Camouflaged object detection (COD) aims to identify the objects that conceal themselves in natural scenes. Accurate COD suffers from a number of challenges associated with low boundary contrast and the large variation of object appearances, e.g., object size and shape. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Context-aware Cross-level Fusion Network (C2F-Net), which fuses context-aware cross-level features for accurately identifying camouflaged objects. Specifically, we compute informative attention coefficients from multi-level features with our Attention-induced Cross-level Fusion Module (ACFM), which further integrates the features under the guidance of attention coefficients. We then propose a Dual-branch Global Context Module (DGCM) to refine the fused features for informative feature representations by exploiting rich global context information. Multiple ACFMs and DGCMs are integrated in a cascaded manner for generating a coarse prediction from high-level features. The coarse prediction acts as an attention map to refine the low-level features before passing them to our Camouflage Inference Module (CIM) to generate the final prediction. We perform extensive experiments on three widely used benchmark datasets and compare C2F-Net with state-of-the-art (SOTA) models. The results show that C2F-Net is an effective COD model and outperforms SOTA models remarkably. Further, an evaluation on polyp segmentation datasets demonstrates the promising potentials of our C2F-Net in COD downstream applications. Based on the application requirements of the embedded Web server for external network access to the internal network, this paper designs and builds an embedded Web server scheme for external network access to the internal network based on the embedded Boa server and phddns program. This solution mainly transplants the Boa server and phddns program in embedded devices. Boa provides a Web server application function, and phddns software realizes the mapping and binding mapping between the IP address and the domain name of embedded devices in the intranet. An experiment is designed to test this scheme's connection success rate, response time, stable running time, domain name mapping success rate, CPU utilization and other performance indicators. The test results show that this scheme can better meet the system requirements of external network access to the internal network. Therefore, this scheme can support the information and intelligent monitoring and control of embedded devices and has good practical value and application prospects.

Due to the black-box characteristics of deep learning based semantic encoders and decoders, finding a tractable method for the performance analysis of semantic communications is a challenging problem. In this paper, we propose an Alpha-Beta-Gamma (ABG) formula to model the relationship between the end-to-end measurement and SNR, which can be applied for both image reconstruction tasks and inference tasks. Specifically, for image reconstruction tasks, the proposed ABG formula can well fit the commonly used DL networks, such as SCUNet, and Vision Transformer, for semantic encoding with the multi scale-structural similarity index measure (MS-SSIM) measurement. Furthermore, we find that the upper bound of the MS-SSIM depends on the number of quantized output bits of semantic encoders, and we also propose a closed-form expression to fit the relationship between the MS-SSIM and quantized output bits. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first theoretical expression between end-to-end performance metrics and SNR for semantic communications. Based on the proposed ABG formula, we investigate an adaptive power control scheme for semantic communications over random fading channels, which can effectively guarantee quality of service (QoS) for semantic communications, and then design the optimal power allocation scheme to maximize the energy efficiency of the semantic communication system. Furthermore, by exploiting the bisection algorithm, we develop the power allocation scheme to maximize the minimum QoS of multiple users for OFDMA downlink semantic communication Extensive simulations verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed ABG formula and power allocation schemes. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

SNNs have achieved great attention in recent years as they contain neurons more like those in the brain and use spikes to encode and transmit information efficiently among neurons with lower energy consumption. A Retina-LGN-V1 structure-like spiking neuron network (RLVSL-SNN) is proposed in this paper. It is inspired by the structure of mammalian primary visual pathway, and simulates different biological structures of Retina, LGN and V1. Noise reduction circuit and light adaptation circuit are also simulated for enhancing the robustness of its extracted features. RLVSL-SNN is a bio-plausible neuron network as it has firing rates of neurons in each layer that are similar to those of biological experiments. Besides, a full-connected SNN (FC SNN) is implemented following RLVSL-SNN for classification to evaluate the extracted features. The additive spiking timing dependent plasticity (STDP) learning rules and the ANN-to-SNN conversion method are utilized to train RLVSL-SNN and FC SNN, respectively. The experiments on MNIST dataset have verified that RLVSL-SNN is comparable to AlexNet for classification by features from spikes.

