This paper investigates the problem of H ∞ asynchronous control for discrete-time semi-Markov jump systems. In practice, it is difficult to ensure that controller modes and system modes are updated synchronously. Therefore, a hidden semi-Markov model is introduced to characterize such an asynchronous phenomenon between system modes and controller modes. Meanwhile, the switching signal of the controller is generated by a given conditional probability related to the system mode. Based on the mode-dependent and elapsed-time-dependent Lyapunov function, together with the semi-Markov kernel (SMK) method, sufficient conditions constructed by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived to ensure the existence of an asynchronous controller such that the resulting system is σ-error mean square stable and satisfies an H ∞ performance index. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the method proposed.

The data-driven attack detection and resilient control problems for heterogeneous nonlinear nonaffine multi-agent systems (MASs) in the presence of false data injection (FDI) attacks are investigated in this paper. The heterogeneous nonlinear nonaffine MASs are firstly translated to an equivalent linear data model by using the dynamic linearization method. Then, based on the obtained linear data model, a novel attack detector, by using the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous input neural network (NARXNN), is designed to detect whether MASs are under FDI attacks. Further, a data-driven resilient switched control scheme with the attack compensation mechanism is designed to achieve the leaderless consensus control objective. Finally, a simulation is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method by comparisons. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper investigates the secure synchronization control problem for a class of cyber-physical systems CPSs with unknown system matrices and intermittent denial-of-service DoS attacks. For the attack free case, an optimal control law consisting of a feedback control and a compensated feedforward control is proposed to achieve the synchronization, and the feedback control gain matrix is learned by iteratively solving an algebraic Riccati equation ARE . For considering the attack cases, it is difficult to perform the stability analysis of the synchronization errors by using the existing Lyapunov function method due to the presence of unknown system matrices. In order to overcome this difficulty, a matrix polynomial replacement method is given and it is shown that, the proposed optimal control law can still guarantee the asymptotical convergence of synchronization errors if two inequality conditions related with the DoS attacks hold. Finally, two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. © 2014 Chinese Association of automation.

Time delay widely exists among industrial process variables, which may lead to invalid description of systems and reduce the model accuracy for soft sensor, process monitoring etc. Therefore, it is crucial to estimate time delay for improving model accuracy. In traditional research, time delay estimation（TDE） algorithm for two variables is fully investigated, but little research pays attention to multivariate. The method of pairwise comparison may not only cause high calculation complexity but also cut off the correlation between multivariate. In this work, a new TDE algorithm is proposed to estimate time delay between multivariate, which extracts dynamic latent variable to represent the process using improved dynamic inner PCA algorithm（DiPCA）. Dynamic latent variable extracts the autocorrelation and cross-correlation between process variables. Take it as a standard and analyze the time delay, so that the influence of multivariate variables could be comprehensively considered. Since there may be non-linear variables, the significant factor（SF） is used for variable selection, and the multivariate variables are divided into multiple linear subgroups, which makes the analysis result more reasonable. The effectiveness is illustrated with two numerical examples and the Tennessee Eastman process.

In order to extract the size and distribution of discrete phases in oil-gas-water three-phase flow, a method that combines an ultrasonic array sensor with plane wave scanning is proposed and studied through numerical simulation. A frequency-domain simulation model is established. The size of the transmitting aperture that can generate plane wave is optimized from four elements to eight elements. Under the action of an ultrasonic plane wave, the curves that could express the relationship between the ultrasound attenuation coefficient（UAC） and the receiving element position of the oil bubble and gas bubble are plotted. We found that these curves have their own inherent variation rules. With transmitting aperture position shift, the UAC curve trend of the gas bubble changes significantly, but the UAC curve trend of the oil bubble has little change. The difference of oil bubble diameter will cause the UAC curve shape of the three-phase flow consistent with the curve shape of oil-water two-phase flow or gas-water two-phase flow. The relationship about the curves of the receiving element position between the variation of UAC could distinguish the spacing between the oil bubble and gas bubble. The transmitting/receiving aperture size for the three-phase flow measurement is selected as four elements/four elements or five elements/five elements, and the excitation-measurement mode is determined. This research lays a foundation for improving the accuracy of image reconstruction in the ultrasound process tomography for multiphase flow.

