The Internet-of-Things (IoT) systems hold immense promise for transforming various aspects of our lives and industries, driving significant societal and economic advancements. This research paper aims to investigate the significance of IoT systems in various domains, focusing specifically on the industrial application, emphasizing the pivotal role of reliable and efficient device connectivity within such systems. To address the challenges posed by uncertainty and ambiguity in real-life scenarios, we proposed the integration of rough set theory with multi-criteria decision-making approaches to evaluate and classify IoT devices in the industrial domain. The utilization of the proposed hybrid multi-criteria group decision-making approach allows us to effectively model and handle the uncertainty arising from expert assessments. This paper emphasized the computation of parameter weights using a chosen weighting technique to facilitate decision-making processes influenced by subjective information. Finally, an example case shows how the framework may be applied. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper explores the Gantry Cranes Scheduling Problem (GCSP), specifically focusing on determining the optimal slot unloading/loading sequences for gantry cranes assigned to containers in a block of stacking. The gantry crane scheduling proposed in this paper, which is mathematically modeled by a mixed integer programming model is proposed. using the terminal operating system used in the port studied provides a new (MILP). Finally, the paper compares the results obtained from the proposed model with those of the terminal port for real instances.

modeling approach using discrete event simulation has been proven to work well in modeling in health care. The aim of our paper is to propose a simulation approach which shows realistic models presenting different possible treatments in different stages of diabetic retinopathy. We have presented three models in order to choose the best treatment for diabetic retinopathy patients. The first model describes the flow of a patient through stages without any medical treatments. It takes 13 years to reach blindness. The second model which includes the laser photocoagulation treatments leads to blindness after 46 years. Then, the third model illustrates the involvement of vitrectomy operation and delays blindness by 23 years. To construct the models, data were taken from experienced doctors and professors of the ophthalmology department in the University hospital Habib Bourguiba and the endocrinology department in the University hospital Hedi Chaker in Sfax, Tunisia. Our objective is to delay reaching the blindness stage as late as possible. Three models were developed, verified and validated through many iterative implementations with ARENA simulation software.

The management of resources is a major problem in maritime logistics due to its impact on the acceleration of handling operations in port terminal. In fact, optimal resources allocation decreases the total stay time of vessels in port and therefore decreasing the operations management cost. This paper investigates two of the most crucial problems in port terminal, which are the berth allocation problem (BAP) and the quay cranes assignment problem (QCAP). A bi-level programming model is formulated where the upper level model deals with the allocation of berths and whose objective is the minimization of the total service time of berthed vessels while the lower level model treats the quay crane assignment problem and whose objective is the maximization of the available number of cranes in port terminal. To test its efficiency, the model is solved based on real instances from a Tunisian port.

Water Resources Management is a major problem nowadays, especially in Tunisia. Since criteria weights play a very significant role in the ranking Multicriteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, the current work is applied to find criteria weight through Interval Rough CODAS method (IR-CODAS) which should rank the alternatives using two measures: the Euclidean and the Taxicab distance, to overcome the subjectivity of the group decision-makers. For that, we aim to develop a mathematical programming model eliciting objective weight parameters of the IR-CODAS method given consideration to the MCDM problems with lack of criteria's relative importance coefficients (weights) under interval rough sets. Thereupon, the applicability of the proposed model is illustrated in a case study to evaluate and select the best water resources management projects in Sfax (Tunisia).

In this paper, we present an Electric Two-Echelon Vehicle Routing Problem (E2EVRP), which is considered as a VRP problem with Two-Echelon Distribution Systems (TEDS). In the first Echelon Distribution System (EDS), a set of conventional vehicles aims to deliver the goods from the depot to the satellites, while the second EDS aims to deliver the goods from the satellites to the customers using Electric Vehicles (EVs). The EV can stop at Charging Station (CS) to charge their battery. To solve the problem, we propose a General version of the Variable Neighborhood Search algorithm (GVNS) on the basis of the use of three different groups of neighborhood structures. This approach is based on Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND) algorithm as the local search, in which a descent method is used as a subroutine to explore the first echelon, second echelon and two-echelon neighborhoods structures sequentially. In fact, the results indicate that the VNS can easily be applied to ameliorate the quality of the solutions.

The supplier selection and order allocation are two key strategic decisions in purchasing problem. The review presented in this paper focuses on the supplier selection problems (SSP) and order allocation from year 2000 to 2017 in which a new structure and classification of the existing research streams and the different MCDM methods and mathematical models used for SSP will be presented. The review was examined in three aspects: the summaries of the existing evidence concerning the problems, the identification of gaps in the current research to help determine where further investigation might be needed and positioning new research activities. © 2019, The Author(s).

We study a multi-objective scheduling problem on two dedicated processors. The aim is to minimize simultaneously the makespan, the total tardiness and the total completion time. This NP-hard problem requires the use of well-adapted methods. For this, we adapted genetic algorithms to multi-objective case. Three methods are presented to solve this problem. The first is aggregative, the second is Pareto and the third is non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). We proposed some adapted lower bounds for each criterion to evaluate the quality of the found results on a large set of instances. Indeed, these bounds also make it possible to determine the dominance of one algorithm over another based on the different results found by each of them. We used two metrics to measure the quality of the Pareto front: the hypervolume indicator (HV) and the number of solutions in the optimal front (ND). The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
