The operating performance assessment of plant-wide processes is very important for improving product quality and comprehensive economic *** this study,a new operating performance assessment method based on hierarchical multiblock performance-relevant kernel independent component analysis(HMPRKICA) is proposed for nonlinear and non-Gaussian plant-wide *** proposed approach divides the process variables into several sub-processes according to the physical structure and incorporates sub-process information into high level for operating performance assessment of plant-wide *** the new method,the difficulty of process analysis is reduced and the interpretability of the assessment results are *** process operating performance is nonoptimal,the responsible sub-process is first located by the sub-process assessment result,and then the variable contribution rates are calculated in the corresponding sub-process to narrow the search for the nonoptimal ***,a case study of gold hydrometallurgy process evaluates the efficiency of the proposed method.

With the proliferation of IoT devices, there is an escalating demand for enhanced computing and communication capabilities. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) addresses this need by relocating computing resources to the network edge, thereby delivering swifter and more efficient services. This paper introduces a computation offloading and energy consumption optimization framework that leverages Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and MEC. The scheme aims to maximize energy efficiency through the optimization of task allocation, RIS phase shifts, and UAV trajectories. By employing the Multi-Agent Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MATD3) reinforcement learning algorithm, the paper further refines UAV trajectories and RIS configurations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method surpasses the traditional Concave-Convex Procedure (CCCP) algorithm in both UAV trajectory control and RIS configuration, demonstrating quicker convergence and enhanced stability. The method proves to be adaptable to diverse environments and tasks, showcasing notable benefits in RIS-assisted interference suppression, particularly with large RIS, thereby enhancing UAV data reception rates. Additionally, MATD3 exhibits faster and smoother convergence for extended task durations and smaller RIS scenarios. Simulation results reveal that UAVs tend to move closer to RIS, with energy efficiency falling as IoT tasks increase, affirming the proposed algorithm's high energy efficiency and effectiveness. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper investigates the fully distributed fuzzy secure consensus control problem for stochastic nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs). A polynomial fuzzy model is applied to reconstruct the system dynamics for a class of nonlinear MASs described by the Itoˆ differential equation. The asynchronous denial-of-service (DoS) attack is considered that occurs independently across communication channels between the agents. Then, a novel fuzzy secure control protocol is developed to achieve the consensus task and resist the effect of the DoS attack. Meanwhile, the control protocol is fully distributed without relying on the global information of the Laplace matrix, and its adaptive parameter is membership-function-dependent, which is more flexible. Then, a non-parallel distributed compensation method is used to deal with the mismatch problem of the membership function between the fuzzy control protocol and the fuzzy system. In addition, several mean-square bounded convergence criteria in the form of the sum-of-squares for the secure tracking error are obtained by constructing the piecewise Lyapunov functions. Finally, the feasibility of the theoretical results is verified by the simulation example and the comparative analysis. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

In order to extract the size and distribution of discrete phases in oil-gas-water three-phase flow, a method that combines an ultrasonic array sensor with plane wave scanning is proposed and studied through numerical simulation. A frequency-domain simulation model is established. The size of the transmitting aperture that can generate plane wave is optimized from four elements to eight elements. Under the action of an ultrasonic plane wave, the curves that could express the relationship between the ultrasound attenuation coefficient（UAC） and the receiving element position of the oil bubble and gas bubble are plotted. We found that these curves have their own inherent variation rules. With transmitting aperture position shift, the UAC curve trend of the gas bubble changes significantly, but the UAC curve trend of the oil bubble has little change. The difference of oil bubble diameter will cause the UAC curve shape of the three-phase flow consistent with the curve shape of oil-water two-phase flow or gas-water two-phase flow. The relationship about the curves of the receiving element position between the variation of UAC could distinguish the spacing between the oil bubble and gas bubble. The transmitting/receiving aperture size for the three-phase flow measurement is selected as four elements/four elements or five elements/five elements, and the excitation-measurement mode is determined. This research lays a foundation for improving the accuracy of image reconstruction in the ultrasound process tomography for multiphase flow.

