Subpixel-based Bidirectional Distortion Correction for Two-dimensional Astronomical Fiber Spectral Images

This paper proposes a subpixel transformation method to correct Keystone and Smile distortions in fiber spectral images from the Fiber Arrayed Solar Optical Telescope. These distortions affect the spatial and spectral positions,degrading resolution and accuracy. To correct Keystone distortion, we use a local summation and peak-finding method to locate central horizontal coordinates, calculate shifting values, and straighten the curves. For Smile distortion, we use quartic polynomial fitting based on absorption lines at different wavelengths. This technique preserves subpixel components, redistributes pixel values, and interpolates non-fiber portions, rectifying the spectra for accurate analysis. The method can also be applied to other astronomical projects like Large Sky Area MultiObject Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of spectral data in various astronomical studies.

Hospital laundry practices and nosocomial infection risk in a Moroccan public hospital: critical views and suggestions for improvement

This study investigates the role of linen from laundry washing and Intensive Care Units in spreading infections at a Public Hospital in North Morocco. Microbiological analyses revealed 100% contamination of linens with a concerning presence of bacteria like Enterobacterales (30%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (21.11%), and Acinetobacter baumannii (13.3%). Most isolated bacteria show significant resistance. For all Gram-negative bacteria, ceftazidime resistance exceeded 48%, and Enterobacterales exhibited the lowest carbapenem resistance rate (14.8%). No methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was isolated. Interestingly, germ prevalence showed no significant difference between laundry and ICU settings (p = 0.68), and a solid positive correlation suggests potential cross-contamination. The FMECA analysis revealed critical deficiencies in the laundry process, including staff training and segregation of dirty from clean laundry. The PESTEL analysis highlighted the need for laundry equipment and stringent hospital linen management to ensure patient safety. This study reveals linens as potential pathogen reservoirs and highlights laundry process deficiencies. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Study of a Hydraulic Jump in an Asymmetric Trapezoidal Channel with Different Sluice Gates

In this study,the main properties of the hydraulic jump in an asymmetric trapezoidal flume are analyzed experimentally,including the so-called sequent depths,characteristic lengths,and *** particular,an asymmetric trapezoidal flume with a length of 7 m and a width of 0.304 m is considered,with the bottom of the flume transversely inclined at an angle of m=0.296 and vertical lateral *** corresponding inflow Froude number is allowed to range in the interval(1.405,the hydraulic jump is found to be more effective than that occurring in triangular and symmetric trapezoidal ***,when■mes>8 and■>5,the hydraulic jump in the asymmetrical trapezoidal channel downstream of a parallelogram sluice gate is completely formed as opposed to the situation where a triangular sluice is considered.

Improving irrigation water management is a key concern for the agricultural sector,and it requires extensive and comprehensive tools that provide a complete knowledge of crop water use and *** study presents a novel methodology to explicitly estimate daily gross and net crop water requirements,actual crop water use,and irrigation efficiency ofcenter pivot irrigation systems,by mainly utilizing the Sentinel-2 MultiSpectral Instrument(MSI)imagery at the farm *** model is adapted to estimate actual water use(as the sum of canopy transpiration and evaporation of water intercepted by canopy and evaporation from soil)at daily/10-m resolution,benefiting from the high-resolution Sentinel-2 data and thus to assess the irrigation efficiency at the farm *** gross irrigation water requirement is estimated from the net crop water requirement and the water loss,including the water droplet evaporation directly into the air during application before droplets fall on the canopy and canopy interception *** method was applied to a pilot farmland with two major crops(wheat and potato)in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China,where modern equipment and appropriate irrigation methods are deployed for efficient water *** estimated actual crop water use showed good agreement with the ground observations,*** determination coefficients range from 0.67 to 0.81 and root mean square errors range from 0.56mm/day to 1.24mm/day for wheat and potato when comparing the estimated evapo-transpiration with the measurement by the eddy covariance *** also showed that the losses of total irrigated volume were 25.4％for wheat and 23.7％for potato,respectively,and found that the water allocation was insufficient to meet the water requirement in this irrigated *** suggests that the amount of water applied was insufficient to meet the crop water requirement and the inherent water losses in the center pivot irrigation system,which imply the necessit

