In this paper, a band-pass plasmonic filter based on Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) waveguides and its modified structures are designed and investigated theoretically and numerically. The filter consists of two circular ring resonator and its modified structures which has narrow gaps in the middle of resonant rings. To study their performance in different structures, propagation modes of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are investigated. In outer gapped model, we found that the transmission in different resonant modes can be effectively tuned by varying the gap width, and the transmission peak wavelength is nonlinear with the gap width. The results are obtained by high-order symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) algorithm which is non-dissipative and has low dispersion error. The structure with double gaps in both external and internal rings have potential applications in plasmonic integrated circuits, because of its characteristic of a single narrow band-pass with high transmittance. The introduced structures may provide a novel method for the design of devices in highly integrated optical circuits.

A low-profile, high-gain, wideband circularly polarized folded transmitarray antenna (CPFTA) is proposed, and a polarization-selective linear-to-circular polarization (LP-CP) conversion element is introduced. The CPFTA consists of a linearly polarized (LP) magnetoelectric dipole antenna and a circularly polarized (CP) helical patch antenna. The CPFTA demonstrates excellent performance with a 3dB gain bandwidth of 29.5% and a 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 40.9%.

A compact dual polarization dipole antenna for the application to 5G base station is investigated, which is composed of radiator, baluns, and metal reflector, having an impendence bandwidth of 23.6% with VSWR<1.5. The dual-polarized antenna has a high ports isolation, high cross-polarization and high gain in operating bandwidth. The results indicate that this work can operate in entire N78 band and provide potential application for 5G base station.

We presents a squared sine functioned adaptive (SSA) algorithm for acoustic-echo-cancellation (AEC) applications in-presence-of impulsive noise. In the development of the SSA algorithm, a novel cost function is constructed by exerting a sliding window type squared sine function on the estimation error vector, which provides robustness in the impulsive-noise environments and speed-ups convergence when the input is colored signals. Theoretical models for predicting the mean-weight-behavior, transient excess-mean-square-error (EMSE) behavior, and tracking behavior are presented. Moreover, the optimal step size and minimum EMSE of the tracking performance are provided. The computation complexity of SSA algorithm has also been investigated. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the theoretical results match well with simulation results and show the superiority of the proposed SSA algorithm against known algorithms in AEC applications. © 2023, CC BY.

The complementary benefits from visible and thermal infrared data are widely utilized in various computer vision task, such as visual tracking, semantic segmentation and object detection, but rarely explored in Multiple Object Tracking (MOT). In this work, we contribute a large-scale Visible-Thermal video benchmark for MOT, called VT-MOT. VT-MOT has the following main advantages. 1) The data is large scale and high diversity. VT-MOT includes 582 video sequence pairs, 401k frame pairs from surveillance, drone, and handheld platforms. 2) The cross-modal alignment is highly accurate. We invite several professionals to perform both spatial and temporal alignment frame by frame. 3) The annotation is dense and high-quality. VT-MOT has 3.99 million annotation boxes annotated and double-checked by professionals, including heavy occlusion and object re-acquisition (object disappear and reappear) challenges. To provide a strong baseline, we design a simple yet effective tracking framework, which effectively fuses temporal information and complementary information of two modalities in a progressive manner, for robust visible-thermal MOT. A comprehensive experiment are conducted on VT-MOT and the results prove the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method compared with state-of-the-art methods. With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT), computation offloading collaboration has become an important solution to address the data processing challenges faced by resource-constrained devices. However, security and privacy issues have become a major concern in the computation offloading collaboration process. This paper proposes a blockchain-assisted computation offloading collaboration scheme, Blockchain-Assisted Computation Offloading Collaboration (BACOC). The scheme uses blockchain technology to assist computation offloading collaboration under IoT conditions to fortify security and resilience during the computation offloading process. At the same time, a hierarchical game model based on Stackelberg game theory and contract theory is adopted to determine the optimal service pricing strategy. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the BACOC scheme. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A Simple Single-Fed Penta-Band Omnidirectional Antenna with Independent Band Control

A novel method of designing a penta-band omnidirectional low-profile antenna with independent band control is proposed. Single-band, dual-band, tri-band, quad-band, and penta-band antennas are investigated, respectively. The proposed penta-band antenna consists of a circular patch, three concentric metal pins, and two square metal plates. The evolutionary step of the penta-band antenna is achieved by adding metal rings and a small metal plate above the big ground. Each of the four metal rings is excited at TM01 mode resonance, while the 5th mode is generated by a small loop resonance formed by the small plate, shorting pin, stub, and the outer conductor of the cable. The penta-band antenna has a small volume of π × (0.109λ1.53GHz)2 × 0.053λ1.53GHz. The corresponding impedance bandwidths (IMBWs) of the five operating bands are 4.9%, 9.4%, 9.0%, 4.8%, 5.0%. Compared with other designs, the proposed antennas exhibit more flexible bands by using a simple structure. Meanwhile, the antenna has a stable omnidirectional radiation pattern across the five bands and a compact size. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

For the past few years, perovskite solar cells have become the most promising photovoltaic devices because of its excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency. Perovskite solar cells have defects in body, interface and energy level misalignment, which lead to the increase of non-radiative recombination loss and hinder the further improvement of efficiency and stability. Therefore, the reduced loss originated from the energy level misalignment and interface defects, which is essentially important to the realization of efficient perovskite solar cells. In the research of this paper, the influence of double electron transport layer and its stepwise conduction band structure on the device performance is studied. The results show that the double-layer electron transport layer structure can improve the loss of interface energy level misalignment and provide insight into high-performance solar cells.

Deformable image registration is crucial in medical image analysis. Recently, unsupervised methods using intensity matching have shown promising results without labeled data. However, these methods still face challenges: (1) They often encounter local optima when handling anatomical structures with significant variations in intensity distribution;(2) Time domain convolution in decoders leads to loss of high-frequency fine features, limiting the effectiveness of generating fine deformation vector fields. To address these issues, we propose a novel structure-aware and time-frequency domain interaction (STFI) network. STFI integrates a structure-aware frequency domain loss and a time-frequency domain interaction module. The former leverages principal structural information from the weighted phase spectrum to guide the registration process, thereby reducing the risk of local optima. The latter processes and amalgamates information from both the time and frequency domains, effectively preserving high-frequency details. The efficacy and adaptability of our approach have been demonstrated on two types of data, offering a new perspective on exploiting time-frequency domain information for medical image registration. © 2025, The Authors. Understanding the Robustness of 3D Object Detection with Bird’s-Eye-View Representations in Autonomous Driving

3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird’s-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations;2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features;3) Camera-LiDAR fusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models. Code available at https: //***/zzj403/BEV_Robust.
