Differential pressure (DP) flow meters are playing an increasingly important role in multiphase flow in petroleum industry. The long waist cone flow meter, as a new type of DP flow meter, is introduced in this paper. And its flow field in a horizontal pipe of 50mm diameter is numerically simulated with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), in search of the optimum pressure-tapping method. The results of numerical simulations indicate that the long waist cone flow meter has the merits of the annular channel flow meters by forming an annular flow in annular channel region, which makes it possible to improve the repeatability and accuracy of measurement. The high pressure port at the 1D upstream of the cone's entrance section and the low pressure port at the middle of annular channel region and 3D downstream of the cone's exit section are the optimum pressure-tapping methods. The relative error of discharge coefficient is within ±0.5%. This investigation will provide a theoretical and design basis for the development of new DP flow meters.

Conductance sensor array is widely used in measuring two-phase flow parameters, in this paper we propose a new configuration of conductance sensors with six rectangular electrodes of same size from the pipe facing to an inner ring-type electrode and use it to measure gas cross-sectional-averaged water holdup value. The designed six rectangular electrodes are axially flush-mounted on the inside wall of an insulating duct. The geometry of six electrodes conductance sensor was determined with finite element numerical analysis. Sensor optimization of the electric field such as uniformity, spatial sensitivity is proposed. This configuration can improve measurement accuracy, through analyze sensitivity distribution, the role of soft field is discussed, and acquired the final size of the electrodes in the end. The simulation results were obtained from COMSOL Multiphysics finite element software.

This paper introduces a method of forming up the cross sectional velocity profile of horizontal two-phase flow by adopting a dual-plane Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) system and cross correlation method. The preliminary results are presented with numerical simulations, where a pixel-like mesh is used to segment the cross section of the measuring field. The relationship between the peripheral voltages measured from the electrodes with a feature value within a specific pixel is determined. The numerical simulation results show that this method can provide a visual distribution of velocity profile of dispersed phase within a continuous phase in the cross section of the pipeline.

The computer control system of a steel plant is composed of Siemens S7-400 PLC and configuration software WinCC. In order to achieve real-time control of water flow accurately in quenching process, this paper uses a combination of Smith predictor and PID controller to compensate time delay of system and overcome problems caused by the delay. The quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been a focus for unmanned aerial vehicles. Ground control system (GCS) is an important part of the quadrotor UAV flight control system, and it can promote the flight performance and safety of quadrotor UAVs. In this paper, a quadrotor UAV GCS is designed and implemented, and the GCS realizes the following functions, including receiving and storing of the flight data, the real-time localization utilizing the customization of electronic maps like MapX and Google Earth, the visual display of flight states via virtual instruments and the waypoint planning. Outdoor experiments have been done to verify the GCS's performance. It can be concluded that the proposed GCS in this paper can work stably, and it can guarantee the integrity of the flight data, the accuracy of the instruments display and map localization.
