In a world dominated by digital technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) has occupied our daily lives beyond our knowledge. It has established an ecosystem that connects multiple systems to provide intelligent performance in each task of our lifestyles and it has made everything and everyone connected to the internet. From wearables to smart cities and smart industries, our hobbies, our movements are facilitated by this technology that greatly improves our quality of life and increases our comfort. Based on low-cost sensors, the IoT provides the possibility to render the several devices and objects around us addressable, identifiable, and locatable. Though the IoT brought infinite benefits, it creates several challenges, especially in security and privacy. These security challenges are complicated due to the variety of IoT protocols that are heterogeneous, serve various requirements, and are utilized in diverse application domains. However, because IoT is commonly deployed in hostile or remote environments and operate without monitoring, preventing attacks and protecting the privacy of sensitive collected data is critical for many IoT applications. This paper represents a detailed study of the general concepts on the security of IoT networks by application domains by describing their vulnerabilities, their security needs. Few-shot learning based methods can address the reliance on large-scale labeled samples in current breast tumor segmentation. However, previous methods typically rely on a few support samples to extract abstract, coarse-grained semantic prototypes, without considering the interaction between support and query data. In this study, we aim to provide each query image with relevant and information-rich support information. By integrating the difficult point selection module and the multi-scale cyclical prototype refinement module, we progressively refine coarse-grained support prototypes into more informative, fine-grained class prototypes, thereby better matching the highly variable breast ultrasound query data. Experiments on two datasets demonstrate that our proposed multi-scale cyclical similarity prototype refinement network (CSPRNet) achieves remarkable improvements compared to previous state-of-the-art methods. Specifically, using ResNet50 as the backbone, we achieve 57.93%/57.92% and 57.58%/59.24% mIoU for 1-shot and 5-shot segmentation, respectively, on public and private datasets, outperforming the suboptimal method by 8.18%/2.55% and 2.77%/4.48%. © 2024 IEEE.

Gland instance segmentation is an essential but challenging task in the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma. The existing models usually achieve gland instance segmentation through multi-task learning and boundary loss constraint. However, how to deal with the problems of gland adhesion and inaccurate boundary in segmenting the complex samples remains a challenge. In this work, we propose a novel geometric feature named displacement field (DF), which can represent the geometric information such as shape, size, and orientation of the glands. Based on the explicit constraint of DF, a displacement-field assisted graph energy transmitter (DFGET) framework is proposed for solving the above problems. Using such graph framework, the gland semantic segmentation map and the displacement field of the graph nodes are estimated with two graph network branches. With the constraint of DF, a graph cluster module is presented to improve the intra-class feature consistency and inter-class feature discrepancy, as well as to separate the adherent glands. Extensive comparison and ablation experiments on the GlaS dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the displacement field and the superiority of DFGET. Compared to the best comparative model, DFGET increases the object-Dice and object-F1 score by 2.27% and 3.11% respectively, while decreases the object-HD by 15.58, achieving state-of-the-art performance, which indicates that DFGET can serve as an auxiliary tool for the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma. © 2024 IEEE.

The motion mode of near-space targets is complex due to their high threat level. The target imaging faces low SNR and susceptibility to background noise. The existing detection and classification algorithms struggle to meet the demands of performance and speed on such targets. To address these issues, a YOLOv5-based target detection algorithm utilizes CARAFE upsampling and the small detection head to extract internal features and edge information of dim target. The algorithm adeptly captures dim target features, enhancing real-time performance and detection accuracy while overcoming subtle feature granularity and extraction difficulties. Aiming at the problem that there is no existing trajectory classification algorithm in the near-space field, we propose an infrared dim target trajectory classification algorithm. The improved attention module is used to enhance the extraction of motion features, and the target category is accurately identified by the prediction module, improving the capacity to extract dependencies between trajectory fragments. We execute comparative experiments on common infrared dim target dataset, near-space infrared dim target dataset and real dataset to confirm the viability of our methods. The outcomes indicate that our proposed method can be applied to the above three types of dim targets and significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.

Efficient and stable Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been successfully produced using a dual-layer modified (DLM) perovskite thin film. This method simultaneously modifies both the bottom (SnO2/perovskite) and top (perovskite/SpiroOMeTAD) interfaces of the perovskite. The crystallinity of the perovskite film is enhanced after the DLM treatment. Additionally, thin barrier layers are formed on both its bottom and top surfaces, which reduce surface defect density and non-radiative recombination of carriers. The bottom and top modifier layers prevent direct contact between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer, forming a high-energy barrier that promotes carrier transmission in PSCs. Consequently, the methylammonium acetate (MAAc)-PSC achieves an efficiency of 21.96%. © 2024 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Video skimming involves generating a concise representation that captures all its significant information. However, conventional skimming techniques often fail to capture different shots in a video due to their inability to detect scene modifications and incorporate the hierarchical structure of video content. This work proposes an unsupervised hierarchical method for video skimming, called Hierarchical Time-aware Skimming - HieTaSkim, in which video content is modeled as a graph, and an adaptive strategy is employed to produce hierarchical graph cuts. Those cuts are used to identify the most relevant video segments or keyshots, allowing the extraction of frames' sequences that convey the video's central message and resulting in a more effective and accurate video summary. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms other state-of-the-art unsupervised methods for video skimming, achieving in the SumMe dataset an F-score of 39.9 which represents an improvement of 10% at least.

Superpixel segmentation consists of partitioning images into regions composed of similar and connected pixels. Its methods have been widely used in many computer vision applications since it allows for reducing the workload, removing redundant information, and preserving regions with meaningful features. Due to the rapid progress in this area, the literature fails to catch up on more recent works among the compared ones and to categorize the methods according to all existing strategies. We revisit the recent and popular literature according to our taxonomy and evaluate 20 strategies based on nine criteria: connectivity, compactness, delineation, control over the number of superpixels, color homogeneity, robustness, running time, stability, and visual quality. Thus, this document presents a proposal for a tutorial to be presented at SIBGRAPI 2023.
