In this paper, a novel predictor-based disturbance rejection control scheme is proposed for industrial stable and integrating processes with time delay. Two realizable differentiators with finite gain are first introduced to estimate the derivatives of the delay-free output response given by a generalized predictor. Then, a predicted disturbance response is constructed for feedforward compensation by using the input signal along with the delay-free output response and its estimated derivatives. By specifying the desired closed-loop poles, the feedback controller is derived analytically. A prominent advantage of the proposed control scheme lies in that a trade-off between the control performance and its robustness against process uncertainties can be made by monotonically tuning the adjustable parameters in the prediction filter, differentiator and feedback controller, respectively. The necessary and sufficient condition for robust stability of the closed-loop system is established based on the small gain theorem. Two illustrative examples from the literature are adopted to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control scheme.

The short-term hydrothermal scheduling (STHS) is a complex non-linear, non-convex and high-dimensional mathematical optimization problem. Due to the fact that the original chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA) is likely to fall into local optimum and has the disadvantage of low population diversity, an improved chimp optimization algorithm (IChOA) is proposed to solve the STHS problem. Firstly, Logistic-Tent chaotic mapping is employed to initialize the population and increase the population diversity. Then a new nonlinear convergence factor is introduced to make the optimization search process more applicable to STHS problems. Next, particle swarm algorithm (PSO) and gravitational search algorithm (GSA) are combined to enhance the shortcoming and balance the global search ability and local exploration ability of ChOA. Moreover, Cauchy mutation and opposition-based learning strategy are supplemented as perturbation interference when the optimal position is not updated to improve the ability to leap out of the local optimum. Finally, a graded optimization strategy is adopted for the constraint handing of dynamic reservoir balance and thermal power balance. Three standard hydrothermal power systems are utilized to verify the practicability and validity of the proposed method. Results of simulations reveal that IChOA has significant competitive advantages in addressing the STHS problem. © 2022, IAENG International Journal of Computer Science. All Rights Reserved.

With most countries paying attention to the environment protection, hybrid electric vehicles have become a focus of automobile research and development due to the characteristics of energy saving and low emission. Power follower control strategy(PFCS) and DC-link voltage control strategy are two sorts of control strategies for series hybrid electric vehicles(HEVs). Combining those two control strategies is a new idea for control strategy of series hybrid electric vehicles. By tuning essential parameters which are the defined constants under DClink voltage control and under PFCS, the points of minimum mass of equivalent fuel consumption(EFC) corresponding to a series of variables are marked for worldwide harmonized light vehicles test procedure(WLTP). The fuel economy of series HEVs with the combination control schemes performs better compared with individual control scheme. The results show the effects of the combination control schemes for series HEVs driving in an urban environment.

Spectrum sensing is a fundamental function for cognitive radio systems, which can improve spectrum utilization. In this article, a blind spectrum sensing method based on the sample covariance matrix and K-median clustering algorithm is proposed to further improve the sensing performance. Specifically, to obtain a two-dimensional signal feature vector, the received signal matrix is rebuilt into two sub-matrices by the decomposition and reorganization (DAR) method. Moreover, two statistical covariance matrices are constructed by the sub-matrices, respectively. The ratios between the sum of some elements from the sample covariance matrices and the sum of diagonal elements from those matrices are used as a signal feature vector. It is demonstrated that the new signal feature vector and the feature vector based on the improved covariance absolute value method are equivalent. Furthermore, K-median clustering algorithm is trained by signal feature vectors to obtain a classifier. Indeed, this classifier can directly be used to detect whether the PU signal is absent or not. Simulation results report that the proposed algorithm has better sensing performance than some popular sensing algorithms based on random matrix theory or information geometry. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Spintronic devices have the advantages of high endurance and energy efficiency for nonvolatile memory and emerging neuromorphic computing applications, especially with the spin-orbit torque (SOT) driven magnetization switching manner. The Co-based Heusler alloy is potentially an ideal material for constructing spintronic devices due to its high spin polarization, high saturation magnetization, high Curie temperature and low damping. Here, we investigate the current induced magnetization switching of Heusler alloy Co 2 FeSi with good perpendicular magnetic anisotropy through SOT. Inspired by the gradual switching process, we further study the memristive behaviors of the device, which can be used as artificial synapse for neuromorphic computing. Both the pulse amplitudes and pulse numbers are exploited to modulate the resistance states. Based on the extracted synaptic characteristics, an artificial neural network is simulated, causing a high accuracy of 91.52%. Our work paves a way for the application of Heusler alloy in magnetic random-access memory and neuromorphic computing. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of substation fittings is of great significance for live working robots. However, the key problem is that active 3D cameras cannot work in outdoor strong light environment, and the passive 3D cameras cannot extract features of weak texture targets. This paper proposes an outdoor 3D reconstruction method based on multi-line laser and binocular vision. To solve the problem that weak texture target has few features, we use multi-line laser to create artificial features. To reduce the interference of natural light on the laser in the images, the frame-difference method is proposed for natural light filtering. Then we use the gray-centroid method to position the multi-line laser accurately. Finally, the binocular vision model is used to complete 3D reconstruction of the target. The experiments show that, compared with traditional 3D reconstruction methods, our 3D reconstruction method can realize 3D reconstruction of outdoor weak texture targets effectively.

