavior sequence of learners. Secondly, we determine the similarity of learning time-behavior sequence through bisimulation. Thirdly, the bisimulation verification tool MWB is used to verify the similarity of learning time-behavior sequence, and to determine the optimal learner among similar learners through time allocation algorithm and behavior frequency analysis algorithm;Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified by an example. © 2022 IEEE.

Continuous glucose monitoring(CGM) technology has grown rapidly to track real-time blood glucose levels and trends with improved sensor accuracy. The ease of use and wide availability of CGM will facilitate safe and effective decision making for diabetes management. Here, we developed an attention-based deep learning model, CGMformer, pretrained on a well-controlled and diverse corpus of CGM data to represent individual's intrinsic metabolic state and enable clinical applications. During pretraining, CGMformer encodes glucose dynamics including glucose level, fluctuation, hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia into latent space with self-supervised learning. It shows generalizability in imputing glucose value across five external datasets with different populations and metabolic states(MAE = 3.7 mg/d L). We then fine-tuned CGMformer towards a diverse panel of downstream tasks in the screening of diabetes and its complications using task-specific data, which demonstrated a consistently boosted predictive accuracy over direct fine-tuning on a single task(AUROC = 0.914 for type 2 diabetes(T2D) screening and 0.741 for complication screening). By learning an intrinsic representation of an individual's glucose dynamics,CGMformer classifies non-diabetic individuals into six clusters with elevated T2D risks, and identifies a specific cluster with lean body-shape but high risk of glucose metabolism disorders, which is overlooked by traditional glucose measurements. Furthermore, CGMformer achieves high accuracy in predicting an individual's postprandial glucose response with dietary modelling(Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.763)and helps personalized dietary recommendations. Improved industrial defect detection is deemed critical for ensuring high-quality manufacturing processes. Despite the effectiveness of knowledge distillation in detecting defects, there are still challenges in extracting useful features and designing a better student network. In this study, a new framework based on knowledge distillation is proposed to address these issues. To avoid overfitting and balance anomaly detection between image and pixel levels, a simplified student decoding network is designed. To extract more diverse features, a multi-teacher network is used in the teacher network. Simple addition and concatenation operations for feature maps were not sufficient, the method fuses features iteratively using attention mechanisms utilized for the multi-teacher networks. The approach is evaluated on two benchmark datasets for industrial defect detection, Mvtec and BTAD, and significantly improved performance is achieved compared to the other methods. An average accuracy of 99.22% and 97.46% for image-level and pixel-level ROC-AUC, respectively, is achieved on the Mvtec dataset, and 93.47% and 96.3% on the BTAD dataset. In this study, machine learning (ML) techniques are employed to predict used car prices. Several features are used to calculate the price of used cars, but in this paper, we find efficient ways to find the most precise car prices. Despite the fact that there are websites offering this service, they could not employ the most precise prediction system. It is also possible to predict a used car's true market value using a variety of models and techniques. It's important to understand their genuine market value before buying or selling. Both buyers and sellers will be benefitted from these accurate predictions. Support Vector regression, Random Forest regression, and CatBoost regression techniques are used in the proposed system. In the existing method [13], mean absolute error for decision tree regression was 0.6711, which was the least among other algorithms like Linear regression, Lasso regression, Ridge regression, Bayesian Ridge regression, and etc., they used. In the proposed system, mean absolute error (MAE) for Support Vector regression, CatBoost regression and Random Forest regression techniques are 0.1459, 0.1371 and 0.1284 respectively. The prices of second hand/used cars are predicted using the CatBoost regression, Support Vector regression, and Random Forest regression techniques. The accuracy of these algorithms are 86.28%, 85.40% and 87.16%. Among these three algorithms, Random Forest regression gives the least MAE of 0.1317 and the highest accuracy of 87.16%. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

Visual inspection of dual-energy X-ray radiographic images of cabin baggage requires high performance, but is hindered by various challenges such as low target prevalence, variability in target visibility, possible presence of multiple targets, and security personnel fatigue and inattention. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, particularly deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown promise in improving the automatic detection of explosives, even with low-resolution radiographic images, especially in high baggage throughput scenarios. In this paper, we focus on the detection of detonators as components of improvised explosive devices. The proposed approach involves comparing two experiments implemented in a deep CNN architecture using TensorFlow and Keras libraries. In the first experiment, raw dual-energy radiographic images without any enhancement were used. The second experiment includes three methods for contrast enhancement and feature extraction: the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) method, the wavelet transform-based method, and the mixed CLAHE RGB-Wavelet method. In the latter two methods, Haar, Db2, Coif2, and Sym2 mother wavelet functions at two levels (HH and HL) were employed. The analysis of results focuses on a comparative study of performance measures such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. It was found that the preprocessing methods used in experiment 2, for the two evaluated classes (detonator and no detonator), achieved higher accuracy compared to the raw radiographic images used in experiment 1 (98.08%). The highest accuracies in experiment 2, with a value of 100%, were obtained with the CLAHE method (green channel in grayscale, blue channel in grayscale, and RGB channels) and the wavelet transform method with Haar mother wavelet at two levels HL © 2024 IEEE.

