Pushing artificial intelligence(AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things(AIoT) in the sixth-generation(6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the vast amount of data scattered at the wireless network edge. Typically, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the processes of sensing, communication,and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, ***, conventional wireless networks design the three mentioned ingredients separately in a task-agnostic manner, which leads to difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications like auto-driving and metaverse. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamlessly integrated sensing, communication, and computation(ISCC) in a taskoriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in downstream AI tasks. In view of its growing interest, this study provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art advancements, and shedding light on the road ahead.

Covert Communications With Randomly Distributed Adversaries in Wireless Energy Harvesting Enabled D2D Underlaying Cellular Networks

Wireless energy harvesting (WEH) enabled Device-to-Device (D2D) communication emerges as an effective technique to improve spectral and energy efficiencies. However, D2D users are usually power-constrained devices that may be monitored or attacked by adversaries easily. To confuse randomly distributed adversaries in WEH-enabled D2D underlaying cellular networks, power beacons (PBs) can be used to send jamming signals in idle time slots. A time slot is divided into two sub-slots, i.e., WEH sub-slot and covert transmission sub-slot. The energy collected by a D2D transmitter in the first sub-slot is used to support possible covert transmission in the second sub-slot. The performance of the proposed scheme is measured by covert throughput, which is defined as D2D communication rate with several constraints, e.g., wireless energy harvesting, covertness, and cellular link communication requirements. The closed-form expressions of energy outage probability, covert probability, and desired link connection outage probabilities are derived. The minimum covert probability is used to measure covertness. Moreover, an alternating optimization algorithm is adopted to maximize covert throughput. The analytical results are compared with Monte-Carlo simulation results to verify the analytical approach. In addition, the impacts of different parameters (e.g., density of PBs and covert signal transmit power) on covert performance are evaluated. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Long Short-Term Memory Auto-Encoder-Based Position Prediction Model for Fixed-Wing UAV during Communication Failure

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's) safe flight is one of the most important tasks of ground control stations (GCS). However, sometimes due to communication failure between ground data terminal (GDT) and UAV, GCS is not able to ensure a safe flight, which could be hazardous. In such conditions, the accurate UAV position finding prediction becomes essential to serve as sustenance for UAVs. Hence, this article proposes a UAV's position finding prediction model using a deep neural network application for successfully pointing the GDT toward UAV in real time. The proposed work consists of three components, namely data preprocessing, long short-term memory autoencoder (LSTM-AE)-based deep learning model, and mathematical formulation to calculate the ground radar look angle. First, we use different preprocessing techniques on a historical raw dataset for better visualization and generate patterns. To achieve this, Tensor flow along with Keras packages have been used. Next, an LSTM autoencoder deep learning model is applied to the same dataset in order to predict an accurate 4-D position of the UAV. Finally, the output from the LSTM autoencoder model is used in a mathematical model to calculate the GDT look-angles called Azimuth and Elevation. Both the parameters have been used to point the GDT toward the predicted point on the Airspace. We evaluate our proposed model against famous evaluation matrices, namely mean absolute error, mean square error, and root-mean-square error to validate the experimental results. © 2022 IEEE.

Principled Design of Translation, Scale, and Rotation Invariant Variation Operators for Metaheuristics

A large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed,new operators are automatically designed in this work,which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different *** work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. This work then deduces the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators, and proposes a principled approach for the automated design of operators, which searches for high-performance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-the-art ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000decision variables.

For a coupled slow-fast FitzHugh-Nagumo(FHN)equation derived from a reaction-diffusionmechanics(RDM)model,Holzer et al.(2013)studied the existence and stability of the travelling pulse,which consists of two fast orbit arcs and two slow ones,where one fast segment passes the unique fold point with algebraic decreasing and two slow ones follow normally hyperbolic critical curve *** and Zhang(2021)obtained the existence of the travelling pulse,whose two fast orbit arcs both exponentially decrease,and one of the slow orbit arcs could be normally hyperbolic or not at the ***,we characterize both the nonlinear and spectral stability of this travelling pulse.

Unsupervised sentence embedding learning excels through positive sample construction and instance-level contrastive learning (ICL). However, this approach can lead to over-compression and dimensional contamination from noisy data augmentation and unconstrained ICL processes. To mitigate these issues, we propose a novel enhancement method, MSSE, which incorporates an Information Compensation Mechanism (ICM) and a Dimensional-Level Contrastive Learning Mechanism (DCM). ICM, inspired by the information bottleneck principle, prevents excessive compression in representation learning. DCM constrains ICL and minimizes information leakage across dimensions. Experimental results show that MSSE surpasses existing competitive baselines across seven STS tasks, including unsupervised and few-shot scenarios. APFT: Adaptive Phoneme Filter Template to Generate Anti-Compression Speech Adversarial Example in Real-Time

Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems are widely used for speech censoring. Speech Adversarial Example (AE) offers a novel approach to protect speech privacy by forcing ASR to mistranscribe. However, existing speech AE faces two challenges in real-time voice communication scenarios, such as IP telephone, voice chat, or video conference, it cannot be generated in real-time, and its defensive capability is significantly reduced after the essential audio compression for network transmission. In this paper, we propose Adaptive Phoneme Filter Template (APFT) to address these issues. The key features of APFT include: 1) Phoneme-level Templates for universal AE generation in real-time, 2) Filter, which eliminates redundant signals to improve compression robustness. 3) Adaptive Band Filtering, which limits the attack area from the frequency band without affecting the attack effectiveness and improves speech quality. The comprehensive experimental results show that APFT has four advantages: 1) Real-time Generation, with AE generation time below 1.1ms for 1s speech;2) Compression Robustness, achieving a WER of 0.64 under AAC and Opus codecs;3) Transferability, with an average WER of 0.72 across datasets and ASR systems;4) Stealthiness, achieving a MOS of 4.07 for high-quality speech. In addition, the experiment on Telegram voice calls further proves the practical applicability of APFT. © 2005-2012 IEEE.