Credit card transaction fraud costs billions of dollars to card issuers every year. Besides, the credit card transaction dataset is very skewed, there are much fewer samples of frauds than legitimate transactions. Due to the data security and privacy, different banks are usually not allowed to share their transaction datasets. These problems make traditional model difficult to learn the patterns of frauds and also difficult to detect them. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework termed as Federated Meta-Learning for fraud detection. Different from the traditional technologies trained with data centralized in the cloud, our model enables banks to learn fraud detection model with the training data distributed on their own local database. A shared whole model is constructed by aggregating locally-computed updates of fraud detection model. Banks can collectively reap the benefits of shared model without sharing the dataset and protect the sensitive information of cardholders. To achieve the good performance of classification, we further formulate an improved triplet-like metric learning, and design a novel meta-learning-based classifier, which allows joint comparison with K negative samples in each mini-batch. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves significantly higher performance compared with the other state-of-the-art approaches. © 2020 Inst. Sci. inf., Univ. Online Adaptive Critic Robust control of Discrete-Time Nonlinear systems With Unknown Dynamics ⁎

This paper concerns the optimal model reference adaptive control problem for unknown discrete-time nonlinear systems. For such problem, it is challenging to improve online learning efficiency and guaranteeing robustness to the uncertainty. To this end, we develop an online adaptive critic robust control method. In this method, a critic network and a new supervised action network are constructed to not only improve the real-time learning efficiency, but also obtain the optimal control performance. By combining the designed compensation control term, robustness is further guaranteed by compensating the uncertainty. The comparative simulation study is conducted to show the superiority of our developed method.

A comprehensive evaluation method for states adjustment priority of drilling process ⁎

Drilling is an important means of obtaining resources. It is important to determine appropriate drilling states adjustment priority to guide operation of the drilling. However, the priority of drilling states adjustment is difficult to determine because of the influence of multiple parameters. In this paper, a priority comprehensive evaluation method is developed to solve this problem. Firstly, support vector regression (SVR) method and long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network are introduced to build rate of penetration (ROP) prediction model and mud pit volume (MPV) prediction model, respectively. Then, the comprehensive evaluation vector is obtained by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based on analysis of formation drillability, rock characteristic, pump pressure variation, ROP and MPV fluctuations. Finally, the drilling states adjustment priority is determined by the principle of maximum membership and comprehensive analysis method. The simulation based on actual drilling data indicates that the proposed method can determine the adjustment priority and guide the operation of the drilling process.

Fault detection for geological drilling processes using multivariate generalized Gaussian distribution and Kullback Leibler divergence ⁎

The presence of downhole faults compromises the safety and also leads to increased maintenance costs in complex geological drilling processes. In order to achieve timely and accurate detection of downhole faults, a systematic fault detection method is proposed based on the Multivariate Generalized Gaussian Distribution (MGGD) and the Kullback Leibler Divergence (KLD). Uncorrelated components are obtained from the original drilling process signals using the principle component analysis; then, the distribution of components is estimated using the MGGD; afterwards, the KLD is calculated based on a deduced analytic formula; last, the downhole faut is detected by comparing the calculated KLD with the alarm threshold obtained from normal data. The effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method are demonstrated by application to a real drilling process.
