In this paper, we consider the analysis and control of continuous-time nonlinear systems to ensure universal shifted stability and performance, i.e., stability and performance w.r.t. each forced equilibrium point of the system. This "equilibrium-free" concept is especially beneficial for control problems that require the tracking of setpoints and rejection of persistent disturbances, such as input loads. In this paper, we show how the velocity form, i.e., the time-differentiated dynamics of the system, plays a crucial role in characterizing these properties and how the analysis of it can be solved by the application of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) methods in a computationally efficient manner. Furthermore, by leveraging the properties of the velocity form and the LPV framework, a novel controller synthesis method is presented which ensures closed-loop universal shifted stability and performance. The proposed controller design is verified in a simulation study and also experimentally on a real system. Additionally, we compare the proposed method to a standard LPV control design, demonstrating the improved stability and performance guarantees of the new approach. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. MISROBÆRTA: TRANSFORMERS VERSUS MISINFORMATION

Misinformation is considered a threat to our democratic values and principles. The spread of such content on social media polarizes society and undermines public discourse by distorting public perceptions and generating social unrest while lacking the rigor of traditional journalism. Transformers and transfer learning proved to be state-of-the-art methods for multiple wellknown natural language processing tasks. In this paper, we propose MisRoBÆRTa, a novel transformer-based deep neural ensemble architecture for misinformation detection. MisRoBÆRTa takes advantage of two state-of-the art transformers, i.e., BART and RoBERTa, to improve the performance of discriminating between real news and different types of fake news. We also benchmarked and evaluated the performances of multiple transformers on the task of misinformation detection. For training and testing, we used a large real-world news articles dataset (i.e., 100,000 records) labeled with 10 classes, thus addressing two shortcomings in the current research: (1) increasing the size of the dataset from small to large, and (2) moving the focus of fake news detection from binary classification to multi-class classification. For this dataset, we manually verified the content of the news articles to ensure that they were correctly labeled. The experimental results show that the accuracy of transformers on the misinformation detection problem was significantly influenced by the method employed to learn the context, dataset size, and vocabulary dimension. We observe empirically that the best accuracy performance among the classification models that use only one transformer is obtained by BART, while DistilRoBERTa obtains the best accuracy in the least amount of time required for fine-tuning and training. However, the proposed MisRoBÆRTa outperforms the other transformer models in the task of misinformation detection. SIMPLEX: A LEXICAL TEXT SIMPLIFICATION ARCHITECTURE

Text simplification (TS) is the process of generating easy-to-understand sentences from a given sentence or piece of text. The aim of TS is to reduce both the lexical (which refers to vocabulary complexity and meaning) and syntactic (which refers to the sentence structure) complexity of a given text or sentence without the loss of meaning or nuance. In this paper, we present SIMPLEX, a novel simplification architecture for generating simplified English sentences. To generate a simplified sentence, the proposed architecture uses either word embeddings (i.e., Word2Vec) and perplexity, or sentence transformers (i.e., BERT, RoBERTa, and GPT2) and cosine similarity. The solution is incorporated into a user-friendly and simple-to-use software. We evaluate our system using two metrics, i.e., SARI, and Perplexity Decrease. Experimentally, we observe that the transformer models outperform the other models in terms of the SARI score. However, in terms of Perplexity, the Word-Embeddings-based models achieve the biggest decrease. Thus, the main contributions of this paper are: (1) We propose a new Word Embedding and Transformer based algorithm for text simplification;(2) We design SIMPLEX - a modular novel text simplification system - that can provide a baseline for further research;and (3) We perform an in-depth analysis of our solution and compare our results with two state-of-the-art models, i.e., LightLS [19] and NTS-w2v [44]. Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a special kind of network that differs from traditional communication network. It consists of multiple wireless nodes within an area, with each device assuming responsibility for assisting in forwarding packets and being free to move around the area to change the wireless connection at any time. The network's wireless topology may change rapidly and unpredictably, and MANET has no centralized control for distribution of load properly, so load balancing becomes one of the most important issue in MANET. When a network transmits a large number of packets, if there is no load balancing, the network's life and performance will be affected due to congestion, high latency and data loss caused by overloading the network. Load balancing can improve network life and performance by distributing the load on a per-node basis. With development of the research, multipath routing protocols are more popular than single-path routing protocols, and multi-path routing protocols have shown superiority in their ability to improve packet rates, increase transmission reliability, and handle network congestion and busy traffic on time. This paper examines some multi-path load-balanced routing schemes in MANET networks and provides the relative advantages and disadvantages of the protocols so that we can identify future directions for research. © 2021 Global IT Research Institute (GiRI).

