Domain transfer spatiotemporal graph network for predicting key indicators in multimode chemical processes

In modern chemical industries, soft sensors related to key indicators are crucial in production processes, particularly for multimode chemical processes. However, challenges arise from scarce labeled data and constant process shifts, which complicate the development of these sensors. Additionally, complex process variable interactions hinder prediction interpretability. This work develops a domain transfer spatiotemporal graph network (DTSGN) regression model, tailored for cross-domain modeling in multimode chemical processes. The DTSGN model first employs graph convolution to capture spatial dependencies and gating mechanism to track temporal relationships. A Bernoulli-distributed perturbation graph enhances model robustness. By embedding constraints into conditional distribution discrepancy, the parameters for DTSGN are calibrated under the fine-tuning paradigm for new mode. Therefore, the model extends its applicability to address process shifts in multimode chemical processes. A graph explainer finally ensures interpretability by aligning learned variable graph with process knowledge, and two multimode cases evidence the proposed model's efficacy and superiority. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Blind source separation under an underdetermined reverberation environment is a very challenging issue. The classical method is based on the expectation maximization algorithm. However, it is limited to high reverberation environments, resulting in bad or even invalid separation performance. To eliminate this restriction, a room impulse response reshaping-based expectation maximization method is designed to solve the problem of blind signal separation in an underdetermined reverberant environment. Firstly, a room impulse response reshaping technology is designed to eliminate the influence of audible echo on the reverberant environment, improving the quality of the received signals. Then, a new mathematical model of time-frequency mixing signals is established to reduce the approximation error of model transformation caused by high reverberation. Furthermore, an improved expectation maximization method is proposed for real-time update learning rules of model parameters, and then the sources are separated using the estimators provided by the improved expectation maximization method. Experimental results based on source separation of speech and music mixtures demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves better separation performance while maintaining much better robustness than popular expectation maximization methods. © 2024, The Authors. This paper considers the problem of designing of iterative learning control (ILC) laws for linear batch processes. Unlike the majority of existing results about ILC law design for linear batch processes over repetitive/two-dimensional setting where Lyapunov theory is applied, this study is focused on formulating the ILC law design procedures by transforming it into an equivalent problem of (structural) stability analysis for a linear Roesser model for two-dimensional (2D) systems. Then, based on a non-conservative version of stability and stabilization conditions for linear 2D systems, suitable PD-type ILC laws are derived by the application of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the validity of the proposed design procedure and some advantages are emphasized when compared to the existing alternatives.

This paper investigates the secure synchronization control problem for a class of cyber-physical systems(CPSs)with unknown system matrices and intermittent denial-of-service(DoS)*** the attack free case,an optimal control law consisting of a feedback control and a compensated feedforward control is proposed to achieve the synchronization,and the feedback control gain matrix is learned by iteratively solving an algebraic Riccati equation(ARE).For considering the attack cases,it is difficult to perform the stability analysis of the synchronization errors by using the existing Lyapunov function method due to the presence of unknown system *** order to overcome this difficulty,a matrix polynomial replacement method is given and it is shown that,the proposed optimal control law can still guarantee the asymptotical convergence of synchronization errors if two inequality conditions related with the DoS attacks ***,two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

This paper investigates the cooperative output regulation (COR) of nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs) with long input delay based on periodic event-triggered mechanism. Compared with other mechanisms, periodic event-triggered control can automatically guarantee a Zeno-free behavior and avoid the continuous monitoring of triggered conditions. First, a new periodic event-triggered distributed observer, which is based on the fully asynchronous communication data, is proposed to estimate the leader information. Second, a new distributed predictor feedback control method is proposed for the considered nonlinear MASs with input delay. By coordinate transformation, the MASs are mapped into new coupled ODE-PDE target systems with some disturbance-like terms. Then, we show that the COR problem is solvable. At last, to further save the communication resource, a periodic event-triggered mechanism is considered in the sensor-to-controller transmission in every agent. A new periodic event-triggered filter is proposed to deal with the periodic event-triggered feedback data. The MASs with input delay are mapped into coupled ODE-PDE target systems with sampled data information. Then, Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions are constructed to demonstrate the exponential stability of the MASs. Simulations verify the validity of the proposed results. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

