Improves on the classical formula of calculating the term weight in the vector space model. Furthermore, an approach to multi-hierarchy text classification based on the vector space model is proposed. In this approach, all classes are organized as a tree according to some given hierarchical relations, and all the training documents in a class are combined into a class-document. In order to construct the class models, only the class-documents attached to the same node of the same layer are compared. When classifying the documents, one matching process is hierarchically performed from the root node to the leaf nodes until a corresponding subclass is found. The experiment and real systems indicate that the approach is of high classification precision and recall.

A clothoid spline is a planar G/sup 2/ curve with piecewise linear curvature. Its discrete analogon, planar discrete clothoid spline (PDCS for short) generated by non-linear subdivision, is also of high quality owing to piecewise linear curvature distribution. We extend the PDCS to 3D by introducing discrete curvature binormal vectors and a discrete Frenet frame. An algorithm similar to the planar case is developed for creation of 3D discrete clothoid splines, Experiments show that 3D discrete clothoid spline still retains high quality. This result makes it possible to construct discrete clothoid spline surfaces on open triangle meshes or curve nets of arbitrary topology.

Agent naming and localization is the key technology in mobile agents. How it is implemented affects the performance of the whole agent system deeply. The paper proposes a method called agent shadow tracing to implement the agent naming and localization, after analyzing three approaches in agent naming and localization. This method treats agents as some source of the host that generates it, and assigns a shadow to the agent so that other agents and programs can communicate with it through the shadow when the agent roams around the network. The paper also discusses the security of AST and its advantages compared with other methods. This method avoids some known disadvantages in existing methods.

Current research about agent organization are mostly being undertaken in an agent organization model, organization structure, organization rules, organization formation and evolution, so it is necessary to extend the research to analyze mental states and their relations.
