On the Cycle Structure of Some Nonlinear Feedback Shift Registers

In this paper, we partly determine the cycle structure of two types of Nonlinear feedback shift registers (NFSRs). Based on these results, the cycle structure of a class of NFSRs with symmetric feedback functions can be completely characterized. Furthermore, an alternative proof of Kjeldsen's results is presented. Compared with the original proof based on abstract algebra theory, ours is straightforward and easy to understand.

Datacenter is a big computing infrastructure that aims to reduce operating costs and energy consumption. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a novel approach of networking that seeks to segregate control plane from data plane in order to reduce the complexity of network resource management. Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is an energy-efficient switching technology that offers flexibility to support datacenter traffic. OBS separates also control and data planes and can be the most compatible optical switching paradigm with SDN. This paper proposes an optical datacenter network architecture based on OBS and aligned with SDN specifications. The results obtained from simulation demonstrate the efficacy of this architecture, achieving zero burst loss, high throughput, and low burst delay.

This review investigates the effectiveness of exploiting the massive Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the diagnosis of prostate cancer histopathological images. It focuses on studying and analyzing the current state and practice for utilizing AI tools, including significant machine learning and deep learning models in the histopathological image analysis process. The preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology was adopted for conducting this systematic review to include recent research articles that have been published since 2017. Leveraging novel deep learning models and advanced imaging techniques, AI demonstrates promising capabilities in improving accuracy and efficiency in detecting and classifying prostate cancer. A comprehensive comparison of existing works has been presented with in-depth discussions around current limitations and key challenges while proposing some future advancements. This study aims to pave the way for future research and further integration of AI into the diagnostic processes toward early detection, personalized treatment strategies, and enhanced patient outcomes in the context of a prostate cancer diagnosis. Community search is the problem of identifying the community in which a given node resides. Different from traditional community search methods based on specific topological structures, this paper proposes a community search algorithm based on containment control of multi-agent system by studying the influence of opinion leaders with competitive relationships in community formation. Firstly, the Breadth-First Search method is used to locally sample the network. Secondly, containment control of multi-agent system is applied to obtain the final state of each node for local community partitioning. Finally, grounded in practical considerations, an effective leadership transfer mechanism is proposed to update the results and enhance search precision. Through experiments on real-world networks and synthetic networks in comparison with three local community detection algorithms, the effectiveness and rationality of our algorithm are demonstrated. © 2024 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Three types of halide-perovskite-based fast-acting fluorescent materials have been demonstrated for high-speed visible light communication. All-inorganic metal-halide perovskite CsPbI3 was utilized to generate red color at 685 nm, and two-dimensional (2D) hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskite nanosheets, (PEA)2PbI4 and (PEA)2PbBr4 (PEA= C8H9NH3), with peak photoluminescence (PL) wavelengths of 525 nm and 408 nm, were respectively used for green- and blue-light emission. The materials were then embedded in the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to improve their durability and flexibility in practical applications. Pumped by a 405-nm violet laser, the red and green phosphors exhibit –3-dB modulation bandwidths of 14 MHz and 193 MHz, respectively. For the blue phosphor, a 124-MHz –3-dB bandwidth was obtained by using a 375-nm UVA laser diode. Benefitting from either the short PL lifetime or high PL quantum yield, aggregate Gb/s data transmission was achieved in the communication link. Direct current biased optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) modulation scheme was implemented with an adaptive quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal. The transmission net data rates of RGB phosphors are 0.51 Gb/s, 0.93 Gb/s, and 0.43 Gb/s, respectively. The corresponding average bit error ratios are 3.5×10-3, 3.6×10-3, and 3.6×10-3, which are below the 7%-overhead forward error correction (FEC) criterion. Taking advantage of the tunability of the halide perovskite materials covering the whole visible range could further fulfill high-speed color-pure wavelength-division multiplexing by using a single source with multiple luminescent materials emitting light at different wavelengths. Besides, combining luminescent materials with specific colors, simultaneous white-light illumination, and high-speed communication can also be realized. © 2023 SPIE.
