This study proposes a motion cue based pedestrian detection method with two-trame-filtering (Tff) for video surveillance. The novel motion cue is exploited by the gray value variation between two frames. Then Tff processing filters the gradient magnitude image by the variation map. Summa- tions of the Tff gradient magnitudes in cells are applied to train a pre-deteetor to exclude most of the background regions. Histogram of Tff oriented gradient (HTffOG) feature is proposed for pedestrian detection. Experimental results show that this method is effective and suitable for real-time surveil- lance applications.

SiGe materials have become a research hotspot due to their important applications in semiconductor devices, especially in optoelectronic and high-speed electronic devices. In this study, based on molecular dynamics simulations, the influence of the Si buffer layer on the quality of films in Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructures is investigated. By simulating the growth process of the Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructure, a deposition model based on Ge(100) substrates is established. Inspired by the concept of reverse gradient buffer layers, Si buffer layers are directly grown on Ge substrates, followed by the deposition of SiGe films. This study primarily investigates the effects of the growth temperature and deposition thickness of the Si buffer layer on the quality of SiGe films. Based on the deposition parameters identified as suitable under the current simulation conditions (620 °C, 9.7 nm), the influence of the buffer layer on SiGe films with varying Ge compositions is further analyzed. The results show that the dislocations and stacking faults formed in the Si buffer layer effectively relieve the stress caused by lattice mismatch, thus improving the crystal quality of the subsequent SiGe films. This study provides theoretical insights into the Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructure film growth process, which helps enhance the quality of SiGe films and expands their applications in semiconductor devices.

The development of an innovative H∞ controller for looper and tension control in hot strip finishing mills is traced based on approximately linearized model. This solution has been considered thanks to its well- known robustness and simplicity characteristics concerning disturbances' attenuation. The controller is designed based on an optimal problem with linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraints, and the problem is solved by the mincx function of Matlab LMI Toolbox. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller compared with conventional ones.

Disrupting the circadian rhythms will cause health problems such as sleep disorders, memory disorders and obesity. Finding the suitable external stimulation to synchronize a model with a desired phase is a biologically significant issue. The phase control of circadian rhythms for Drosophila is considered from control engineering viewpoint in this paper. If all parameters of the model are known, we can use the feedback linearization to design a tracking controller for the phase ***, in practice, parameters uncertainties always exist. To deal with this problem, a slide-mode controller is proposed for the phase tracking control of circadian rhythms. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
