In this paper, a novel sparse multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) array (SMA) is proposed with closed-form expression. The proposed SMA is devised using the difference-coarray of the sum-coarray concept and the uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle. More specifically, the transmitting and receiving arrays of the proposed SMA are sparse arrays designed via the UF principle. Compared with the existing SMAs, the proposed SMA has augmented uniform degrees of freedom (uDOF) and sensor separation. Numerical simulations verify the good capacity of the proposed SMA in terms of uDOF, mutual coupling, and direction finding accuracy.

Reconfigurable intelligent Surfaces (RIS) are recognized for their ability to actively control signal propagation, presenting a wide array of applications in 5G and the forthcoming 6G networks. In this paper, we design a RIS-assisted multi-input single-output (MISO) model and propose a corresponding direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm. The proposed DOA estimation algorithm leverages the non-convex Ekblom norm to serve as the error criterion, ensuring robustness against impulsive noises, while the smoothed L1 norm is implemented as the regularization constraint to further enhance the performance of the algorithm. Distinct from prior research, the system under consideration operates with a single receive antenna, facilitating DOA estimation through the adjustment of RIS reflection coefficients, thereby markedly reducing system hardware costs. Moreover, we devise an alternating minimization strategy to obtain the optimal solution to the problem. A series of simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm surpasses existing methods in terms of accuracy and robustness.

Performer: A High-Performance Global-Local Model-Augmented with Dual Network Interaction Mechanism

In deep learning, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) focus on local information through convolutional kernels, while transformers attend to global information using self-attention mechanisms. The union of these distinct approaches enables a more comprehensive extraction of image features. However, the feature map dimensions of CNN and Transformer differ, leading to dimension mismatch issues when combining these architectures. Additionally, the parameter size of the hybrid model integrating both architectures remains large, making it difficult to train. To further augmenting the interpretation of complex image patterns, we present Performer, a dual-network architecture that seamlessly combines CNNs and transformers, resulting in a novel and efficient representation learning model. In the Performer model, we innovate by devising a unique interaction methodology for CNN and transformer architectures to enhance the image feature extraction capabilities mutually. To counteract issue of dimensionality mismatch, we also introduce a refined transformer block, a advancement over the transformer block of ViT. To validate the effectiveness of Performer, we conduct extensive experiments on both classification and segmentation tasks. Performer achieve an accuracy of 83.37% on the ImageNet-200 dataset. For semantic segmentation, Performer excels on the CamVid and Hippocampus datasets. On CamVid, our model achieves a mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 63.27% and Pixel Accuracy of 92.11%, demonstrating superior performance in capturing fine details and handling complex scenes effectively. Finding a mass formula for a given class of linear codes is a fundamental problem in combinatorics and coding theory. In this paper, we consider the action of the unitary (resp. symplectic) group on the set of all Hermitian (resp. symplectic) linear complementary dual (LCD) codes, prove that all Hermitian (resp. symplectic) LCD codes are on a unique orbit under this action, and determine the formula for the size of the orbit. Based on this, we develop a general technique to obtain a closed mass formula for linear codes with prescribed Hermitian (resp. symplectic) hull dimension, and further obtain some asymptotic results. This paper introduced a dual-layer broadband high-gain circularly polarized (CP) antenna. The proposed broadband CP antenna consists of the radiating patch and couping structure, which is made up of opening slot patch and L-shaped stub. An axial-ratio bandwidth of 26 % (4.36-5.66 GHz) is shown by this proposed dual-layer CP patch antenna with a simulated -10-dB reflection coefficient bandwidth of 37 % (4.23-6.15 GHz). The broadband characteristics offered by this CP antenna are promising for a wide range of future applications.