Reset controller Synthesis by Reach-avoid Analysis for Delay Hybrid Systems

A reset controller is pivotal in the design of hybrid systems. It restricts the initial set and redefines the reset map associated with discrete transitions, ensuring system objective is met. Reset controller synthesis, alongside feedback controller synthesis and switching logic controller synthesis, provides a correct-by-construction approach to designing hybrid systems. However, the presence of time-delay poses challenges in hybrid systems, potentially compromising control performance and rendering verification certificates obtained by abstracting away time-delay invalid in practice. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a approach that incorporates time-delay considerations. We introduce a method that reduces the synthesis of reset controllers to the generation of reach-avoid sets for the hybrid system at hand, which can be efficiently solved using standard convex optimization solvers. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Flexible tissue modeling plays an important role in the field of telemedicine. It is related to whether the soft tissue deformation process can be accurately, real-time and vividly simulated during surgery. However, most existing models lack the unique biological characteristics. To solve this problem, a high-fidelity virtual liver model incorporating biological characteristics, such as the viscoelastic, anisotropic and nonlinear biological characteristics, is proposed based on the finite element model. When simulating the resection of diseased livers, the model undergoes a plastic deformation process where the model loses elasticity due to excessive deformation, but does not reach the cutting fracture threshold. To improve the fidelity of the liver model, this study is the first to introduce the viscoplasticity of biological tissues to the liver model. The 3DMax2020 and OpenGL4.6 were used to build a liver surgery simulation platform, and the PHANTOM OMNI manual controller was used to sense the feedback force during the operation. The proposed model was verified from three aspects of accuracy, fidelity and real-time performance. The experimental results show that the proposed virtual liver model can enhance visual perception ability, improve deformation accuracy and fidelity. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper presents an interactive motion control method based on reinforcement learning, designed to assist children with autism who have social motor impairments through a mirror game intervention. The virtual teacher uses the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm to optimize its actions, guiding the participant to follow a Lissajous trajectory. To ensure safety, a motion-correction mechanism was developed, which automatically adjusts actions when the predicted trajectory surpasses predefined safety boundaries. The reward function considers both the distance between the virtual teacher and the target trajectory, as well as the distance between the virtual teacher and the participant, with dynamic adjustments applied by the motion-correction mechanism. Experimental results demonstrate that the virtual teacher effectively guides the participant towards the target trajectory while adhering to safety constraints. © 2025 IEEE.

Over-the-Air Federated Learning via Second-Order Optimization

Federated learning (FL) is a promising learning paradigm that can tackle the increasingly prominent isolated data islands problem while keeping users' data locally with privacy and security guarantees. However, FL could result in task-oriented data traffic flows over wireless networks with limited radio resources. To design communication-efficient FL, most of the existing studies employ the first-order federated optimization approach that has a slow convergence rate. This however results in excessive communication rounds for local model updates between the edge devices and edge server. To address this issue, in this paper, we instead propose a novel over-the-air second-order federated optimization algorithm to simultaneously reduce the communication rounds and enable low-latency global model aggregation. This is achieved by exploiting the waveform superposition property of a multi-access channel to implement the distributed second-order optimization algorithm over wireless networks. The convergence behavior of the proposed algorithm is further characterized, which reveals a linear-quadratic convergence rate with an accumulative error term in each iteration. We thus propose a system optimization approach to minimize the accumulated error gap by joint device selection and beamforming design. StylizedNeRF: Consistent 3D Scene Stylization as Stylized NeRF via 2D-3D Mutual Learning

3D scene stylization aims at generating stylized images of the scene from arbitrary novel views following a given set of style examples, while ensuring consistency when rendered from different views. Directly applying methods for image or video stylization to 3D scenes cannot achieve such consistency. Thanks to recently proposed neural radiance fields (NeRF), we are able to represent a 3D scene in a consistent way. Consistent 3D scene stylization can be effectively achieved by stylizing the corresponding NeRF. However, there is a significant domain gap between style examples which are 2D images and NeRF which is an implicit volumetric representation. To address this problem, we propose a novel mutual learning framework for 3D scene stylization that combines a 2D image stylization network and NeRF to fuse the stylization ability of 2D stylization network with the 3D consistency of NeRF. We first pre-train a standard NeRF of the 3D scene to be stylized and replace its color prediction module with a style network to obtain a stylized NeRF. It is followed by distilling the prior knowledge of spatial consistency from NeRF to the 2D stylization network through an introduced consistency loss. We also introduce a mimic loss to supervise the mutual learning of the NeRF style module and fine-tune the 2D stylization decoder. In order to further make our model handle ambiguities of 2D stylization results, we introduce learnable latent codes that obey the probability distributions conditioned on the style. They are attached to training samples as conditional inputs to better learn the style module in our novel stylized NeRF.
