C-mode imaging is one of the ultrasound imaging modalities. Compared with other modalities, e.g. A-mode, B-mode, M-mode, and Doppler, C-mode is mainly developed and used in industry testing. The potential of C-mode imaging for medical application has not been fully explored. In this paper, we design one 2-d plane array transducer through using the point spread function (PSF), and apply the 2d array transducer for C-mode imaging. The simulation results show that the generated C-mode images can display the anatomic structure and the pathological changes on the biological tissue. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Parameters selection of support vector machine is the key issue that impacts its accurate performance.A method for support vector regression machine with standard particle swarm optimization (SPSO) algorithm is proposed in this ***, in order to improve the performance of the SPSO algorithm, the concept of the particles’ average distance and fitness variance is proposed to make the efficiency of algorithm ***, the improve algorithm was also applied in this *** two different models using SPSO and IPSO respectively were used to forecast the density of the acid-lead battery *** experimental results indicate that both SPSO and IPSO have high prediction accuracy and *** time of the parametric searching by IPSO is obviously decreased to that of *** mean squared error (MSE) of the prediction model using SPSO is about 2.02056×10-4, Meanwhile, the MSE of the model using IPSO is only about 1.9324×***, the IPSO algorithm has more superior performance on convergence speed and global optimization.

Target detecting algorithm in infrared image is drawing extensive attention both at home and abroad, expecially when the infrared images own complex backgrounds and low *** to make sure of the accuracy of infrared dim-small target detecting is the key point during the processing *** this paper, a novel region of interest detecting algorithm is proposed for aerial small dim infrared target with clutter *** from traditional region of interest extraction method, we extract region of interest based on the grayscale merging algorithm and connected components analysising ***, the infrared image is reconstructed by separating the grayscale into several interval sections, then binarization is used to segment the processed image according to estimate the threshold value using minimum error probability;finally, analysis and select the connected components, to sift the accurate connected domain which contain the *** validity of the proposed approach is demonstrated by experiment of infrared target region extraction.

In this paper, we present an online ascent phase trajectory reconstruction algorithm using Gauss Pseudospectral *** Pseudospectral Method (GPM) was used to transform the ascent phase trajectory optimization problem into Nonlinear Program Problem (NLP), we solve the problem using a optimization software named GPOPS in *** this method we can calculate the optimal trajectory control volume and feedback to update the guidance commands *** analysis of the optimized results has been done to prove its *** last, we compare the trajectory recon- struction algorithm to a law without reconstruction algorithm via simulation with aerodynamic and thrust *** simulation results indicate that the method proposed above offers improved performance and has ability for real-time calculating.

Pneumatic Muscle (PM) has the advantages of cheapness, light weight, compliance, safe and high power/weight. It is suitable for rehabilitation engineering. To minimize the number of PM for driving a single joint of rehabilitation, a new PM-TS actuator comprising a PM and a Torsion Spring (TS) is proposed. Unlike the traditional agonist/antagonist PM actuator, the PM is arranged in appropriate place as agonist and the torsion spring provides opposing torque as antagonist in the proposed actuator. The dynamic model of a 1-DOF (Degree of Freedom) rehabilitation robotic arm is derived considering the PM-TS actuator. To realize high accurate trajectory tracking control of the robotic arm, an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm based Auto-Disturbance Rejection control (ADRC) is proposed, where ABC is employed to optimize the control parameters of ADRC. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of PM-TS actuator, and verify that the ABC based ADRC has satisfactory performance. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

Character information is hard to detect in billet scene images by CCD camera. In this paper, we present a method for detection of billet characters from measurements of recursive segmented image. This recursive segmented method can be used in a wide variety of billet scenes. According to high temperature and complex scene in the rolling line, we use an effective clustering and projection characteristics to determine the terminal condition of recursive segmentation. Then we can label character candidate regions in turn by this effective characteristics, and select the regions we want to achieve. The experiments show that this method makes full use of the characteristics of region and clustering. It can improve the quality of detection, and the detection result meets the need of practical application. © 2012 IEEE.

Micromanipulation robot is a system which often does some precise manipulations in micro scale space, such as centimeter or millimeter level space, in which micro visual servo system plays a very important role. In visual servo system, it's difficult to give consideration to two or more things such as location accuracy and real-time property at the same time. In this paper, we introduced a novel approach which suited our system very well and could meet both of the above requirements. It was called ORB, a novel feature extracting method which outperformed many current excellent methods such as SIFT and SURF. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

A Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) based voice recognition approach and its template training problem are discussed in this paper. In order to achieve better recognition accuracies, we proposed two kinds of incremental feedback learning methods for DTW-based voice recognition, including the variable gain coefficient (VGC) based method and the time warping average (TWA) based method. Compared with the non-feedback recognition system, the proposed methods are easy to implement and more robust to noise. A number of comparison experiments are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. It is also shown that the VGC-based method, whose implementation is easy, achieves significantly better performance than conventional batch template training method without feedback learning. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

With the development of society and progress of technology, people are concerned with their health more and more. Currently there are increasing number of handicapped people, which brings tremendous burden to the society and their families. For handicapped people, bathing is a big challenge because of disabilities and some dangers such as falling down or drowning which will cause severe consequence if not be dealt with in time. To alleviate the burden of society and their families as well as guarantee their safety during bathing, we propose an integrated wearable bath safety monitoring system. This system can detect both fall and drowning emergencies during bathing in real-time and alarm to remote monitoring center for help. The effectiveness of the propose safety monitoring system is confirmed by experiments. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.

The overview presents the development and application of Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM). HTM is a new machine learning method which was proposed by Jeff Hawkins in 2005. It is a biologically inspired cognitive method based on the principle of how human brain works. The method invites hierarchical structure and proposes a memory-prediction framework, thus making it able to predict what will happen in the near future. This overview mainly introduces the developing process of HTM, as well as its principle, characteristics, advantages and applications in vision, image processing and robots movement, some potential applications by using HTM, such as thinking process, are also put forward. © 2012 Huazhong Univ of Sci & Tec.