As a randomized learner model, SCNs are remarkable that the random weights and biases are assigned employing a supervisory mechanism to ensure universal approximation and fast learning. However, the randomness makes SCNs more likely to generate approximate linear correlative nodes that are redundant and low quality, thereby resulting in non-compact network structure. In the light of a fundamental principle in machine learning, that is, a model with fewer parameters holds improved generalization. This paper proposes orthogonal SCN, termed OSCN, to filtrate out the low-quality hidden nodes for network structure reduction by incorporating Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization technology. The universal approximation property of OSCN and an adaptive setting for the key construction parameters have been presented in details. In addition, an incremental updating scheme is developed to dynamically determine the output weights, contributing to improved computational efficiency. Finally, experimental results on two numerical examples and several real-world regression and classification datasets substantiate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach. This paper considers distributed nonconvex optimization with the cost functions being distributed over agents. Noting that information compression is a key tool to reduce the heavy communication load for distributed algorithms as agents iteratively communicate with neighbors, we propose three distributed primal–dual algorithms with compressed communication. The first two algorithms are applicable to a general class of compressors with bounded relative compression error and the third algorithm is suitable for two general classes of compressors with bounded absolute compression error. We show that the proposed distributed algorithms with compressed communication have comparable convergence properties as state-of-the-art algorithms with exact communication. Specifically, we show that they can find first-order stationary points with sublinear convergence rate O(1/T) when each local cost function is smooth, where T is the total number of iterations, and find global optima with linear convergence rate under an additional condition that the global cost function satisfies the Polyak–Lojasiewicz condition. With the increasing complexity of industrial production, data-driven based monitoring methods attract more attention. However, the conventional static process monitoring methods may show poor performance for the time-varying processes since they fail to track the time-varying characteristics. As Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) has been widely used for process monitoring, this paper presents a new incremental GMM model for monitoring time-varying processes. First, an incremental GMM (IGMM) model is proposed, which can recursively update model parameters, adaptively add new Gaussian components and discard the irrelevant component based on the shifting samples online. Then the Bayesian Inference Probability (BIP) is introduced for monitoring statistics and a two-level partition strategy that can separate normal shifting samples from fault samples is proposed, which reduces the possibility of adding fault samples to the model. On the basis of IGMM model, an adaptive monitoring scheme is developed, which can track the time-varying characteristics of processes. Finally, a time-varying numerical example and the Tennessee Eastman process are adopted to validate the feasibility of the proposed monitoring model. Experimental results clearly demonstrate the adaptiveness of the monitoring model to time-varying processes and the ability to avoid false updates.

This paper considers distributed online convex optimization with adversarial constraints. In this setting, a network of agents makes decisions at each round, and then only a portion of the loss function and a coordinate block of the constraint function are privately revealed to each agent. The loss and constraint functions are convex and can vary arbitrarily across rounds. The agents collaborate to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. A novel distributed online algorithm is proposed and it achieves an O(T max{c,1−c}) network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the number of rounds and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds (i.e, there is a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints), the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). Moreover, if the loss functions are strongly convex, then the network regret bound is reduced to O(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(√log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to achieve reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) online convex optimization with adversarial constraints under Slater’s condition. This paper investigates the fully distributed fuzzy secure consensus control problem for stochastic nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs). A polynomial fuzzy model is applied to reconstruct the system dynamics for a class of nonlinear MASs described by the Itoˆ differential equation. The asynchronous denial-of-service (DoS) attack is considered that occurs independently across communication channels between the agents. Then, a novel fuzzy secure control protocol is developed to achieve the consensus task and resist the effect of the DoS attack. Meanwhile, the control protocol is fully distributed without relying on the global information of the Laplace matrix, and its adaptive parameter is membership-function-dependent, which is more flexible. Then, a non-parallel distributed compensation method is used to deal with the mismatch problem of the membership function between the fuzzy control protocol and the fuzzy system. In addition, several mean-square bounded convergence criteria in the form of the sum-of-squares for the secure tracking error are obtained by constructing the piecewise Lyapunov functions. Finally, the feasibility of the theoretical results is verified by the simulation example and the comparative analysis. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
