3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird’s-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations;2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features;3) Camera-LiDAR fusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models. Code available at https: //***/zzj403/BEV_Robust. Aberrant High-Order Dependencies in Schizophrenia Resting-State Functional MRI Networks

The human brain has a complex, intricate functional architecture. While many studies primarily emphasize pairwise interactions, delving into high-order associations is crucial for a comprehensive understanding of how functional brain networks intricately interact beyond simple pairwise connections. Analyzing high-order statistics allows us to explore the nuanced and complex relationships across the brain, unraveling the heterogeneity and uncovering patterns of multilevel overlap on the psychosis continuum. Here, we employed high-order independent component analysis (ICA) plus multivariate information-theoretical metrics (O-information and S-information) to estimate high-order interaction to examine schizophrenia using resting-state fMRI. The results show that multiple brain regions networks may be altered in schizophrenia, such as temporal, subcortical, and higher-cognitive brain regions, and meanwhile, it also shows that revealed synergy gives more information than redundancy in diagnosing schizophrenia. All in all, we showed that high-order dependencies were altered in schizophrenia. Identification of these aberrant patterns will give us a new window to diagnose schizophrenia. © 2023, CC BY.

The combination of frequency diverse array (FDA) with range-angle-time dependent beampattern and waveform diversity in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar, namely, FDA-MIMO radar, offers additional degrees-of-freedom to enhance the overall system performance. The existing parameter estimation algorithms for FDA-MIMO radar are difficult to achieve effective target estimation when there is amplitude-phase error in the array antenna. In this paper, the proposed method can achieve the calibration and estimation for FDA-MIMO radar with random amplitude and phase errors. First, the signal model for FDA-MIMO radar signal model with random amplitude and phase errors is established. Second, the angle and range estimation is obtained by the spectral peak search method with reduced dimension. Then, the amplitude and phase error of each array element are estimated by the singular value decomposition and eigenvalue decomposition. Finally, the multiple simulation experiments show that in the presence of amplitude and phase errors, the existing algorithms have completely failed, but the proposed algorithm still has the ability to estimate the target with high precision.

Early hierarchical computational visual models as well as recent deep neural networks have been inspired by the functioning of the primate visual cortex system. Although much effort has been made to dissect neural networks to visualize the features they learn at the individual units, the scope of the visualizations has been limited to a categorization of the features in terms of their semantic level. Considering the ability humans have to select high semantic level regions of a scene, the question whether neural networks can match this ability, and if similarity with humans attention is correlated with neural networks performance naturally arise. To address this question we propose a pipeline to select and compare sets of feature points that maximally activate individual networks units to human fixations. We extract features from a variety of neural networks, from early hierarchical models such as HMAX up to recent deep convolutional neural netwoks such as Densnet, to compare them to human fixations. Experiments over the ETD database show that human fixations correlate with CNNs features from deep layers significantly better than with random sets of points, while they do not with features extracted from the first layers of CNNs, nor with the HMAX features, which seem to have low semantic level compared with the features that respond to the automatically learned filters of CNNs. It also turns out that there is a correlation between CNN's human similarity and classification performance.

Photovoltaic (PV) system fault diagnosis is crucial because it helps PV system operators reduce energy and income losses. It also decreases the risk of fire and electric shock from PV system failures. Thus, the implementation of fault diagnosis tool is required. The most well-known techniques are machine learning models. Although these techniques provided well in terms of diagnosis and classification accuracy, they rely on manual feature extraction, which is time consuming, expensive, and requires diagnostic skill. Manual feature extraction is a problem that has to be addressed. This paper therefore presents a PV system fault diagnosis techniques that can automatically extract features from raw data in order to classify PV system faults. The implemented methods include long short-term memory (LSTM) bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks, which are deep learning based algorithms. Finally, the presented fault diagnosis approaches showed a good diagnosis performances when applied to an emulated GCPV system. © 2022 IEEE.

Recent advancements in CNNs for medical image segmentation have focused on the combination of CNN and Transformer architectures to capture both local and global features. However, challenges remain, such as effectively utilizing fused features at the encoder-decoder bottleneck and addressing blurred object edges in datasets. To tackle these issues, we introduce a multi-scale channel adaptive sensing module, enhancing the model's representational and perceptual capabilities by integrating multi-scale and channel-specific information. Additionally, we propose a cross-perception module and multi-scale segmentation head to improve global coordination and multi-scale information gathering. Experiments on the ACDC and Synapse datasets demonstrate our model's superiority.