Transfer learning aims to leverage the knowledge of the source domain to help the learning of unlabeled target domain models. However, all conventional transfer learning methods assume that samples from source and target domains are always freely accessible. However, this assumption is rarely plausible in real-world due to data privacy. To combat this challenge, we introduce Structure-constrain Source Free Domain Adaptation with regularized Knowledge Distillation of source model (SSFDA-KD). Our method is based on the observations that a deterministic classification result can be obtained when the target data distribution aligns with the source data distribution, and a well-trained model not only yields a deterministic classification for a sample but also has clear category boundaries, which implies samples that are close together belong to the same category. From those, we first generate the source model with labeled source data, which is regarded as a well-trained model. Then, we identify target prototypes with lower self-entropy and assign the pseudo-labels to other samples according to the neighborhood structure. Finally, we refine the target model by minimizing prediction loss, constraining internal structure via triplet loss, and reducing knowledge distillation loss. Experiments of fault diagnosis based on WWTPs are conducted to validate its effectiveness.

With the capability to sculpt complex radiative wavefronts and couple energy from the reference wave to the desired radiation pattern, metasurface antennas have gained tremendous progress in recent years. The flexibility in antenna design gives rise to a bunch of metasurface antennas, while there is still a comprise between the needed operation band and radiation field pattern coherence. Furthermore, the relatively low sampling ratio and overlap between frequency measurement modes would inevitably pose a great challenge for matched filter and other advanced sparsity-driven post-processing imaging algorithms. In this paper, we design a deep neural network to achieve fast scene image reconstruction. The trained network could fastly reconstruct the imaged object in both low scene compressed ratio and high coherence of the measurement modes. The imaging experiments with measured radiation field data are conducted to verify the effectiveness of our method.

A Passive Mixed Loaded Over-Hundred-Octave Miniaturized Super-Wideband Antenna

An over-hundred-octave miniaturized super- wideband antenna based on passive elements mixed loading is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of inversed E-radiation patch, feeding line, several passive mixed loaded elements. The entire size of the proposed antenna is 0.012λ×0.01λ×0.00005λ (where λ is the lowest frequency of realized bandwidth). Derived from the analysis of impedance and equivalent circuit, by properly adjusting the inversed E-radiation patch and loading 5 passive elements into the construction of the antenna in position, the bandwidth is greatly improved. The simulated and measured results show that a -10dB fractional bandwidth of 196.2% is realized. Moreover, good omni-directional radiation patterns within the operating frequency band have been achieved from 10MHz to 1051MHz for HF, VHF and UHF applications. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

This brief proposes a recursive constrained sine second-order error promoting adaptive (RCSSOEPA) algorithm. Compared with classical recursive method, the RCSSOEPA algorithm can achieve better steady state performance in impulsive noise. In general, the sine second-order error (SSOE) is constructed to devise a new recursive constrained adaptive-filtering within the least-squares framework for solving linear constrained optimization problems. The mean-square (MS) stability of the RCSSOEPA and its theoretical instantaneous MS deviation under Gaussian and non Gaussian noise are analyzed, numerically investigated and discussed in detail. Simulated results are reported to give a comfirmation of the theoretical analysis, and show that the RCSSOEPA outperforms recent developed constrained adaptive filtering algorithms in the estimation misalignment and when used for system identification under impulsive-noise. © 2023, CC BY.

As a pivotal technique in intelligent education systems, cognitive diagnosis (CD) serves to reveal students’ knowledge proficiency for better tackling subsequent tasks. Unfortunately, due to pursuing high model interpretability, existing manually designed models for CD often hold simplistic architectures, which cannot cope with intricate data in modern education platforms. Furthermore, the bias of human design limits the emergence of novel and effective CD models. To develop interpretable and more effective models, thus this paper proposes an evolutionary multi-objective neural architecture search (NAS) approach for CD. Specifically, we first adopt a comprehensive search space for the NAS task of CD: all candidate models can be encompassed by a general model that deals with three distinct types of inputs. Then, an innovative model interpretability objective is devised to formulate the architecture search task as a bi-objective optimization problem (BOP). To solve the BOP, we employ a multi-objective genetic programming (MOGP) as the search strategy to explore the search space. To make the employed MOGP search well, all architectures are first encoded by trees for easy optimization, and we devise a genetic operation and a population initialization strategy to expedite its convergence. Finally, the proposed approach is actually a MOGP-based NAS approach for CD. Extensive experiments show that CD models searched by the proposed approach exhibit significantly better performance than existing models and hold as good interpretability as handcrafted models.
