Due to the increasing complexity of photovoltaic systems and problems linked to development and design, verification of the entire system operation is essential before real implementation. Besides, high requirements of a real-time simulation and control circuit prototyping before application increases safeness, and can reduce time and costs of implementation. For this end, the purpose of this work is to achieve photovoltaic system development and its design verification through system simulation using FPGA device. The verification method used in this study is the “Hardware-In-the-Loop” (HIL) simulation method. It provides an effective platform for developing and testing real time embedded systems. In this paper, we design the power circuit and we develop the open-circuit voltage controller which tracks the maximum power point. Then, the HIL simulation process is performed for the photovoltaic system. The efficiency of the photovoltaic system is validated by the simulation results.

This paper introduces identification algorithms for finite impulse response systems under quantized output observations and general quantized inputs. While asymptotically efficient algorithms for quantized identification under periodic inputs are available, their counterpart under general inputs has encountered technical difficulties and evaded satisfactory resolutions. Under quantized inputs, this paper resolves this issue with constructive solutions. A two-step algorithm is developed, which demonstrates desired convergence properties including strong convergence, mean-square convergence, convergence rates, asymptotic normality, and asymptotical efficiency in terms of the Cramér-Rao lower bound. Some essential conditions on input excitation are derived that ensure identifiability and convergence. It is shown that by a suitable selection of the algorithm's weighting matrix, the estimates become asymptotically efficient. The strong and mean-square convergence rates are explicitly obtained. Optimal input design is discussed. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the main results of this paper © 2015

This paper characterizes the problem of implementing a simultaneous estimation of the stator resistance and the rotor speed of a sensorless indirect rotor flux oriented control (IRFOC) induction motor (IM) drive. For this purpose, the Luenberger state observer (LSO) is taken as a rudimentary method to simultaneously estimate the rotor speed and the stator resistance. Likewise, we suggest an adaptation algorithm related to the Lyapunov stability hypothesis to estimate the stator resistance and the rotor speed. The latter utilizes the estimated and measured stator currents and the estimated rotor flux. Along these lines, the control method that we suggest is liable to achieve a good performance after reducing the computational complexity through the use of the analytical relation in order to determine the Luenberger observer (LO) gain matrix. Additionally, compared to the previous observers, our observer is characterized by its simplicity, robustness as well as its ability to be implemented online. This article implies also the use of a typical PI regulator with feed-forward reparation expressions in the synchronous frame. But to regulate the rotor speed, we use the IP controller because of its effectiveness. Actually, its validity and efficiency are verified by the simulation results.

This paper provides a multiple-layer parallel motion estimation (ME) scheme implemented on GPU for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). The scheme is hierarchically structured, including four layers: coding tree unit (CTU), prediction unit (PU), motion vector (MV) selection and instruction optimization. In PU-layer, costs of various PU sizes were obtained through a SAD (sum of absolute differences) look-up table instead of progressive cost merging. And during MV selection, GPU's comparison instruction was used to avoid branches. At the same time, concurrent CTUs processing and SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) optimization also improve the performance significantly. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can take full advantage of GPU and achieves over 90 times speedup compared with the HM10.0 using fast ME.

The paper studies the effect of the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation of a given quasi Linear Parameter Varying (qLPV) state-space model on the control performance results. The investigated model in the case study consists of the extended, Stribeck friction included three degrees of-freedom version of the aero elastic wing section of the Nonlinear Aero elastic Test Apparatus (NATA) model. The investigation is carried out through the Tensor Product (TP) model transformation based control Design Framework, which bridges the manipulation of the polytopic representation and Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based control design methods. Different TP model representations of the given qLPV model are derived: a TP model representation with a sum-normalized non-negative (SNNN) convex hull, a TP model representation with a close to-normal (CNO) convex hull and interpolated TP model representations. Upon these representations Linear Matrix Inequality based design methods are applied to attain the controller and observer system components. The resulting control systems are tested through numerical simulation and their performance are compared and evaluated. The paper presents results, where the interpolated representations lead to better control performance results, which indicates, that the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation may lead to further potential optimization possibilities. Also, this shows, that in order to find the optimal solution the manipulation is a necessary and important step.

Differential spatial modulation (DSM) is a newly proposed differential modulation technique tailored to spatial modulation (SM), which requires no channel state information (CSI) at the receiver. DSM can offer flexible tradeoff between the reception reliability and the system complexity. In this paper, we are the first to study the adoption of DSM in a dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying system, which consists of a two-antenna source, a single-antenna relay, and a single-antenna destination, so as to reduce the burden of channel tracking on both the relay and the destination. We derive a general upper bound on the average bit error probability (ABEP) achieved by the system. Moreover, an exact closed-form ABEP expression and the asymptotic result are provided for BPSK signaling in Rayleigh fading environment. The same system setup with the adoption of SM at the source is chosen as a benchmark for performance comparisons. Simulation results validate the analysis and reveal a 3dB signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) penalty of the considered system compared with the benchmark.

In this paper, the inverse optimal control approach is applied to stabilization in probability of unknown linear networked control system (NCS) in presence of random delays and packet losses. The proposed control scheme is based on Kalman filter parameter estimation to solve the infinite horizon regulator problem for NCS with stochastic system matrices, and avoids to solve the associated stochastic Riccati equation (SRE);additionally a cost functional is minimized. The stabilizing optimal controller is based on a discrete-time stochastic control Lyapunov function.

To deal with the challenge of information overload, in this paper, we propose a financial news recommendation algorithm which help users find the articles that are interesting to read. To settle the ambiguity problem, a new presented OF-IDF method is employed to represent the unstructured text data in the form of key concepts, synonyms and synsets which are all stored in the domain ontology. For users, the recommendation algorithm build the profiles based on their behaviors to detect the genuine interests and predict current interests automatically and in real time by applying the thinking of relevance feedback. Finally, the experiment conducted on a financial news dataset demonstrates that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms the performance of a traditional recommender.

This paper investigates the problem of stabilization of time delay linear singular systems subject to actuator saturation. A polytopic approach is used to describe the saturation behavior. By using an augmented Lyaponuv-Krasovskii functional and adopting the delay partitioning technique, less conservative sufficient conditions are established to ensure the closed loop system to be locally admissible based on a state feedback controller. In this paper, all the conditions are transformed into minimization problem involving LMI conditions by adopting the idea of the cone complementarity algorithm. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the design. © IFAC.
