A nonperturbative and universal FDTD model is proposed to investigate the nonlinear responses from metallic metamaterials. By coupling the hydrodynamic equation to the Maxwell equation, the multiphysics model enables to investigate both linear and nonlinear dynamics of free electron gas within the metallic metamaterials without any approximations and prior assumptions. Moreover, the proposed FDFD model has a potential to capture nonlocal response and other quantum effects from metallic metamaterials.

In this paper, we propose a sampling approach of reference points used for performance metrics of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. Traditional reference point sampling methods, such as the Das and Dennis method, usually sample the reference points via a set of uniformly distributed weight vectors generated on an ideal hyper-plane in objective space, which however often ignore the geometric shape of a specific Pareto front. Therefore, we propose a novel reference point sampling approach by taking the specific shape of the Pareto optimal front to be tackled into account for measuring the performance of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The performance of the proposed reference point sampling method against the other two state-of-the-art sampling methods is tested on six test instances in various conditions, which clearly demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed sampling method.

Since there is good potential for practical applications such as encrypted image authentication, content owner identification and privacy protection, reversible data hiding in encrypted image (RDHEI) has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a new separable RDHEI framework. Additional data can be embedded into a cipher image previously encrypted using Josephus traversal and a stream cipher. A block histogram shifting (BHS) approach using self-hidden peak pixels is adopted to perform reversible data embedding. Depending on the keys held, legal receivers can extract only the embedded data with the data hiding key, or, they can decrypt an image very similar to the original with the decryption key. They can extract both the embedded data and recover the original image error-free if both keys are available. The results demonstrate that higher embedding payload, better quality of decrypted-marked image and error-free image recovery are achieved.

Human salience of pedestrians images is distinctive and has been shown importantly in person re-identification (or pedestrians identification) problem. Thus, how to obtain the salient area of pedestrian images is important for this salience based pedestrians identification problem. In this paper, we first show that this kind of salient area detection can be formulated as a kind of outlier detection problem, and then propose a novel unsupervised salience learning method using a local outlier-detection technique for person re-identification task. The main feature of the proposed salience computation method is that it exploits both distance and density information simultaneously. Experimental results on several datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed salience based person re-identification method. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

In classical compressive holography (CH), which based on the Gabor holography setup, two nonlinear terms are inherent in the intensity recorded by a 2D detector arrays, the DC term and the squared field term. The DC term (the term at the origin) can be eliminated by filtering the Fourier transform of the interference irradiance measurements using appropriate high-pass filter near the zero frequency. The nonlinearity caused by the squared field term can be neglected and modeled as a error term in the measurement. However, the above assumptions are significantly limited, which yields the degradation of reconstruction quality. In this paper, an novel scheme using phase-shifting method is presented. To accurately recover the complex optical field caused by the propagation of the object, without the influence of the DC term and the squared field term, a very effective method for removing these two terms is introduced. The complex optical field of the 3D object and the complex optical field at the detector plane can be precisely represented by a linear mapping model. The complex optical field at the recorder plane is obtained by phase-shifting interferometry with multiple shots. Then, the corresponded complex optical field at the detector plane can be successfully extracted from multiple captured holograms using conventional four phase-shifting interferometry. From such complex optical field at the record plane, including the amplitude and phase information, the complex optical field of the 3D object can be reconstructed via an optimization procedure. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2015 SPIE.

Dynamic clustering algorithm in mobile wireless sensor network

In this paper, we analyzed the blindness of traditional clustering algorithms, which select cluster head based on residual energy. Then we proposed the Dynamic Clustering Algorithm (DCA) in Mobile Wireless Sensor Network, which takes into consideration residual buffer level when selecting cluster heads and allots time slots dynamically base on the occupied buffer level. We analyzed the energy model of the proposed DCA algorithm and calculated the optimal distance between cluster heads. Simulation results show that our DCA clustering algorithm has good performances in terms of residual energy, data transmission and network lifetime by comparing it with LEACH and LEACH-CI. ©, 2015, Journal of Information and Computational Science. In this paper, a new method of non contact and on-line measurement is presented for the change of the axis of the rotation axis. Under the condition of a constant light source, the image of the original position and the offset image in the original position are collected by the micro camera, These two pictures are calculated by the improved White light digital image point by point analysis method in this paper, and get the black and white stripes. The number and the angle of the fringe in the white light digital frequency domain interference image can be known as the offset and direction of the rotating shaft in the rotating process. Because this method only use a camera and a light source, and this method is very simple, and it can always detect, and it does not affect the normal work, so there is a wide range of industrial application prospects. This method can provide alarm before the plastic deformation occurs in the shaft, Reduce the risk of shaft damage. © 2016, Science Press. All right reserved.

Band structure of triangular lattices photonic crystals with lossy and dispersive materials

In order to explore the properties of photoniccrystals, the finite element method was introduced to calculate the band structure of lossy and dispersive photonic crystals with triangular lattice. By using this method, the calculation of band structure is reduced to a quadratic eigenvalue problem which the eigenvalue is the Bloch wave vector, the band structure and eigenmode can be obtained more effectively. The band structure in the TE and TM mode of photonic crystals with dielectric material in triangular lattice was compared with the reference to demonstrate the accuracy of the method. Furthermore, the dispersion relation of the lossy and lossless photonic crystals was also given by the proposed method. The symmetry and surface plasmon polarizations properties are found in lossless photonic crystals and electric field distributions are concentrated on the interface of dispersive materials and air. It is demonstrated in the lossy photonic crystals that the symmetry is destroyed, the surface plasmon polarizations properties are weakened and electric field density is decreased. The results can be used as theoretical basis and reference for studying the lossy photonic crystals and surface plasmon polarizations. © 2016, Science Press. All right reserved.

This paper describes an image compression method based on block truncation coding (BTC) and linear regression coding (LRC) hybrid strategy. BTC is simple and easy to use, but only two representative values can not adequately represent the visual feature of image blocks. However, LRC can obtain different values of points with the line function by recording the coefficient of the regression line while the data distribution shows a linear relationship. The proposed method designs a hybrid strategy to combine the advantages of the two methods to improve image quality. In the paper, first, models are designed to rearrange the data of image blocks to satisfy a linear distribution, and then these models are used to code the image blocks. The experimental results indicated that the proposed method is superior to the BTC scheme in terms of image quality, and it can be used for image compression applications. © 2016.

Reversible data hiding in encrypted image (RDHEI) is an emerging technology since it has good potential for practical applications such as encrypted image authentication, content owner identification and privacy protection. But there is one key problem of many existing published works, that the embedded data only can be extracted either before or after image decryption. In this paper, a complete separable reversible data hiding scheme in encrypted images is proposed. Additional data can be embedded into a cipher image which is encrypted by RC4 and can be extracted error-free both from the cipher domain and the plaintext domain. Moreover, the proposed method is simpler to calculate, while offering better performance. The results demonstrate that larger payload, better image quality, and error-free data extraction as well as image recovery are achieved. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.