The problem of knowledge-aided (KA) covariance matrix estimation in airborne radar space-time adaptive processing (STAP) is studied in this paper. In the traditional KA covariance matrix estimation methods, the insufficient number of available samples and inaccurate prior knowledge can cause serious deterioration of STAP performance. To tackle this problem, a new KA covariance matrix estimation algorithm based on geometric mean is proposed. Specifically, by utilizing the persymmetric structure information as well as the geometric mean in the space of positive definite matrices, a geometric mean estimator is constructed, which is then linearly combined with the prior covariance matrix to obtain a new type of CCM estimators. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed algorithm has good STAP performance with small samples and inaccurate prior knowledge. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

The smelting process of the fused magnesium furnace(FMF) is prone to semi-molten abnormal conditions, which may lead to low product quality and production efficiency, and is also prone to safety accidents. At present, the operating conditions of FMF mainly rely on manual observation of the furnace shell features for diagnosis, and it is hard to timely and effectively identify abnormalities in the smelting process. Given the difficulty in identifying abnormal operating conditions of FMF, this paper proposes a deep multiview fuzzy classification method(DMFC) that can automatically identify abnormal operating conditions. First, based on the three-phase current data, CNN and Transformer are used to extract features as multiple views. Secondly, the Takagi-Sugeno-Kang(TSK) fuzzy model is used as a single-view model, and the evidence theory is used for dynamic fusion of multiple views. This method can effectively fuse multiple deep features, and has strong scalability and a certain degree of interpretability. Through verification of the real historical data of multiple FMFs, our model has relatively high accuracy, false detection rate(FDR), and missed detection rate(MDR). © 2024 IEEE.

Interconnection of wired Internet and Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET), called Integrated Internet-MANET can expand the network coverages and services. In this type of networks, the gateway acts as a bridge between MANET and wired Internet. As all data packets must pass through gateway, which is likely to be congested due to uneven traffic distribution. Thus, gateway load balancing become one of the most important issues in MANET. When the gateway is transmitting a large number of packets, load Balancing is the process of improving the performance of a network through a distribution of load among different gateways. If a gateway is heavily loaded without any load balancing capability, it degrades the performance by causing congestion, delay and resource loss in network. Recently, the key issue of gateway load balancing has been addressed by researchers in various ways, but now there aren't systematic analysis and comparison among different strategies. This paper provides the complete survey on load balancing solutions and proposes a gateway load balancing strategy comparison framework. © 2021 Global IT Research Institute (GiRI).

This paper explores the size-invariance of evaluation metrics in Salient Object Detection (SOD), especially when multiple targets of diverse sizes co-exist in the same image. We observe that current metrics are size-sensitive, where larger objects are focused, and smaller ones tend to be ignored. We argue that the evaluation should be size-invariant because bias based on size is unjustified without additional semantic information. In pursuit of this, we propose a generic approach that evaluates each salient object separately and then combines the results, effectively alleviating the imbalance. We further develop an optimization framework tailored to this goal, achieving considerable improvements in detecting objects of different sizes. Theoretically, we provide evidence supporting the validity of our new metrics and present the generalization analysis of SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
