Inspired by the growth of dendritic trees in biological neurons, we introduce spiking neural P systems with budding rules. By applying these rules in a maximally parallel way, a spiking neural P system can exponentially increase the size of its synapse graph in a polynomial number of computation steps. Such a possibility can be exploited to efficiently solve computationally difficult problems in deterministic polynomial time, as it is shown in this paper for the NP-complete decision problem sat. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.

In order to support mobile service of long-distance monitoring and controlling UPS based on Web, a kind of design and implementation solution of embedded UPS (EUPS) system is brought forward in this paper. The design and implementation of system is based on ATmega161 and RTL8019AS with TCP/IP protocol suite for communication. In the EUPS system, an embedded file system is designed and implemented which can store the data and index information on a serial EEPROM chip in structured way and communicate with MCU through I2C bus. By embedding the file system into UPS system or other information appliances, users can browse and manipulate local data on the web client side. Based on our experimental tests, the performance of EUPS can meet the requirements of Web-based mobile services. © 2010 Binary information Press.

We construct new families of multi-error-correcting quantum codes for the amplitude damping channel. Our key observation is that, with proper encoding, two uses of the amplitude damping channel simulate a quantum erasure channel. This allows us to use concatenated codes with quantum erasure-correcting codes as outer codes for correcting multiple amplitude damping errors. Our new codes are degenerate stabilizer codes and have parameters which are better than the amplitude damping codes obtained by any previously known construction.

Risk evaluation is very important to the design and improvement of physical protection systems. In this paper, an evaluation method of multi-source information fusion is proposed based on the D-S evidence theory. In the proposed method, each individual component of the protection system in the simulated plane is modeled. Then, the threat report of each component according to the specific tactics is determined based on its real environment. Finally, the comprehensive threat distribution is obtained based on through the D-S evidence theory to combine multi-sources information. The proposed method can easily applied to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the protection system. We make the total threat of the protection system lowest through changes of the protection resources allocation. A numerical example is used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method. Rough sets,proposed by Pawlak and rough fuzzy sets proposed by Dubois and Prade were expressed with the different computing formulas that were more complex and not conducive to computer operations,In this paper,we use the composition of a fuzzy matrix and fuzzy vectors in a given non-empty finite universal,constitute an algebraic system composed of finite dimensional fuzzy vectors and discuss some properties of the algebraic system about a basis and *** give an effective calculation representation of rough fuzzy sets by the inner and outer products that unify computing of rough sets and rough fuzzy sets with a *** basis of the algebraic system play a key role in this *** give some essential properties of the lower and upper approximation operators generated by reflexive,symmetric,and transitive fuzzy *** reflexive,symmetric,and transitive fuzzy relations are charac terized by the basis of the algebraic system.A set of axioms,as the axiomatic approach,has been constructed to characterize the upper approximation of fuzzy sets on the basis of the algebraic system.

This paper analyzes the calculating method of the link utilization based on SNMP: the mean method, intermediate values calculated method and maximum traffic calculation method, and finally proposed a method based enhanced maximum traffic accumulation. This new method not only can handle overflow problems of polling, but also more accurately calculate the full-duplex network input and output changes. On this basis, the network weather maps can reflect a more real network utilization, and become a more effective tool in network management.

For research on conceptual design of the complex product, it is necessary that a reliable theory is found to decide if the design structure is suit for custom requirement. The correlation matrixes among requirements, functions and structures are proposed. A block diagonal matrix of correlation matrix between functions and structures is given. The mathematical models of multi-object optimization structure design are provided, and then calculated by the hybrid genetic algorithm. An example for solar energy automobile is given to show that this method is able to realize optimization structure design fitting for the requirements. In addition, the approaches can provide good Pareto optimization solutions.

Current system combination methods usually use confusion networks to find consensus translations among different systems. Requiring one-to-one mappings between the words in candidate translations, confusion networks have difficulty in handling more general situations in which several words are connected to another several words. Instead, we propose a lattice-based system combination model that allows for such phrase alignments and uses lattices to encode all candidate translations. Experiments show that our approach achieves significant improvements over the state-of-the-art baseline system on Chinese-to-English translation test sets. © 2009 ACL and AFNLP.

Current statistical machine translation systems usually extract rules from bilingual corpora annotated with 1-best alignments. They are prone to learn noisy rules due to alignment mistakes. We propose a new structure called weighted alignment matrix to encode all possible alignments for a parallel text compactly. The key idea is to assign a probability to each word pair to indicate how well they are aligned. We design new algorithms for extracting phrase pairs from weighted alignment matrices and estimating their probabilities. Our experiments on multiple language pairs show that using weighted matrices achieves consistent improvements over using n-best lists in significant less extraction time. © 2009 ACL and AFNLP.