Rivers provide key ecosystem services that are inherently engineered and optimized to meet the strategic and economic needs of countries around the ***,limited water quality records of a full river continuum hindered the understanding of how river systems response to the multiple stressors acting on *** study highlights the use of Sentinel-2 Multi-Spectral Imager(MSI)data to monitor changes in water color in two optically complex river systems:the Yangtze and Danube using the Forel-Ule Index(FUI).FUI divides water color into 21 classes from dark blue to yellowish brown stemming from the historical Forel-Ule water color scale and has been promoted as a useful indicator showing water turbidity variations in water *** results revealed contrasting water color patterns in the two rivers on both spatial and seasonal ***,the FUI of the Yangtze River gradually increased from the upper reaches to the lower reaches,while the FUI of the Danube River declined in the lower reaches,which is possibly due to the sediment sink effect of the Iron Gate *** regional FUI peaks and valleys observed in the two river systems have also been shown to be related to the dams and hydropower stations along ***,the variations of FUI in both systems can be attributed to climate seasonality,especially precipitation in the basin and the water ***,land cover within the river basin was possibly a significant determinant of water color,as higher levels of vegetation in the Danube basin were associated with lower FUI values,whereas higher FUI values and lower levels of vegetation were observed in the Yangtze *** study furthers our knowledge of using Sentinel-2 MSI to monitor and understand the spatial-temporal variations of river systems and highlights the capabilities of the FUI in an optically complex environment.

Exploring the phase transition of high entropy alloys(HEAs)with multiple major elements is of great importance for understanding the underlying physical *** martensitic phase tran-sition has been frequently reported in HEAs,however,nanoscale microstructural phase evolution has not been investigated to the same ***,we have prepared the Ti_(33)Nb_(15)Zr_(25)Hf_(25)O_(2)HEA and investi-gated the strain glass transition and its associated properties using dynamic mechanical analysis and mi-crostructure *** have found that the elastic modulus in Ti_(33)Nb_(15)Zr_(25)Hf_(25)O_(2)HEA deviates from Wachtman’s equation and observed the Elinvar effect in the form of temperature-independent mod-ulus in the temperature range from 150 K to 450 K and frequency-dependence modulus around 220 *** strain glass transition has been evidenced in Ti_(33)Nb_(15)Zr_(25)Hf_(25)O_(2)HEA by the formation and growth of nano-sized domains during in-situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM)cooling,and substantiated by the broken ergodicity during zero-field-cooling/*** strain glass transition is believed to account for the Elinvar effect,where the modulus hardening of nano-sized domains compensates dynam-ically with the modulus softening of the transformable matrix.

Lipogenesis is often highly upregulated in breast cancer brain metastases to adapt to intracranial low lipid *** inhibitors hold therapeutic potential but their intra-tumoral distribution is often blocked by the blood-tumor barrier(BTB).BTB activates its Wnt signaling to maintain barrier properties,e.g.,Mfsd2a-mediated BTB low ***,we reported VCAM-1-targeting nano-wogonin(W@V-NPs)as an adjuvant of nano-orlistat(O@V-NPs)to intensify drug delivery and inhibit lipogenesis of brain metastases.W@V-NPs were proven to be able to inactivate BTB Wnt signaling,downregulate BTB Mfsd2a,accelerate BTB vesicular transport,and enhance tumor accumulation of O@*** the ability to specifically kill cancer cells in a lipid-deprived environment with IC_(50) at 48 ng/mL,W@V-NPs plus O@V-NPs inhibited the progression of brain metastases with prolonged survival of model *** combination did not induce brain edema,cognitive impairment,and systemic toxicity in healthy *** Wnt signaling could safely modulate the BTB to improve drug delivery and metabolic therapy against brain metastases.
