In this letter, a novel solution method of generalized robust chance constrained real-time dispatch (GRCC-RTD) considering wind power uncertainty is proposed. GRCC models are advantageous in dealing with distributional uncertainty, however, they are difficult to solve because of the complex ambiguity set. By constructing traceable counterparts of the robust chance constraints and using the reformulation linearization technique, the model is equivalently transformed into a deterministic linear programming problem, which can be solved efficiently by offthe-shelf solvers. Numerical results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the approach. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As for a pipe-line system subjected to complex operations, an approach is proposed to synthesize the controller via Petri nets (PNs) such that the plant is run as concurrently as possible and the loads of equipments are balanced. A P-timed and labeled PN is designed to model the whole process of a pipe-line system, where tasks, including transporting material from one tank to another and cleaning tank, are represented by operational places, and level sensors amounted in tanks are represented by labels assigned to transitions. Further, monitor places are designed to resolve the conflict relations among tasks due to the shared valves and pipes. An method is presented to translate an PN controller into a CIF3 (Compositional Interchange Format) model, which can be converted into a PLC program in the CIF3 tool. A beer filtration plant is taken as an example to illustrate the approach, and its simulation experiments are carried out to verify the theoretic results.

This paper seeks the optimization of soot-blowing operations for heat transfer surfaces in coal- fired power plant boiler. A preventive soot blowing strategy based on state of health prediction for heat transfer surface was proposed. The average state of health of heat transfer surface was forecasted as the threshold to draft preventive soot blowing strategy. According to the theory of renewal process, an optimization model with the system prediction interval and the threshold of preventive soot blowing operation as the optimization variables and minimize average energy losses as the target function was established. By using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), the optimal preventive cycle and soot-blowing threshold were obtained, and the long-run average cost rate was the lowest. The model is validated with experiment data of a 300MW coal-fired power plant boiler and the parameters of prediction model are obtained. The results can verify the feasibility of proposed strategy. It can be used as the guide for the optimization of soot blowing in coal-fired power plant to improve the energy conservation level.

In cloud computing, data is duplicated to prevent data loss. One way to achieve data consistency in such a distributed computing systems is to use a blockchain. Based on practical Byzantine fault tolerance (PBFT), a specific type of blockchain, this paper proposes a synchronous Byzantine fault tolerance (SBFT) algorithm that not only maintains data consistency, but also has much higher efficiency than other general blockchain algorithms. We provide experimental results that demonstrate the algorithm's data consistency, efficiency, and reliability.

Chimera states in spatiotemporal dynamical systems have been investigated in physical, chemical, and biological systems, and have been shown to be robust against random perturbations. How do chimera states achieve their robustness? We uncover a self-adaptation behavior by which, upon a spatially localized perturbation, the coherent component of the chimera state spontaneously drifts to an optimal location as far away from the perturbation as possible, exposing only its incoherent component to the perturbation to minimize the disturbance. A systematic numerical analysis of the evolution of the spatiotemporal pattern of the chimera state towards the optimal stable state reveals an exponential relaxation process independent of the spatial location of the perturbation, implying that its effects can be modeled as restoring and damping forces in a mechanical system and enabling the articulation of a phenomenological model. Not only is the model able to reproduce the numerical results, it can also predict the trajectory of drifting. Our finding is striking as it reveals that, inherently, chimera states possess a kind of “intelligence” in achieving robustness through self-adaptation. The behavior can be exploited for the controlled generation of chimera states with their coherent component placed in any desired spatial region of the system.

In this paper, we study the semi-global output containment control problem of a multi-agent system in the presence of actuator saturation over a directed network. The leader and follower agents are of different dynamics, and the follower agents are affected by disturbances generated by the leader agents through directed paths in the communication topology. The control objective of the output containment control is to drive the output trajectories of the follower agents to converge to the convex hull spanned by the outputs of the leader agents in the presence of disturbances. Low gain feedback containment protocols are constructed based on the output regulation approach and distributed observers. It is shown that semi-global output containment control can be achieved by the proposed protocols, if each follower agent is connected to at least one leader agent through a directed path in the communication topology. Simulation results verify the theoretical conclusions.

This paper designs a torque control strategy for the wind turbine generator system(WTGS), which can benefit the conventional pitch control effect coordinately. Due to the characteristic that, the inertia time constant of the torque control loop is quite smaller compared with the pitch control one, further improvement on the pitch control effect can be guaranteed through improving the torque control, which can decrease the pitch operations and reduce fatigue loads. Motivated by this point,through analysing the MIMO linearized WTGS model, the torque control strategy is proposed in forms of state feedback and pole placement in the corresponding sub-state-space model, which also guarantees the stability of the whole system. Furthermore, a PID torque controller is established in order to facilitate this strategy in the practical WTGS control process. Finally, simulation results for a 5 MW wind turbine show the effectiveness of the proposed strategy with two different conventional pitch controllers under the FAST simulator.

With the increase of wind power capacity incorporated into the grid, the permeability of wind power increases continuously, which leads to the reduction of the equivalent inertia of the system. Rotor speed recovery will cause the secondary frequency dips when DFIG uses rotor inertial control to participate in system frequency modulation. In order to optimize the secondary frequency dips, this paper uses PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) to optimize the Parameters of Variable Power Functions on the basis of the previously proposed variable power curve strategy. This article simulates this strategy through setting up a system by Simulink. Simulate the results of optimization, compared with the traditional recovery strategy, validity of the proposed strategy is demonstrated through simulation and analysis. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
