A low-profile, high-gain, wideband circularly polarized folded transmitarray antenna (CPFTA) is proposed, and a polarization-selective linear-to-circular polarization (LP-CP) conversion element is introduced. The CPFTA consists of a linearly polarized (LP) magnetoelectric dipole antenna and a circularly polarized (CP) helical patch antenna. The CPFTA demonstrates excellent performance with a 3dB gain bandwidth of 29.5% and a 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 40.9%. © 2024 IEEE.

A control circuit for active metasurface based on varactor diode is designed in this paper. By varying the reverse bias voltage on the varactor diode, the designed circuit can regulate the additional phase of the active meta-atoms. The circuit adopts a form of one master and multiple slaves, which can simultaneously control the bias voltage of 960 meta-atoms. Each slave can control up to 64 channels. The control accuracy is 0.04V. The power consumption of a single slave is 160mW. Though experiment verification, the circuit has a good effect in controlling the beam deflection of the metasurface and generating OAM beams.

Cognitive diagnosis plays a vital role in modern intelligent education platforms to reveal students’ proficiency in knowledge concepts for subsequent adaptive tasks. However, due to the requirement of high model interpretability, existing manually designed cognitive diagnosis models hold too simple architectures to meet the demand of current intelligent education systems, where the bias of human design also limits the emergence of effective cognitive diagnosis models. In this paper, we propose to automatically design novel cognitive diagnosis models by evolutionary multiobjective neural architecture search (NAS). Specifically, we observe existing models can be represented by a general model handling three given types of inputs and thus first design an expressive search space for the NAS task in cognitive diagnosis. Then, we propose multi-objective genetic programming (MOGP) to explore the NAS task’s search space by maximizing model performance and interpretability. In the MOGP design, each architecture is transformed into a tree architecture and encoded by a tree for easy optimization, and a tailored genetic operation based on four sub-genetic operations is devised to generate offspring effectively. Besides, an initialization strategy is also suggested to accelerate the convergence by evolving half of the population from existing models’ variants. Experiments on two real-world datasets demonstrate that the cognitive diagnosis models searched by the proposed approach exhibit significantly better performance than existing models and also hold as good interpretability as human-designed models. Traffic flow estimation (TFE) is crucial for urban intelligent traffic systems. While traditional on-road detectors are hindered by limited coverage and high costs, cloud computing and data mining of vehicular network data, such as driving speeds and GPS coordinates, present a promising and cost-effective alternative. Furthermore, minimizing data collection can significantly reduce overhead. However, limited data can lead to inaccuracies and instability in TFE. To address this, we introduce the spatial-temporal Mamba (ST-Mamba), a deep learning model combining a convolutional neural network (CNN) with a Mamba framework. ST-Mamba is designed to enhance TFE accuracy and stability by effectively capturing the spatial-temporal patterns within traffic flow. Our model aims to achieve results comparable to those from extensive data sets while only utilizing minimal data. Simulations using real-world datasets have validated our model’s ability to deliver precise and stable TFE across an urban landscape based on limited data, establishing a cost-efficient solution for TFE.

To overcome image degradation under the conditions of haze,and fog,a method using conditional generative adversarial defogging algorithm based on polarization characteristic is *** original images with different polarization angles were obtained from the original image,and then the polarization images were characterized using Stokes *** the relationship between Stokes vector and polarization image,each polarization image with different angles is input into the same network to extract *** the same time,the enhanced network is used to extract the characteristics of the fog area in the polarization image,and the polarization information is extracted by layer jump connection,which is fused with the image features of different *** constructing the loss function and obtaining the optimal solution,the fog-free image is finally *** results show that a clear image can be reconstructed in fog situations by using conditional generative adversarial network-based on polarization characteristics,and the structural similarity is improved by about 10%,the peak signal to noise ratio is increased by about 0.5.

On four conjectures of Heng-Ding and p-ary linear codes from monomials

Subfield codes of linear codes over finite fields have recently attracted great attention due to their wide applications in secret sharing schemes, authentication codes and association schemes. There are two major ingredients in this paper. The first ingredient is to solve four conjectures recently proposed by Heng and Ding (IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, 68(6): 3643-3656, 2022). Besides, we also determine the weight distributions of subfield codes derived from x3 and oval polynomials over F2m. The second ingredient is to obtain two classes of p-ary linear codes from monomials over Fpm. We study the parameters of the constructed codes and determine their weight distributions. Notably, we show that the codes C(p) (xpi, pm) are optimal and almost optimal in many cases with respect to the online Database of Grassl. Finally, we observe that the derived linear codes also have the minimality property for most cases. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Integrated photonic gadgets play a key function in lots of fields. The process of designing silicon optical devices mostly relies on experience to manually adjust the subtle parameters, which is laborious and ineffective. The proposed inverse design algorithms can simplify the design process of silicon optical devices, improve the design efficiency, and realize multifunctional compact devices. In this paper, two inverse design based methods are proposed to design terahertz band wavelength division multiplexer(WDM). One is based on topology optimization to design a 4-channel ultra-wideband WDM and the other employs a direct binary search technique to create a 3-channel ultra-wideband terahertz WDM, both of which have high transmission, low interference and high integration. Multifunctional photonics devices are predicted to be increasingly used in modern photonic integrated circuits due to these advantages. © 2022 IEEE.

We present a no-reference image-quality - assessment algorithm based on active reasoning module. This algorithm has three modules: the feature extraction module, the active reasoning module, and the quality assessment module. The active reasoning module incorporates the generator component of the generative adversarial network and enhances its structure with the Res2Net architecture. By integrating this module into the backbone feature extraction network, we improve the receptive field of each convolutional layer, enabling the network to capture information at different scales of the image. To preserve the texture information of the image, we input the gradient map of the distorted image, the distorted image itself, and the image features generated by the generator into the quality assessment module, which has a multi-feature regression networks. This module establishes a mapping model from image-feature to image-quality scores. We conducted experimental analysis of this algorithm on three widely used public datasets, confirming the excellent performance and superiorities of the presented algorithm. The results validate the effectiveness of the designed algorithm and its ability to assess image quality accurately. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to obtain an absorber with high absorption efficiency and wide absorption band, a metamaterial structure by Metal-ENZ-Insulator-Metal (MEIM) is designed, and its absorption in the 130-230 THz band is calculated using the simulation software frequency-domain solver. By rotating the upper metal layer and the lower hollow layer, the simulation results can be slightly disturbed. In addition, the introduction of the epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) media will also affect the bandwidth and absorption of the absorber. Therefore, the high absorption and wide bandwidth of the absorber are achieved by the size of the structure, the rotation angle of the corresponding structure,and the clever application of the ITO layer. © 2022 IEEE.

Double-Local Conditional Probability Based Fast Calculation Method for Approximation Regions of Probabilistic Rough Sets

As an extended rough set model, the probabilistic rough sets can effectively process data with noise. How to effectively calculate three approximation regions, is a crucial issue of probability rough sets. Existing calculation methods for approximation regions are based on conditional probability, the time complexity is O(|U||U||C|). In order to improve the computing efficiency of three approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets, we propose a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method. First, to improve the computational efficiency of equivalence class, we define the double-local equivalence class. Second, based on the double-local equivalence class, we define the double-local conditional probability. Finally, given the probability thresholds and a local equivalence class, the monotonicity of double-local conditional probability is proved, on this basis, a double-local conditional probability based fast calculation method for approximation regions of probabilistic rough sets is presented, and the time complexity is O(MAX(X||U||C|, |XC||U||C|)). Experimental results based on 12 datasets from UCI demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