In this paper we focus on the sensor scheduling for dynamic state estimation among multiple processes. Multiple sensors transmit their measurements to the remote estimator via a shared wireless channel. Only a subset of sensors are allowed to transmit at each time. The objective of the scheduler is to maximize a linear combination of the terminal time estimation error covariances in a log-determinant sense. We develop conditions under which the objective is monotone and submodular. A submodularity-based greedy scheduling algorithm is proposed, and its performance bound is provided. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the theoretical findings.

The data-driven attack detection and resilient control problems for heterogeneous nonlinear nonaffine multi-agent systems (MASs) in the presence of false data injection (FDI) attacks are investigated in this paper. The heterogeneous nonlinear nonaffine MASs are firstly translated to an equivalent linear data model by using the dynamic linearization method. Then, based on the obtained linear data model, a novel attack detector, by using the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous input neural network (NARXNN), is designed to detect whether MASs are under FDI attacks. Further, a data-driven resilient switched control scheme with the attack compensation mechanism is designed to achieve the leaderless consensus control objective. Finally, a simulation is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method by comparisons. © 2013 IEEE.

Since the earliest conceptualizations by Lee and Markus, and Propoi in the 1960s, Model Predictive control (MPC) has become a major success story of systems and control with respect to industrial impact and with respect to continued and wide-spread research interest. The field has evolved from conceptually simple linear-quadratic (convex) settings in discrete and continuous time to nonlinear and distributed settings including hybrid, stochastic, and infinite-dimensional systems. Put differently, essentially the entire spectrum of dynamic systems can be considered in the MPC framework with respect to both—system theoretic analysis and tailored numerics. Moreover, recent developments in machine learning also leverage MPC concepts and learning-based and data-driven MPC have become highly active research areas. However, this evident and continued success renders it increasingly complex to live up to industrial expectations while enabling graduate students for state-of-the-art research in teaching MPC. Hence, this position paper attempts to trigger a discussion on teaching MPC. To lay the basis for a fruitful debate, we subsequently investigate the prospect of covering MPC in undergraduate courses; we comment on teaching textbooks; and we discuss the increasing complexity of research-oriented graduate teaching of MPC.

Conventional mock circulatory loops (MCLs) cannot replicate realistic hemodynamic conditions without inducing blood trauma. This constrains in-vitro hemocompatibility examinations of blood pumps to static operating conditions that do not reflect clinical scenarios. This study aimed at developing an atraumatic MCL based on a hardware-in-the-loop concept (H-MCL) that enables hemocompatibility assessment under realistic hemodynamic conditions. The atraumatic H-MCL was designed for 450±50 ml of blood with the sole blood-contacting components being the polycarbonate reservoirs, the silicone/polyvinyl-chloride tubing and the blood pump under investigation. To account for inherent coupling effects a decoupling pressure control was derived by feedback linearization, whereas the level control was addressed by an optimization task to overcome periodic loss of controllability. The HeartMate 3 was showcased to evaluate the H-MCL’s accuracy at typical hemodynamic conditions and to demonstrate the H-MCL’s atraumatic properties. Pilot hemolysis experiments were conducted with bovine (n=2) and human (n=2) blood, and evaluated in terms of the normalized index of hemolysis (NIH). Typical hemodynamic scenarios of patients with full and partial support were replicated with marginal coupling effects and root mean square error (RMSE) of 1.74±1.37 mmHg and 0.94±0.83 mmHg, respectively, while the fluid level did not exceed a range of ±4% of its target value. The initial examinations of hemolysis demonstrated the atraumatic characteristics of the novel H-MCL, as evidenced by levels of NIH (bovine: 5.1-7.2mg/100L;human: 1.6-1.8mg/100L) that are consistent with those reported in existing literature. Collectively, these findings indicated the H-MCL’s potential for in-vitro hemocompatibiltiy assessment of blood pumps within realistic hemodynamic conditions. © 2023, CC BY.

This paper investigates the platooning problem of vehicles modeled by double integrators,where the time delay is taken into consideration.A novel difference-compensated consensus protocol is proposed by treating the platooning problem as the consensus *** internal stability and string stability are analyzed respectively by using the frequency-domain method,and the sufficient conditions for the asymptotic consensus convergence are *** theoretical analysis,we find that the internal stability of the platooning has no relationship with the time delay,but the string stability is affected by the time ***,numerical simulation results are carried out to show the effectiveness and performance of the proposed consensus strategy.
