The experiences of urban visitors are frequently captured and shared on various websites and social platforms through reviews and ratings. These "digital footprints" help us understand what visitors think about a certain place. High visitor traffic may stem from the urban layout and configuration, such as the importance of a street, the building characteristic, or the location of the place within an urban settlement. Hence, these digital footprints are shaped by a complex interplay of spatial, emotional, self-organizational, and socio-behavioural factors. This presents us with compelling research questions: To what extent does urban configuration influence these digital footprints? And how exactly does this dynamic play out? This research examines the intricate relationship between urban spatial characteristics and digital footprints in the realm of urban tourism. Our approach taps into Space Syntax metrics and associates them with places, extracted as points of interest from Google Maps API. This framework helps ascertain what is the linkage between urban configuration and visitors’ digital activities, to reveal another layer of social behaviour within the cities. Our research centred on the historic city of Sassi di Matera, Italy, distinguished by its cave dwellings and intricate pathways. Initial findings from our research present significant correlations between Space Syntax metrics and visitors’ reviewing activities at specific places. By correlating the configurational patterns with reviews and ratings, we observed that these places are influenced by surrounding space, and that this situation varies depending on the type of place. © 14th International Space Syntax Symposium, SSS 2024.

With the rapid development of information retrieval technology and daily increasing information in the Internet, common users can retrieve many text-based database and get part of the information through the search engines such as Google, and Baidu. However, there is a great amount of data contained in the background relational database of web pages. So there are many researches focusing on the search in these relational database with keywords, compared with these researches, our algorithms are mainly based on bags using the greedy algorithms and supporting the phrase recognition by utilizing multiple dictionaries. We make a comparison between our algorithm and the existing ones. The experiment results shows that our algorithm owns not only the feature of effectiveness but also the feature of efficiency.

Electronic records management (ERM) is fundamental to good governance, business efficiency and effectiveness of e-government in networking and digital society. However, government authorities in China has faced many challenges in managing electronic records. A study of ERM in e-government strategy in other countries would be significant to support development of ERM in Chinese e-government strategy. As little is known from literature on the status of electronic records management in e-government strategy, this paper selects U.S, New Zealand and UK for case study by means of collecting and analyzing publications, laws, regulations and policies relevant to both electronic records management and e-government strategy. The author first analyzes status of ERM in e-government strategy and then discusses models and driving forces of their existences. The result of the study revealed that electronic records are managed as national assets, resources and trusted information in the e-government strategy. Driven by core business of e-government in different country, there are different approaches to ERM in e-government strategy. The implications of the study is that, to position ERM in e-government strategy, it is significant to provide a strategic approach to ERM for shared agenda by both government authorities and records management professionals. The findings intended to be of use to both the effective e-government strategy and good ERM for dynamic, interactive and proactive citizen-centered services across domains and time dimensions.

Mobile crowd sensing has the potential to acquire massive data from places and address large-scale societal problems. However, most currently existing crowd sensing systems suffer from insufficient participants. Therefore, incentive design for crowd sensing is essential and urgent. In this paper, different from the auction-based and server-dominant incentives, we design a personalized incentive, PIE, with partiality for neither the server nor the participants with budget constraint. The total payment for all the participants accords to their collective participation level, and the individual reward for each participant depends on individual contribution. We measure the individual contribution and participation level based on Voronoi diagram and Shannon entropy. Both offline and online incentives are proposed with budget constraint. Experimental study shows that our incentives are participation-aware and contribution-dependent, which encourages participants' active join, balanced distribution and flexible reward.

As the sharable and reusable domain knowledge, domain ontology increasingly serves as a foundation for semantic Web. Personalized management of domain ontologies is to provide personalized views of domain ontologies to users during run time according to user preferences. It helps that users can focus on their interested parts, instead of the whole. It increases the efficiency of ontology-based application. This paper proposes a framework for personalized management of domain ontologies. In this framework, a user model firstly is introduced to describe user preferences. Secondly, domain ontologies are decomposed into moderate-scale modules with high cohesion and low coupling. During run time, modules that a user is interested in are selected out based on the user's preferences. Finally, the selected modules are combined to construct personalized views of domain ontologies for the user.

