Real-time object detection has been a critical component of onboard instrumentation for next-generation autonomous driving. To enable safety and reliability in autonomous driving systems, we must continue advancing its real-time object detection accuracy for future autonomous driving systems in complex environments. Existing works in real-time object detection cannot accurately detect objects with similar appearances and in complex environments. In particular, existing approaches missed many essential features because of the loss of multi-scale contextual features. Therefore, they cannot differentiate objects that have a similar appearance, a low-resolution, and a small size. To solve these issues, and to advance real-time object detection accuracy, we develop GFENet (Global Feature Enhancement Network), an end-to-end real-time object detection framework. First, we introduce a convolutional attention module that integrates spatial and channel-wise features and eliminates ineffective features to enable a strong feature representation of the network, followed by a lightweight residual module that further advances the feature representation by highlighting salient changes in features. Second, we build an adaptive feature fusion module to adaptively learn weights of multi-scale contextual features across layers, aiming to strengthen weights for small-size objects. We comprehensively evaluate GFENet on two leading object detection datasets-PASCAL VOC and MS COCO. The evaluation results (mAP of 82.9 and FPS of 31 on PASCAL VOC;mAP of 39.0 and FPS of 23 on MS COCO) show the outperformance of GFENet compared to competing baseline methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Mem Brain: An Easy-to-Use Online Webserver for Transmembrane Protein Structure Prediction

Membrane proteins are an important kind of proteins embedded in the membranes of cells and play crucial roles in living organisms, such as ion channels,transporters, receptors. Because it is difficult to determinate the membrane protein's structure by wet-lab experiments,accurate and fast amino acid sequence-based computational methods are highly desired. In this paper, we report an online prediction tool called Mem Brain, whose input is the amino acid sequence. Mem Brain consists of specialized modules for predicting transmembrane helices, residue–residue contacts and relative accessible surface area of a-helical membrane proteins. Mem Brain achieves aprediction accuracy of 97.9% of ATMH, 87.1% of AP,3.2 ± 3.0 of N-score, 3.1 ± 2.8 of C-score. Mem BrainContact obtains 62%/64.1% prediction accuracy on training and independent dataset on top L/5 contact prediction,respectively. And Mem Brain-Rasa achieves Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.733 and its mean absolute error of13.593. Contour extraction model introducing contrast adaptive characteristics based on visual pathway

Effectively extracting image subject contours holds significant importance for subsequent image processing tasks. Recognizing the pivotal role of contrast features in contour characterization, this paper proposes a novel contour extraction model with contrast adaptive characteristics, inspired by visual perception simulation visual pathways. Firstly, leveraging the color antagonism traits of retinal ganglion cells, we construct a color image contrast calculation model to enhance the representation of visual information contrast. Furthermore, drawing upon the feed-forward impact of the retina on Lateral Geniculate Nucleus (LGN) cells, we introduce a contrast gain control mechanism to extract multi-directional primary contour responses. Secondly, employing the LIF neuron network to simulate the lateral geniculate body's information flow processing mechanism, we encode visual information via pulse firing to eliminate redundant contour details. Then, by considering the primary visual cortex (V1) cell's receptive field size variation with contrast, we devise a contrast-adaptive dynamic receptive field model. Additionally, we develop a texture suppression model based on the orientation/contrast disparity between the receptive field model's center and periphery. Finally, integrating the primary contour response and the image obtained through the inhibition model, we fuse features to derive the final image subject target contour. This study employs the BSDS500 dataset and the RuG40 dataset for experimentation. Comparative analysis against mainstream methods demonstrates our approach's superior ability to retain the main image outline while suppressing non-edge textures, with P-value indicators for contour detection of 0.58 and 0.50, respectively. Furthermore, visual analysis using box and whisker plots confirms the robustness of our proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this paper, we take the advantages of color contrast and color distribution to get high quality saliency maps. The overall procedure flow of our unified framework contains superpixel pre-segmentation, color contrast and color distribution computation, combination, final refinement and then object segmentation. During color contrast saliency computation, we combine two color systems and then introduce the using of distribution prior before saliency smoothing. It works to select correct color components. In addition, we propose a novel saliency smoothing procedure that is based on superpixel regions and is realized in color space. This processing step leads to total object being highlighted evenly, contributing to high quality color contrast saliency maps. Finally, a new refinement approach is utilized to eliminate artifacts and recover unconnected parts in the combined saliency maps. In visual comparison, our method produces higher quality saliency maps which stress out the total object meanwhile suppress background clutters. Both qualitative and quantitative experiments show our approach outperforms 8 state-of-the-art methods, achieving the highest precision rate 96% (3% improvement from the current highest), when evaluated via one of the most popular data sets [1]. Excellent content-aware image resizing also can be achieved with our saliency maps. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Constructing the pyramidal architecture for the feature is currently a very effective way to obtain feature information of objects at different scales. Although the feature pyramid can realize the recognition and detection of multi-scale objects in the object detection task well, it still has some limitations. Since the feature information of different levels is often not from the same layer of the network, it is difficult to obtain the feature of different objects information at a certain scale from a certain level feature map of the pyramid network. To solve this problem, we present a novel object detection architecture, named Enhanced Multi-scale Feature Fusion Pyramid Network (EMFFPNet). Our network consists of Enhanced Multi-scale Feature Fusion Module (EMFFM) and Predictor Optimization Module (POM). In EMFFM, Features at different levels can be fused into the Enhanced features as outputs, which are more representative and deterministic. In order to enable the enhanced features to play their respective roles in the pyramid network, we assign different weights to fusion features of different levels in POM. We perform the experiments on the COCO detection benchmark. The experimental results indicate that the performance of our model is much better than the state-of-the-art model. © 2021 IEEE.

