Chua discovered the memristor in 1971, which is considered the fourth fundamental electrical component alongside resistance, capacitance, and inductance. In this work, a general map for constructing discrete memristive maps is combined with the modulo function. The study of the system's dynamic behavior involves the use of various nonlinear techniques such as bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov spectrum diagrams, and phase portraits. The investigation has led to the observation of various intriguing phenomena associated with chaos, including hyperchaotic behavior, periodic and chaotic orbits, the emergence of chaos via period doubling, and the occurrence of crisis phenomena. © 2023 IEEE.

Leon Chua's introduction of the memristor in 1971 sparked a growth in research, yet challenges in nanoscale manufacturing prompted the development of emulators. This paper explores the dynamical behavior of a simple analog circuit that contains a memristor emulator as a non-linear element. More specifically, a second-order active memristive diode bridge with an LC filter is employed, along with a modified circuit of the Vilnius chaotic oscillator. nonlinear techniques, such as bifurcation and continuation diagrams, Lyapunov spectrum diagrams, and phase portraits, were utilized to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the circuit. The findings uncovered a range of captivating phenomena associated with chaos theory, including periodic, quasiperiodic, and chaotic orbits, the mechanism of period doubling route to chaos, coexisting attractors, and crisis phenomena.

Discovered by Chua in 1971, the memristor has established itself as the fourth essential electrical element, in addition to resistor, capacitor, and inductor. With the formalization of discrete memristors, numerous models have been developed. Currently, there is a growing interest in exploring the complex dynamical behaviors that manifest when memristors are integrated into discrete chaotic maps, driven by the practical applications of these systems. In this study, a Cubic map model that incorporates a discrete memristive function is introduced and implemented via a microcontroller for the purpose of realizing a chaotic pseudo-random bit generator. To investigate the dynamic characteristics of the system, a variety of nonlinear tools are employed, including bifurcation diagrams, maximal Lyapunov exponent diagrams, and phase portraits. Significant phenomena associated with chaos were identified, encompassing periodic, chaotic and hyperchaotic attractors, and the emergence of chaos through mechanism of period doubling phenomena and quasiperiodic behavior. © 2024 IEEE.

FSO communications are of great research interest due to their commercially appealing combination of high performance and low-cost operation. However, many degrading effects act on the propagating FSO beam. Among these, this study is limited to the unavoidable influences of three of them, which are the power losses, the Gaussian beam divergence and the pointing errors. Notably, this work elaborates the reversal of the beam divergence action, assuming a focusing lens, which can gather the diverging power to a narrower space. The link's performance is estimated by novel mathematical expression and the derived results are discussed. © 2023 IEEE.

This work introduces a chaos based audio encryption scheme, along with its implementation, which works in real time. Initially, a novel chaotic map is introduced, and using this map a Pseudo-Random Bit generator is defined. The encryption scheme is defined based on the above and utilizes parallel computing to encrypt recorded audio "on the fly", rather than collecting the complete recording and encrypting afterwards, making the method suitable for real-time encryption. The security of the proposed method is evaluated via statistical tests. Finally, an Open-Source implementation of the proposed method using Python is given. © 2023 IEEE.

Augmented and virtual reality, game designing, medicine, medical engineering, and many other fields all revolve around 3D models. This is because 3D models have superior visual information than digital images. However, in recent years the advancements in digital image encryption are more rapid than in 3D model encryption. As such, more study on 3D model encryption is deemed necessary. In this paper, a new 3D model chaos-based encryption scheme is suggested based on a shuffling process on the vertices and faces that compose the 3D object and a modulation on the vertex coordinates. The effectiveness of the proposed encryption technique is then verified through the distribution of occupied position analysis, peak signal to noise ratio, structural similarity index and correlation coefficients. © 2023 IEEE.

Audio fingerprinting was originally developed for music song identification, and over the years has been used for many more cases. With fingerprinting, an equivalent signature of the audio signal is saved in a simple form, so that it can be easily compared with another fingerprint. In this work, an audio fingerprinting algorithm is developed for the recognition of Greek Orthodox hymns. The main difference between music songs and Greek Orthodox hymns is the absence of music instruments, as there is only the chanter's voice. The test dataset consists of 10 hymns, and for each hymn there are 5 different performances, creating a dataset of 50 performances. Several tunable parameters of the fingerprinting technique are tested, like the parameters of the Hamming window, the frequency spectrum, the sample duration, and the sample noise, to find the differences in Greek Orthodox hymns. The recognition results for all cases are positive. The algorithm, in most cases, had a high recognition rate. even with noisy samples. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent major advances in semiconductor and ultraviolet (UV) light devices have paved the way for the establishment of non-line of sight (NLOS) optical wireless communication (OWC) links which operate within the so-called solar blind (UV-C) spectral band in the range of 200nm-280nm. Considering that the propagating information-bearing UV light primarily addresses scattering and atmospheric turbulence-induced scintillations, here we evaluate the average bit error rate (ABER) performance of typical NLOS UV-C link configurations over strong turbulent channels along with path loss due to strong scattering. In this respect, we adopt the well-known single scattering model, while we introduce K distribution model as an accurate alternative to model strong turbulence-induced signal scintillations in the UV-C regime. Additionally, the time diversity method is used in the UV communication area to considerably enhance the investigated ABER availability. Under these circumstances novel ABER expressions are derived. Their corresponding results that illustrate various link configurations are further validated by Monte Carlo simulations and highlight therefore the accuracy of our proposed analysis and suggestions. © 2023 IEEE.