Vehicle re-identification (reID) aims at identifying vehicles across different non-overlapping cameras views. The existing methods heavily relied on well-labeled datasets for ideal performance, which inevitably causes fateful drop due to the severe domain bias between the training domain and the real-world scenes;worse still, these approaches required full annotations, which is labor-consuming. To tackle these challenges, we propose a novel progressive adaptation learning method for vehicle reID, named PAL, which infers from the abundant data without annotations. For PAL, a data adaptation module is employed for source domain, which generates the images with similar data distribution to unlabeled target domain as "pseudo target samples". These pseudo samples are combined with the unlabeled samples that are selected by a dynamic sampling strategy to make training faster. We further proposed a weighted label smoothing (WLS) loss, which considers the similarity between samples with different clusters to balance the confidence of pseudo labels. Comprehensive experimental results validate the advantages of PAL on both VehicleID and VeRi-776 dataset. © 2020 Inst. Sci. inf., Univ. Defence in Belgrade. All rights reserved.

Hadoop is now the de facto standard for storing and processing big data, not only for unstructured data but also for some structured data. As a result, providing SQL analysis functionality to the big data resided in HDFS becomes more and more important. Hive is a pioneer system that support SQL-like analysis to the data in HDFS. However, the performance of Hive is not satisfactory for many applications. This leads to the quick emergence of dozens of SQL-on-Hadoop systems that try to support interactive SQL query processing to the data stored in HDFS. This paper firstly gives a brief technical review on recent efforts of SQLon- Hadoop systems. Then we test and compare the performance of five representative SQL-on-Hadoop systems, based on some queries selected or derived from the TPC-DS benchmark. According to the results, we show that such systems can benefit more from the applications of many parallel query processing techniques that have been widely studied in the traditional MPP analytical databases. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Wireless sensor network is an important part of the Internet of Things. Preservation of privacy and integrity in wireless sensor networks is extremely urgent and challenging. This paper proposes an efficient mechanism, called PTK, for define and solve the practical and challenging problem of privacy-preserving and verifiable Top-k query processing in two-tier sensor network. PTK prevents adversaries from gaining sensitive information of both queries issued by users and data collected by sensor nodes while allows the ink to verify whether the results are valid. It offers confidentiality of queries and data by constructing a special code, and also achieves high defense capability against the background analysis attack through the implementation of obfuscation coding mechanism. Moreover, PTK provides integrity verification by the correlation among data. Finally, the experimental results show the high performance of proposed schemes in terms of privacy preservation and query efficiency.

With the wide use of web services over the world, an effective and efficient search engine becomes necessary. In this paper, we analyzed the limitation of search method using traditional UDDI, and make it in LR-sryle and take advantage of approximate string matching. Motivated by the feature of WSDL files which define the interfaces of web services, we make operations defined in WSDL files which compose web services as the base units for searching and organize all information of operations and corresponding components as documents, which will facilitate IRStyle keyword searching. In order to improve the precision of searching, we enable users to specify weights in their queries. By defining our ranking function, we sort all the results and present top n ones to users. We also build inverted indexes on operations and corresponding documents to improve query efficiency. In addition, we carry out simple semantic analysis on WSDL files. to acquire better accuracy. At last, not only have we tested the efficiency of query after introducing approximate string matching, but also have we verified the effectiveness of the query results.

Wireless sensor network is an important part of the Internet of Things. Preservation of privacy and integrity in wireless sensor networks is extremely urgent and challenging. To address this problem, we propose PPKN, an efficient and privacy-preserving k-NN query protocol in two-tiered wireless sensor networks. Our proposal prevents adversaries from gaining sensitive information of both queries issued by users and data collected by sensor nodes while allows the sink to verify whether results are valid. It offers confidentiality of queries and data by constructing a special code, provides integrity verification by the correlation among data. Moreover, by the implementation of KNQ query framework, PPKN also achieves high efficient in query response and energy consumption. Finally, the theoretical analysis and experiment results show the high performance of PPKN in terms of privacy preservation and query efficiency.
