This brief deals with the problem of master-slave synchronization for chaotic Lur'e systems with aperiodic sampled data. Specifically, a novel aperiodic adaptive event-triggered communication mechanism is introduced to reduce the transmission load, which covers the previous ones as special cases. By partially resorting to the time-dependent Lyapunov function, a new synchronization criterion is derived, which depends on both the upper and lower bounds of variable sampling interval. Finally, Chua's circuit system is chosen as an illustrative example to show the virtue and effectiveness of the achieved synchronization strategies.

Cracking furnace is the core device for ethylene production. In practice, multiple ethylene furnaces are usually run in parallel. The scheduling of the entire cracking furnace system has great significance when multiple feeds are simultaneously processed in multiple cracking furnaces with the changing of operating cost and yield of product. In this paper, given the requirements of both profit and energy saving in actual production process, a multi-objective optimization model contains two objectives, maximizing the average benefits and minimizing the average coking amount was proposed. The model can be abstracted as a multi-objective mixed integer non- linear programming problem. Considering the mixed integer decision variables of this multi-objective problem, an improved hybrid encoding non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm with mixed discrete variables (MDNSGA-II) is used to solve the Pareto optimal front of this model, the algorithm adopted crossover and muta- tion strategy with multi-operators, which overcomes the deficiency that normal genetic algorithm cannot handle the optimization problem with mixed variables. Finally, using an ethylene plant with multiple cracking furnaces as an example to illustrate the effectiveness of the scheduling results by comparing the optimization results of multi-objective and single objective model.

This study expands the U-model based control(U-control in short) concept and formulation, a universal model-independent framework for designing control systems, into Volterra series modelled nonlinear systems. With this framework, various Volterra series control schemes can be universally achieved with relative concise/general formulation. In techniques, this study takes U-model structure to realise U-Volterra series model conversion for model inversion and designs the invariant linear stable controller in a feedback loop to lay a basis for specifying system transient and steady state performances. Heuristically, a bench test example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the design procedure, as well as the routines in applications.

The H ∞ output tracking control problem of the networked control systems (NCSs) under an adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme is investigated in this paper. Firstly, a novel adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme developed in the NCSs with stochastic sensor faults is proposed to choose the necessary packets of sampled data to be transmitted through the networks. Then, the considered system is described as a time-delay system with a delay-distribution for investigation. Based on the established model, a novel stability criterion and the state-feedback controller design with a desired performance of H ∞ output tracking control for the systems are both derived by using Lyapunov functional. An algorithm is also presented to explain the process of adaptively adjusted event-triggered scheme method. Finally, a satellite tracking case is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The Ethylene cracking is highly nonlinear, complex process with many constraints because of the complex running state of cracking furnace groups. For the solutions to multi-objective problems of yield, cost and benefits, this paper puts forward a biogeography-based multi-objective optimization algorithm with hybrid migration(BBMOHM). The hybrid migration strategy combines the self-adaptive migration with the simplex operator and the replication migration, which strengthens the convergence and the search ability, to avoid falling into local optimum. For the goal of utilizing the dominance information between individuals, this algorithm adopts the migration model of dominance degree to assist migration strategies improving the performance of the algorithm. Finally, experiments about the ZDT test function and the multi-objective optimization problem of the ethylene cracking process is verified the BBMOHM achieves good performance on convergence and distribution.

Debutanizer is a distillation column used on LPG fractionation unit to separate butane and naphtha compound. Butane will be sold as LPG, while naphtha is used to add the octane rating in gasoline. The distillation column consumes large amounts of energy. Fifty percent of industrial energy need were used for cooling and heating of distillation column, caused production cost were high. Plant Wide control (PWC) needs to integrate the control of process and optimization the costs of process or economic. Plant wide control is a method that can be used to determine good control strategy for debutanizer column. The purpose of plant wide control is to simplify connection between all the operated unit for safety requirement and increase output response. Prices of materials used include the energy prices. PWC managed to optimize the composition according to the specified values that are 0.4639 for the XD composition and 0.001 for the XB composition. When the flow rate of feed increase, the energy used is 3.5 GJ/h and able to save on operating costs of 0.37 USD/h, when the flow rate of feed is decrease, the energy used is 2.9 GJ/h and able to save on operating costs of 0.78 USD/h.

This paper focuses on the problem of adaptive output feedback tracking control for a class of nonstrict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown control coefficients and quantized input. The difficulty from the unknown control direction is solved by using the linear state transformation and the Nussbaum gain function(NGF) approach. Based on the combination of input-driven observer, backstepping technique, neural network(NN) parametrization and variable separation method, a novel adaptive output feedback quantized control scheme involving only one adaptive parameter is developed for such systems. The designed quantized controller ensures that all signals of closed-loop systems are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded(SGUUB), and the tracking error converges to an adjustable neighborhood of the origin. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controldesign.
