A Self-organizing map neural network combining with classification output layers network was proposed for classifying plantar pressure dataset, which was acquired from foot 3D scan system after features extraction. The single SOM with 10, 15, 20, 30 hidden layers was compared and validated. Subsequently, the classification modeling with SOM combining multiple hidden neural networks was proposed, and results showed that the proposed model performs high effectiveness in plantar pressure dataset and has potential applications on comfort design through last customization. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper investigates stealthy attacks on sampled-data control systems, where a continuous process is sampled periodically, and the resultant discrete output and control signals are transmitted through dual channels in wireless communication networks. Acknowledging the vulnerability of these transmitted data to cyber threats, we analyze two types of stealthy attacks that compromise either one or both channels. We explicitly present the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of stealthy single-channel attacks. To mitigate these security risks, we implement encryption-based countermeasures, including linear time-invariant and periodic encryption methods. We detail sufficient conditions under which these encryption strategies effectively thwart single- and dual-channel stealthy attacks. The effectiveness of these approaches and the theoretical findings are demonstrated through numerical simulations. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Existence and Completeness of Bounded Disturbance Observers: A Set-Membership Viewpoint

This paper investigates the boundedness of the Disturbance Observer (DO) for linear discrete-time systems. In contrast to previous studies that focus on analyzing and/or designing observer gains, our analysis and synthesis approach is based on a set-membership viewpoint. From this viewpoint, a necessary and sufficient existence condition of bounded DOs is first established, which can be easily verified. Furthermore, a set-membership filter-based DO is developed, and its completeness is proved;thus, our proposed DO is bounded if and only if bounded DOs exist. We also prove that the proposed DO has the capability to achieve the worst-case optimality, which can provide a benchmark for the design of DOs. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to corroborate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Background: Chronic gastritis (CG) significantly impacts patients' quality of life and can progress to more severe gastric conditions. In China, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been widely applied for its holistic efficacy in treating chronic superficial gastritis (CSG), including formulas like Jinhong Tablets (JHT), known for their anti-inflammatory effects. However, the mechanism of action of JHT in treating CSG still require further clarification. Purpose: This study aimed to elucidate the mechanism by which JHT alleviates CSG, integrating network pharmacology, untargeted metabolomics, and gut microbiota analyses. Methods: The CSG rat model was established, and treatment effects were assessed via Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Target profiles of JHT’s components and holistic targets of JHT were obtained. Enrichment analyses were performed on holistic targets and a multi-layer biomolecular network of JHT was established. The study also analyzed rat plasma for differential metabolites through untargeted metabolomics and evaluated the diversity and composition of gut microbiota in fecal and cecal contents samples using 16S rRNA sequencing. Results: JHT effectively reduced gastric inflammation in CSG rats. Network pharmacology indicated that diverse metabolic processes including lipid metabolism and nitric oxide metabolism play pivotal roles in the therapeutic effects of JHT on CSG. Metabolomics analysis identified differential metabolites including betaine helping enrich gut microbiota, phospholipids and citrulline indicating the severity of CSG. The pathway enrichment of differential metabolites validated the results of network pharmacology and suggested that the mechanism of action was associated with the gut microbiota. Through gut microbiota analyses, it was discovered that JHT could augment the gut microbiota by enhancing the abundance of betaine. This article presents a coupled dynamic integral sliding mode control (DISMC) strategy for a vehicle platoon that consists of a leader and multiple followers subjected to external unknown disturbance. This strategy is designed based on a integral sliding mode control (ISMC) with coupled sliding surface (CSS) under constant time headway (CTH) and bidirectional (BD) information flow topology, so it can alleviate the chattering caused by the control input with sign function. Then, the DISMC is designed to eliminate the chattering problem of the traditional coupled ISMC. In addition, the vehicle stability and the string stability is analyzed strictly. Finally, the numerical simulations are shown to verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed strategy.