Emotion Recognition in Conversation (ERC) has attracted widespread attention in the natural language processing field due to its enormous potential for practical applications. Existing ERC methods face challenges in achieving generalization to diverse scenarios due to insufficient modeling of context, ambiguous capture of dialogue relationships and overfitting in speaker modeling. In this work, we present a Hybrid Continuous Attributive Network (HCAN) to address these issues in the perspective of emotional continuation and emotional attribution. Specifically, HCAN adopts a hybrid recurrent and attention-based module to model global emotion continuity. Then a novel Emotional Attribution Encoding (EAE) is proposed to model intra- and inter-emotional attribution for each utterance. Moreover, aiming to enhance the robustness of the model in speaker modeling and improve its performance in different scenarios, A comprehensive loss function emotional cognitive loss $\mathcal{L}_{EC}$ is proposed to alleviate emotional drift and overcome the overfitting of the model to speaker modeling. Our model achieves state-of-the-art performance on three datasets, demonstrating the superiority of our work. Another extensive comparative experiments and ablation studies on three benchmarks are conducted to provided evidence to support the efficacy of each module. Further exploration of generalization ability experiments shows the plug-and-play nature of the EAE module in our method.

In the past decade, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown prominence for semantic segmentation. Although CNN models have very impressive performance, the ability to capture global representation is still insufficient, which results in suboptimal results. Recently, Transformer achieved huge success in NLP tasks, demonstrating its advantages in modeling long-range dependency. Recently, Transformer has also attracted tremendous attention from computer vision researchers who reformulate the image processing tasks as a sequence-to-sequence prediction but resulted in deteriorating local feature details. In this work, we propose a lightweight real-time semantic segmentation network called LETNet. LETNet combines a U-shaped CNN with Transformer effectively in a capsule embedding style to compensate for respective deficiencies. Meanwhile, the elaborately designed Lightweight Dilated Bottleneck (LDB) module and Feature Enhancement (FE) module cultivate a positive impact on training from scratch simultaneously. Extensive experiments performed on challenging datasets demonstrate that LETNet achieves superior performances in accuracy and efficiency balance. Specifically, It only contains 0.95M parameters and 13.6G FLOPs but yields 72.8% mIoU at 120 FPS on the Cityscapes test set and 70.5% mIoU at 250 FPS on the CamVid test dataset using a single RTX 3090 GPU. Heterogeneity is a fundamental and challenging issue in federated learning, especially for the graph data due to the complex relationships among the graph nodes. To deal with the heterogeneity, lots of existing methods perform the weighted federation based on their calculated similarities between pairwise clients (i.e., subgraphs). However, their inter-subgraph similarities estimated with the outputs of local models are less reliable, because the final outputs of local models may not comprehensively represent the real distribution of subgraph data. In addition, they ignore the critical intra-heterogeneity which usually exists within each subgraph itself. To address these issues, we propose a novel Federated learning method by integrally modeling the Inter-Intra Heterogeneity (FedIIH). For the inter-subgraph relationship, we propose a novel hierarchical variational model to infer the whole distribution of subgraph data in a multi-level form, so that we can accurately characterize the inter-subgraph similarities with the global perspective. For the intra-heterogeneity, we disentangle the subgraph into multiple latent factors and partition the model parameters into multiple parts, where each part corresponds to a single latent factor. Our FedIIH not only properly computes the distribution similarities between subgraphs, but also learns disentangled representations that are robust to irrelevant factors within subgraphs, so that it successfully considers the inter- and intra- heterogeneity simultaneously. Extensive experiments on six homophilic and five heterophilic graph datasets in both non-overlapping and overlapping settings demonstrate the effectiveness of our method when compared with nine state-of-the-art methods. Specifically, FedIIH averagely outperforms the second-best method by a large margin of 5.79% on all heterophilic datasets. A TDOA/AOA Hybrid Positioning Based on Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm for Mobile Position Estimation

To address the difficulty in calculating the nonlinear equation of time difference of arrival (TDOA) positioning, as well as the problem of measurement error in the hybrid time difference of arrival/angle of arrival (TDOA/AOA) positioning algorithm, an improved sparrow search algorithm is proposed to optimize positioning, and the optimization mechanism is retained on the basis of improving the performance of the original algorithm. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to calculate the objective function, and then, the estimated function of the mobile station is used as the fitness function to generate the initial population of sparrows. Then, using particle swarm optimization, optimize the sparrow search algorithm and obtain the population's optimal solution in order to obtain the optimal position. The simulation results show that, when compared to the existing algorithm, increasing the number of base stations increases the average accuracy of the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) positioning method by 18.54% and 4.5%, respectively, and, when compared to the proposed particle swarm optimization (PSO) positioning method, by 13.79% and 11.6% as the radius increases. The SSA hybrid positioning algorithm performs better in terms of positioning accuracy, convergence speed, and robustness. © 2023 Zhongyi Hu et al.