This paper deals with the input-output finite-time sliding mode control (SMC) problem of a class of uncertain Markovian jump systems with incomplete transition rates. It is assumed that the actuator failure may occur. A mode-dependent sliding surface is constructed. By synthesizing a fault-tolerant SMC scheme, the specified sliding surface can be reached in finite time. Furthermore, the input-output finite-time stability over both the reaching and sliding motion stages is ensured simultaneously by establishing some sufficient conditions. Finally, the developed fault-tolerant SMC approach is verified by a numerical example.

This paper systematically studies the problem of resilient controller design for networked control systems under imperfect communication environments. The denial of service (DoS) attacks in the case of an imperfect network are remodeled. The semi-Markov chain is introduced in this paper to provide a suitable description of random attacks. On this basis, the double-layer stochastic process is constructed, which consists of an attack sequence and an observation one. Second, since the attack modes are inaccessible, a controller is constructed based on the observation sequence by virtue of the emission probability to stabilize the system under random attacks. Due to the complexity of the network, the probability that an observer can accurately detect an attack when it occurs is considered unknown. Based on the introduced double-layer stochastic process, a mode-associated Lyapunov function is constructed to facilitate the stability analysis. Building on this foundation, sufficient conditions that can ensure the δ-error mean square stability of the closed-loop system are derived. In the end, a simulation of the unmanned ground vehicle is presented, showcasing the feasibility and validity of the proposed control scheme. © 2025 IEEE.

In recent years, the rapid advancement of electric vehicles has heightened concerns regarding the safety of high-energy batteries. Consequently, there has been a significant focus on the development of fault diagnosis technologies for batteries. Intelligent fault diagnosis (IFD), particularly data-driven approaches, represents a crucial methodology in addressing this concern. This paper proposes a data-driven approach, for IFD in high-energy batteries utilized in electric vehicles. The proposed Exponentially Weighted Average Variational Mode Decomposition (EWVMD) method overcomes these limitations by employing the exponential weighted moving average (EWMA) technique to smooth collected time-series voltage data. This process reduces noise, accentuates abnormal change trends, and yields secondary data with enhanced features. Subsequently, variational mode decomposition (VMD) is applied to the secondary data. The resulting decomposed sub-mode curves (intrinsic mode functions - IMFs) and the change trends of the residual curve, in conjunction with a fault threshold tailored to actual working conditions, are utilized to ascertain the occurrence of faults. Design verification experiments, the C42MSA electric vehicle power supply battery undergoes charging and discharging tests with injected faults at fixed intervals. The collected fault signals are then subjected to fault diagnosis using EWVMD. Results demonstrate the algorithm's superior detection effectiveness and increased sensitivity to fault signals compared to traditional methods.

This paper uses linear matrix inequality techniques and the Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov lemma to design an iterative learning control law for a class of batch processes with state delays. The design procedure is based on the stability theory for repetitive processes, a class of 2D systems. A numerical example illustrates the new design and demonstrates that the design has advantages compared to the existing alternatives.

This paper considers distributed nonconvex op-timization for minimizing the average of local cost functions, by using local information exchange over undirected communication networks. Since the communication channels often have limited bandwidth or capacity, we first introduce a quantization rule and an encoder/decoder scheme to reduce the transmission bits. By integrating them with a distributed algorithm, we then propose a distributed quantized nonconvex optimization algorithm. Assuming the global cost function satisfies the Polyak– Łojasiewicz condition, which does not require the global cost function to be convex and the global minimizer is not necessarily unique, we show that the proposed algorithm linearly converges to a global optimal point. Moreover, a low data rate is shown to be sufficient to ensure linear convergence when the algorithm parameters are properly chosen. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulation examples.