The PnP problem is a widely used technique for pose determination in computer vision community,and finding out geometric conditions of multiple solutions is the ultimate and most desirable goal of the multi-solution analysis,which is also a key research issue of the *** this paper,we prove that given 3 control points,if the camera's optical center lies on the so-called“danger cylinder”and is enough far from the supporting plane of control points,the corresponding P3P problem must have 3 positive *** result can bring some new insights into a better understanding of the multi-solution *** example,it is shown in the literature that the solution of the P3P problem is instable if the optical center lies on this danger cylinder,we think such occurrence of triple-solution is the primary source of this instability.

Recently, deep convolutional learning has been applied to image deblurring, which greatly improves the performance of single-image blind deblurring algorithms. However, most deep image deblurring models based on convolutional neural networks do not make full use of the information of low-level spatial convolutions, so they achieve relatively poor performance. In this paper, we improved the generator of the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) and proposed dense networks and residual networks to solve this problem in image deblurring. The network makes full use of the hierarchical features of all convolutional layers. Specifically, we extract the local features of the convolutional layer through the proposed densely connected convolutional layer. Moreover, the dense connections of the residual dense network can connect all layers from the previous state to the current state. Then using local jump connection and feature fusion, it can adaptively learn more effective features from the previous and current local features, making the trained network more extensive. After fully obtaining the dense local features, the global residual connection is used to learn the global feature information in an overall manner. Experimental comparison and verification have proved the effectiveness of our method and achieved excellent results both quantitatively and qualitatively. © 2021 IEEE.

Sparse representation classification (SRC) is a new framework for classification and has been successfully applied to face recognition. However, SRC can not well classify the data when they are in the overlap feature space. In addition, SRC treats different samples equally and ignores the cooperation among samples belong to the same class. In this paper, a kernel based weighted group sparse classifier (KWGSC) is proposed. Kernel trick is not only used for mapping the original feature space into a high dimensional feature space, but also as a measure to select members of each group. The weight reflects the importance degree of training samples in different group. Substantial experiments on benchmark databases have been conducted to investigate the performance of proposed method in image classification. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed KWGSC approach has a higher classification accuracy than that of SRC and other modified sparse representation classification. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

The aim of quantum secret sharing,as one of most promising components of quantum cryptograph,is one-tomultiparty secret communication based on the principles of quantum *** this paper,an efficient multiparty quantum secret sharing protocol in a high-dimensional quantum system using a single qudit is *** participant's shadow is encoded on a single qudit via a measuring basis encryption method,which avoids the waste of qudits caused by basis *** analysis indicates that the proposed protocol is immune to general attacks,such as the measure-resend attack,entangle-and-measure attack and Trojan horse *** to former protocols,the proposed protocol only needs to perform the single-qudit measurement operation,and can share the predetermined dits instead of random bits or dits.

Point matching is an important component of image *** years,Coherent Point Drift(CPD) method becomes a very popular point matching *** treats point matching as a probability estimation problem and speeds up the process of matching a *** this method,one set of points are thought to be sampled from a Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM),which is centered by the other set of ***,CPD is sensitive to outliers and noises,especially when the noise ratio increased or the number of outliers gets much *** deal with this problem,we introduce shape context into the step of searching for matching points and then improve the form of prior probabilities of GMM in this *** main idea of our method is that if the most points in a data set are likely to be matched to a particular centroid,this Gaussian component should be have a more influence to ***,we set prior probability of GMM with the similarity between GMM components and the data *** the computation of similarity is based on shape *** experiments on 2D and 3D images show that when noise ratio is low,our method performs as well as CPD does,but as the ratio increased,our method is more robust and satisfactory than CPD.