High-Fidelity and High-Efficiency Talking Portrait Synthesis With Detail-Aware Neural Radiance Fields

In this paper, we propose a novel rendering framework based on neural radiance fields (NeRF) named HH-NeRF that can generate high-resolution audio-driven talking portrait videos with high fidelity and fast rendering. Specifically, our framework includes a detail-aware NeRF module and an efficient conditional super-resolution module. Firstly, a detail-aware NeRF is proposed to efficiently generate a high-fidelity low-resolution talking head, by using the encoded volume density estimation and audio-eye-aware color calculation. This module can capture natural eye blinks and high-frequency details, and maintain a similar rendering time as previous fast methods. Secondly, we present an efficient conditional super-resolution module on the dynamic scene to directly generate the high-resolution portrait with our low-resolution head. Incorporated with the prior information, such as depth map and audio features, our new proposed efficient conditional super resolution module can adopt a lightweight network to efficiently generate realistic and distinct high-resolution videos. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method can generate more distinct and fidelity talking portraits on high resolution (900 × 900) videos compared to state-of-the-art methods. Low-earth-orbit satellite constellation (e.g., Starlink) is becoming the indispensable component of future Internet. Due to the mobility nature, ground-satellite links (GSLs) and inter-satellite links (ISLs) are not as stable as the fiber links of wired Internet. Consequently, end-to-end TCP connections traversing the LEO constellation will suffer from packet loss and latency variation caused by GSL handover and ISL failure. However, typical congestion control algorithms (e.g., loss-based CUBIC and bandwidth-estimated BBR) rely on these feedbacks to detect congestion in wired Internet. This leads to performance degradation for CUBIC/BBR in LEO satellite networks. In this paper, we propose a Default-and-Backup Routing (DB-R) mechanism to enhance the performance of CUBIC/BBR in LEO satellite networks. Specifically, DB-R leverages default routing to address the packet loss caused by frequent GSL handover. Moreover, DB- R utilizes backup routing to eliminate the packet loss caused by occasional ISL failure. Overall, DB-R only incurs negligible control overhead, but can effectively improve the performance of CUBIC and BBR in LEO satellite networks. We implement DB-R in Linux kernel and evaluate its performance based on OpenSN (i.e., an open-source libarary for emulating LEO satellite networks). Results show that our DB-R mechanism can improve the average throughput of CUBIC (and BBR, respectively) by up to 37 % (and 18 %, respectively) compared with classic OSPF.

Predicting how pedestrians will move is a valuable and challenging task. It can be applied to various domains, such as crowd evacuation and autonomous driving. However, in practice, scene information and pedestrian interaction make it difficult to accurately predict pedestrian trajectories. Therefore, more effective processing of information affecting pedestrian trajectories is particularly important. Extraction of pedestrian motion features is insufficient in current research in this area. To address this problem, a neural network trajectory prediction method, PMC-CNN, is proposed. This method incorporates pedestrian motion features and stores the heterogeneous information required for prediction within a knowledge graph. Furthermore, it combines this information with the proposed IN-EX pedestrian motion model, resulting in an improvement in prediction accuracy. In addition, this research applies the prediction framework to a crowd evacuation scenario to improve the efficiency of crowd evacuation. This verifies the effectiveness and practicality of our proposed model.

Fingerprint Presentation Attack Detector Using Global-Local Model

The vulnerability of automated fingerprint recognition systems (AFRSs) to presentation attacks (PAs) promotes the vigorous development of PA detection (PAD) technology. However, PAD methods have been limited by information loss and poor generalization ability, resulting in new PA materials and fingerprint sensors. This paper thus proposes a global-local model-based PAD (RTK-PAD) method to overcome those limitations to some extent. The proposed method consists of three modules, called: 1) the global module;2) the local module;and 3) the rethinking module. By adopting the cut-out-based global module, a global spoofness score predicted from nonlocal features of the entire fingerprint images can be achieved. While by using the texture in-painting-based local module, a local spoofness score predicted from fingerprint patches is obtained. The two modules are not independent but connected through our proposed rethinking module by localizing two discriminative patches for the local module based on the global spoofness score. Finally, the fusion spoofness score by averaging the global and local spoofness scores is used for PAD. Our experimental results evaluated on LivDet 2017 show that the proposed RTK-PAD can achieve an average classification error (ACE) of 2.28% and a true detection rate (TDR) of 91.19% when the false detection rate (FDR) equals 1.0%, which significantly outperformed the state-of-the-art methods by ∼10% in terms of TDR (91.19% versus 80.74%).
