This paper is concerned with the modeling and the control of networked control systems(NCSs) with stochastic packet *** order to facilitate the technical description,network-induced time delay is assumed to be *** closed-loop NCS with stochastic packet dropout is modeled as a continuous-time system with time-varying delays and stochastic parameters. By utilizing the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method,the integral inequality lemma and the Gronwall-Bellman lemma,a less conservative criterion for exponential mean-square stability of NCS with stochastic packet dropout is presented in the form of nonlinear matrix ***,the state feedback gain matrix is provided based on solving a linear matrix inequality (LMI).Moreover,the state feedback gain matrix is obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality(LMI).Based on the solvability of this LMI,the allowable upper bound of continuous packet dropouts is determined,from which the maximum allowable time interval(MATI) can also be ***,a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

The analysis and exploration of auroral dynamics are very significant for studying auroral mechanisms. This paper proposes a method based on auroral dynamic processes for detecting auroral events automatically. We first obtained the motion fields using the multiscale fluid flow estimator. Then, the auroral video frame sequence was represented by the spatiotemporal statistics of local motion vectors. Finally, automatic auroral event detection was achieved. The experimental results show that our methods could detect the required auroral events effectively and accurately, and that the detections were independent on any specific auroral event. The proposed method makes it feasible to statistically analyze a large number of continuous observations based on the auroral dynamic process.

Satellite distribution provides a cost-efficient way to expand the coverage of mobile networks to rural areas. However, to become widely accepted by users and content providers, mobile satellite services need to provide a Quality of Experience (QoE) comparable to that of mobile video services provided in cellular networks. Mobile reception by satellite is characterized by shadowing periods where the Line-Of-Sight (LoS) is lost. The only way to overcome these outage periods is to provide the means for implementing long time interleaving. Nonetheless, existing approaches for long time interleaving come at the cost of a long service tune-in time, which may last in the satellite case up to several seconds. The present work aims at demonstrating the achievable performance using an innovative approach based on the use of long time interleaving and fast service tune-in by means of application-layer forward error correction (AL-FEC), Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and unequal time interleaving. Within this work we show the performance of the novel approach in the satellite context comparing it to existing solutions.

Characterization of radio communication signals aims at automatic recognition of different characteristics of radio signals in order to detect their modulation type, the central frequency, and the level. The authors" purpose is to apply techniques used in imageprocessing in order to extract pertinent characteristics. To the single analysis (recognition of membership of certain frequency signal to a radio communication using its characteristics), the authors add several rules for checking the consistency of hypotheses using fuzzy logic. This allows taking into account ambiguity and uncertainty that may remain after the extraction of individual characteristics. The task has been realized in MATLAB. Nitrogen is a key factor for plant photosynthesis, ecosystem productivity and leaf respiration. Under the condition of nitrogen deficiency, the crop shows the nitrogen deficiency symptoms in the bottom leaves, while excessive nitrogen will affect the upper layer leaves first. Thus, timely measurement of vertical distribution of foliage nitrogen content is critical for growth diagnosis, crop management and reducing environmental impact. This study presents a method using bi-directional reflectance difference function (BRDF) data to invert foliage nitrogen vertical distribution. We developed upper-layer nitrogen inversion index (ULNI), middle-layer nitrogen inversion index (MLNI) and bottom-layer nitrogen inversion index (BLNI) to reflect foliage nitrogen inversion at upper layer, middle layer and bottom layer, respectively. Both ULNI and MLNI were made by the value of the ratio of Modified Chlorophyll Absorption Ration Index to the second Modified Triangular Vegetation Index (MCARI/MTVI2) referred to as canopy nitrogen inversion index (CNII) in this study at ±40° and ±50°, and at ±30° and ±40° view angles, respectively. The BLNI was composed by the value of nitrogen reflectance index (NRI) at ±20° and ±30° view angles. These results suggest that it is feasible to measure foliage nitrogen vertical-layer distribution in a large scale by remote sensing.

Super-resolution localization microscopy relies on sparse activation of photo-switchable probes. Such activation, however, introduces limited temporal resolution. High-density imaging overcomes this limitation by allowing several neighboring probes to be activated simultaneously. In this work, we propose an algorithm that incorporates a continuous-domain sparsity prior into the high-density localization problem. We use a Taylor approximation of the PSF, and rely on a fast proximal gradient optimization procedure. Unlike currently available methods that use discrete-domain sparsity priors, our approach does not restrict the estimated locations to a pre-defined sampling grid. Experimental results of simulated and real data demonstrate significant improvement over these methods in terms of accuracy, molecular identification and computational complexity.

This paper presents an investigation on the dynamics of a supply chain system under stock-dependent demand. Considering the feature of piecewise linearity, a switched linear model composed of three subsystems is developed. Based on the switched model, some analytical stability results are derived. Simulation experiments are designed to verify the stability results and observe nonlinear dynamics. We show that stock-dependent demand not only leads to different stability results but also makes nonlinear dynamics more complicated. We also reveal that the nonlinear dynamics of the switched model, such as chaotic and periodic fluctuations of inventory and order, are essentially caused by switching frequently among subsystems due to uncertainties of inventory status. The results obtained in this paper help us understand the dynamic complexities of supply chain system and provide guidelines for selecting decision parameters to improve overall performance.
