Application of the conditional gradient method to a network resource allocation problem with several classes of users

We consider a general problem of optimal allocation of a limited resource in a telecommunication network. The users are divided into several different groups (or classes), which correspond to different levels of service. The network manager has to satisfy users requirements and maximize the network profit, which gives a convex optimization problem with balance and capacity constraints. We suggest to solve this problem with a two-level iterative method where the conditional gradient method is used at its upper level. Then we can solve the lower level problem with simple decomposition algorithms. The computational experiments show rather satisfactory convergence of the suggested method.

The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the disambiguation of the phase measurements based on the identification of the similarity between the paths received during phase and amplitude measurements of the two coordinates of the radio-emitting spacecraft: azimuth and elevation. The measurements are carried out by the multiposition direction finder. The implementation of the suggested approach is then considered in the case of the correlation-phase direction finder operating in the additional correlation-amplitude direction finding mode. © 2019 IEEE.

The paper considers methods and information technologies for full automatization of forest ecosystems sustainability estimation. analysis of forest ecosystem sustainability is explored as a multi-objective problem with applying a complex of models for calculating partial indicators of sustainability. Earth observation (EO) data is used as an essential component of information support for estimating forest ecosystems sustainability indicators. Methodological framework of automatization consists of complex modelling, application of models qualimetry methods for selecting specific calculation models, and methods for multi-criteria analysis to estimate generalized indicators of sustainability. A software architecture is proposed in order to implement procedures of complex modelling with integrated processing EO and field data.

In 2023, La Niña conditions that generally prevailed in the eastern Pacific Ocean from mid-2020 into early 2023 gave way to a strong El Niño by October. Atmospheric concentrations of Earth’s major greenhouse gases—carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide—all increased to record-high levels. The annual global average carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere rose to 419.3±0.1 ppm, which is 50% greater than the pre-industrial level. The growth from 2022 to 2023 was 2.8 ppm, the fourth highest in the record since the 1960s. The combined short-term effects of El Niño and the long-term effects of increasing levels of heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere contributed to new records for many essential climate variables reported here. The annual global temperature across land and oceans was the highest in records dating as far back as 1850, with the last seven months (June–December) having each been record warm. Over land, the globally averaged temperature was also record high. Dozens of countries reported record or near-record warmth for the year, including China and continental Europe as a whole (warmest on record), India and Russia (second warmest), and Canada (third warmest). Intense and widespread heatwaves were reported around the world. In Vietnam, an all-time national maximum temperature record of 44.2°C was observed at Tuong Duong on 7 May, surpassing the previous record of 43.4°C at Huong Khe on 20 April 2019. In Brazil, the air temperature reached 44.8°C in Araçuaí in Minas Gerais on 20 November, potentially a new national record and 12.8°C above normal. The effect of rising temperatures was apparent in the cryosphere, where snow cover extent by June 2023 was the smallest in the 56-year record for North America and seventh smallest for the Northern Hemisphere overall. The MDA approach proposed by the OMG is essentially based on the systematic use of models in all phases of the IT application lifecycle, from analysis and design to automatic code generation of the application. This to give a better productivity and greater durability of developments. In the MDA approach, the business logic of an application is modeled independently of any running platform. Then, a model transformation mechanism allows the automatic production of models and code specific to each platform (J2EE, EJB ...). After a detailed description of the standards on which MDA is based, such as MOF, OCL, QVT and XMI, our effort will be focused on developing a Meta model for EJB components and on the definition of transformation rules allowing automatic conversion from UML models to EJB component models.

This paper is dedicated to the current state of the Geometry Database (Geometry DB) for the CBM experiment and first results of using the Geometry DB for NICA project. Geometry DB is an information system that supports the CBM geometry. The main aims of Geometry DB are to provide the storage of the CBM geometry, to manage the geometry modules, to assemble various setups as combinations of geometry modules and additional files, to provide its support. The development takes into account the specifics of the workflow for simulation of particles transport through the setup. Both Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Application Programming Interface (API) are available for members of the CBM collaboration. In our approach, the details of the geometry modules are stored in the format of ROOT files. This paper presents the current state of the development of the information system "Geometry Database" (Geometry DB) for the CBM experiment. The Geometry DB supports the CBM geometry, which describes the CBM experimental setup at the detail level required for simulation of particles transport through the setup using the software GEANT3. The Geometry DB is aimed to provide the storage the CBM geometry and the tools for the geometry modules management, assembling various versions of the CBM setup and providing support of various versions of the CBM setup. The Geometry DB development is carried out on the basis of analyzed users' requirements. Global economic instability generates new types of the competition. One of such new types is optimization of the organization. Complexity and speed of changes of external environment of functioning of the company at the present stage of development of world economy causes necessity to give considerably bigger attention to optimization of the organization. In this regard, there is a need of application of the innovative integrated approach allowing performing optimization in interrelation with strategic objectives, to consider interests of all parties involved, and to provide formation of internal business processes according to the customer-oriented approach. It is offered to realize this approach by means of BSC-SWOT matrix.