Constructive Incremental Learning for Fault Diagnosis of Rolling Bearings with Ensemble Domain Adaptation

Given the prevalence of rolling bearing fault diagnosis as a practical issue across various working conditions, the limited availability of samples compounds the challenge. Additionally, the complexity of the external environment and the structure of rolling bearings often manifests faults characterized by randomness and fuzziness, hindering the effective extraction of fault characteristics and restricting the accuracy of fault diagnosis. To overcome these problems, this paper presents a novel approach termed constructive Incremental learning-based ensemble domain adaptation (CIL-EDA) approach. Specifically, it is implemented on stochastic configuration networks (SCN) to constructively improve its adaptive performance in multi-domains. Concretely, a cloud feature extraction method is employed in conjunction with wavelet packet decomposition (WPD) to capture the uncertainty of fault information from multiple resolution aspects. Subsequently, constructive Incremental learning-based domain adaptation (CIL-DA) is firstly developed to enhance the cross-domain learning capability of each hidden node through domain matching and construct a robust fault classifier by leveraging limited labeled data from both target and source domains. Finally, fault diagnosis results are obtained by a majority voting of CIL-EDA which integrates CIL-DA and parallel ensemble learning. Experimental results demonstrate that our CIL-DA outperforms several domain adaptation methods and CIL-EDA consistently outperforms state-of-art fault diagnosis methods in few-shot scenarios. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

This paper investigates a transfer learning filtering algorithm based on the t-distribution to address the problem of state estimation in asynchronous multi-rate sensor systems affected by outliers. By integrating full probability design and multi-scale system theory, we propose a novel transfer learning framework for asynchronous multi-rate systems. A multi-scale model is established to convert the asynchronous multi-rate system into a synchronous one. This design minimizes the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the predicted distribution in the source domain and the ideal distribution in the target domain, while allowing the sensor sampling rate ratio to be any positive integer. To account for outlier effects on state estimation, the source and target domains leverage the heavy-tailed properties of the t-distribution to model state and observation processes, with approximate estimation achieved through expectation-maximization and variational Bayesian methods. Simulation results on a planar position-velocity system demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method. © 2025 South China University of Technology. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a cardiac MRI image segmentation model based on an improved U-Net architecture. Accurate segmentation of cardiac MRI images is critical for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, yet existing U-Net models exhibit limitations in handling complex cardiac structures and multi-scale features. To address these challenges, this paper proposes two key enhancements. First, we propose a Multi-Dimensional Context Attention module, designed to improve the integration of global and local information within the skip connections, thereby enhancing segmentation accuracy for intricate cardiac structures. Furthermore, we propose a Reverse Feature Modulation module, which generates reverse masks and dynamically adjusts feature weights across different classes using adaptive weighting, effectively mitigating class imbalance issues in multi-class segmentation tasks and improving focus on difficult-to-segment regions. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the standard U-Net on the ACDC dataset, achieving significant improvements in evaluation metrics such as the Dice coefficient. These enhancements underscore the model's efficacy and robustness in complex cardiac image segmentation tasks, offering new technical support for automated cardiovascular disease diagnosis.

Blind source separation under an underdetermined reverberation environment is a very challenging issue. The classical method is based on the expectation maximization algorithm. However, it is limited to high reverberation environments, resulting in bad or even invalid separation performance. To eliminate this restriction, a room impulse response reshaping-based expectation maximization method is designed to solve the problem of blind signal separation in an underdetermined reverberant environment. Firstly, a room impulse response reshaping technology is designed to eliminate the influence of audible echo on the reverberant environment, improving the quality of the received signals. Then, a new mathematical model of time-frequency mixing signals is established to reduce the approximation error of model transformation caused by high reverberation. Furthermore, an improved expectation maximization method is proposed for real-time update learning rules of model parameters, and then the sources are separated using the estimators provided by the improved expectation maximization method. Experimental results based on source separation of speech and music mixtures demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves better separation performance while maintaining much better robustness than popular expectation maximization methods. © 2024, The Authors.
