This work proposes a new fault diagnosis approach for a wind energy conversion (WEC) system. The proposed technique merges the benefits of feature extraction based on Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) and Multi-Class Random Forest (MCRF)-based fault classification where instances are classified into one or more classes. In the developed GPR-MCRF approach, the nonlinear statistical features including the mean vector M GPR and the variance matrix C GPR are computed using the GPR model with aim of extracting the most relevant features from the WEC system. Then, these features are introduced to the RF classifier for classification and diagnosis purposes. Therefore, the application of the GPR-MCRF technique for WEC systems aims to enhance the use of the classical raw data-based MCRF and diagnosis accuracy. Three kinds of faults (wear-out, open-circuit, and short-circuit faults) are considered in this work. Different case studies are investigated in order to illustrate the effectiveness and robustness of the developed technique compared to the state-of-the-art methods. The obtained results show that the the developed GPR-MCRF technique is an effective feature extraction and fault diagnosis technique for WEC systems.

A cross-subject domain generalization (DG) approach with multiadversarial strategies (DGMA) is introduced to reduce brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) systems' dependency on high-quality, subject-specific electroencephalographic (EEG) data, making it adaptable to unseen domains. DGMA leverages annotated training data from other subjects and consists of three modules: 1) prefeature extraction (PFE), enhancing EEG signal separability through preprocessing, data augmentation, and tangent space mapping;2) distribution feature updater (DFU), aligning intersubject feature distributions with marginal maximum mean discrepancy (MMD);and 3) multiadversarial training (MAT), initially using gradient reversal layer (GRL) to amplify domain differences and classification loss, allowing the model to learn diverse domain-specific features before minimizing these differences to balance domain transferability and discriminability. DGMA is capable of better capturing domain-specific features while achieving stronger generalization compared with traditional methods focused solely on minimizing domain differences. Validated on four motor imagery datasets, DGMA achieved state-of-the-art accuracies of 76.1% on BCI Competition IV 2a and 72.4% on the 002-2014 dataset. Additional tests on a private fatigue dataset and the SEED dataset yielded accuracies of 99.5% and 86.6%, respectively. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Instance segmentation requires both pixel-level classification accuracy and high-level semantic features at the target instance level, which is very challenging, and the cascade structure can effectively improve both of these problems. To make full use of the relationship between detection and segmentation, this paper proposes a joint multi-tasking cascade structure, which is not simply to cascade the two tasks of detection and segmentation, but to unitedly put them into multi-stage processing, and especially to integrate the information at different stages of the mask branch. The entire structure can effectively utilize the superior characteristics of each stage in the matter of detection and segmentation, thus improving the quality of mask prediction. The feature fusion process is introduced in the full convolution networks (FCN) branch, and the high-level and low-level features are effectively fused to enhance the contextual information of the picture semantic features. The low-rank tensor representation has shown enormous potential and advantages in diverse applications. However, (1) due to the inherent limitations of the low-rank tensor model, the tensor nuclear norm is utilized yet as a biased estimate of the tensor rank, which limits the image recovery performance. (2) most current low-rank approximation-based methods focus on the preservation of global information, while ignoring the local details preservation such as the spatial piece-wise smoothness and sharp edges. To overcome he above obstacles, we propose a novel asymmetry three-dimensional total variation and framelet regularized nonconvex low-rank tensor completion (ATV-FNTC) model, which integrates the nonconvex penalty function and asymmetric three-dimensional total variation into one unified model. Specifically, ATV-FNTC introduces one nonconvex penalty function as a tighter regularizer to approximate the tensor rank. Different from existing methods, the asymmetric three-dimensional total variation regularization is developed to achieve more accurate recovery of detailed information and flexibly control the smoothing strength of different dimensions of tensor data. Furthermore, we design an iterative algorithm to solve the nonconvex ATV-FNTC model by the alternating direction methods of multipliers. Experimental results reveal the superiority of the proposed method compared with several state-of-the-art methods when handling different completion tasks. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper presents an adaptive multiple targets detection framework for frequency diverse array multiple-input multiple-output radar embedded in Gaussian clutter with an unknown covariance matrix. To this end, we define the one-range-cell multiple targets model as a summation expression and then design four detectors, i.e., the generalized likelihood ratio test, the two-step GLRT, Rao, and Wald tests for the above newly built problem. Closed-form expressions for the probability of false alarm and the probability of detection are provided to assess the aforementioned detectors. The numerical examples show that the proposed architectures can ensure better detection performance than the considered competitors. Finally, notice that each proposed detector has a specific behavior in terms of robustness to low volumes of data. Thus, the choice of a specific solution is dictated by the operating requirements of the radar system. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Choosing the values of hyper-parameters in sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) can significantly impact performance. However, the hyper-parameters are normally tuned manually, which is often a difficult task. Most recently, effective automatic hyper-parameter tuning was achieved by using an empirical auto-tuner. In this work, we address the issue of hyper-parameter auto-tuning using neural network (NN)-based learning. Inspired by the empirical auto-tuner, we design and learn a NN-based auto-tuner, and show that considerable improvement in convergence rate and recovery performance can be achieved. Evolutionary attraction–repulsion algorithm embedded with LLM for UAV task allocation

Labor division provides an adaptive and scalable technique for unmanned systems. However, its designing process usually relies heavily on the manually crafted paradigms, leading to inefficiencies and insufficient performance. To overcome these challenges, this paper introduce an evolutionary approach to labor division algorithm design. Drawing inspiration from the regulatory behaviors observed in natural lion populations, we propose a bipolar feedback-guided attraction–repulsion mechanism. A formal model is developed to encapsulate this mechanism, and we provide an in-depth analysis of the algorithm's evolution through the framework of systems science. In addition, we leverage prompt engineering techniques to integrate a large language model (LLM) with our proposed mechanism, facilitating a bidirectional enhancement between the two. This integration culminates in the development of the ARE-LLM framework, a robust and adaptive solution for designing labor division algorithms. To demonstrate the practical applicability of our approach, we apply the ARE-LLM framework to the UAV-based task allocation problem for enemy air defense suppression. The experimental results indicate that our method outperforms several advanced approaches. In a scenario involving 50 UAVs tasked with completing 300 assignments, the total distance traveled is only 9 % of that required by the ALPDA algorithm, while the processing time is reduced to 8 % of that used by ALPDA. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

As a popular evolutionary algorithm, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm has been successfully applied into the threshold-based image segmentation problem. Based on our analysis, we find that the Otsu segmentation function is separable which means each variable is independent. Due to its one-dimensional search strategy and relative power global but poorer local search abilities, ABC could find an acceptable but not precise segmentation results. For making more precise search and further enhancing the achievements on image segmentation, we propose an Otsu segmentation method based on a new ABC algorithm with an improved scout bee strategy. Different from the traditional scout bee strategy, we use a local search strategy when a bee stagnates for a defined value. The experimental results on Berkeley segmentation database demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm. © 2020, Springer science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH. All rights reserved.

A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) target detection method based on the fusion of multiscale superpixel segmentations is proposed in this paper. SAR images are segmented between land and sea firstly by using superpixel technology in different scales. Secondly, image segmentation results together with the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection result are coalesced. Finally, target detection is realized by fusing different scale results. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested on Sentinel-1A data. © 2020 IEEE.
