The next generation of aircraft,including more electric aircraft and all-electric aircraft(AEA),requires electric power systems with high power density and low system mass *** the voltage of the system to the range of a few kV,medium voltage(MV),is a reasonable approach to achieving high-power-density and low-system-mass EPSs for aircraft *** voltages,however,pose many challenges for aviation MV power cables such as arcs and arc tracking,partial discharges(PDs),and thermal *** this regard,thermal management is more challenging since heat transfer by convection is greatly reduced at wide-body aircraft's cruising altitudes due to the reduced air *** this paper,a finite element method(FEM)model is devel-oped in COMSOL Multiphysics for an aircraft bipolar MVDC(5 kV)power *** the model,the maximum permissible cable current at a low pressure of 18.8 kPa(at an altitude of 12.2 km from sea level,the usual cruising altitude for wide-body aircraft)is ***,an analytical model is developed based on analytical and proven empirical correlations governing conductive,radiative,and convective heat transfers at the steady state to estimate the ampacity of the bipolar cable system at reduced *** was shown that the proposed analytical model can be used for atmospheric pressure and systems with a larger number of poles,expanding its range of *** results of the FEM and analytical models correlate at wide ranges of parameters such as ambient temperature,duct size,distance between the positive and negative pole cables,and the overall diameter of the *** influence of horizontal and vertical arrangement of poles is included in the analytical *** results of this study can be used to design bipolar MVDC power cable systems for the envisaged wide-body AEA.

In this paper, we utilize hyperspheres and regular n-simplexes and propose an approach to learning deep features equivariant under the transformations of nD reflections and rotations, encompassed by the powerful group of O(n). Namely, we propose O(n)-equivariant neurons with spherical decision surfaces that generalize to any dimension n, which we call Deep Equivariant Hyperspheres. We demonstrate how to combine them in a network that directly operates on the basis of the input points and propose an invariant operator based on the relation between two points and a sphere, which as we show, turns out to be a Gram matrix. Using synthetic and real-world data in nD, we experimentally verify our theoretical contributions and find that our approach is superior to the competing methods for O(n)-equivariant benchmark datasets (classification and regression), demonstrating a favorable speed/performance trade-off. Price prediction is one of the examples related to forecasting tasks and is a project based on data science. Price prediction analyzes data and predicts the cost of new products. The goal of this research is to achieve an arrangement to predict the price of a cellphone based on its specifications. So, five deep learning models are proposed to predict the price range of a cellphone, one unimodal and four multimodal approaches. The multimodal methods predict the prices based on the graphical and non-graphical features of cellphones that have an important effect on their valorizations. Also, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed methods, a cellphone dataset has been gathered from GSMArena. The experimental results show 88.3% F1-score, which confirms that multimodal learning leads to more accurate predictions than state-of-the-art techniques. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Formulations and Approximations of Branch Flow Model for General Power Networks

The formulations and approximations of the branch flow model for general(radial and mesh) power networks(General-BranchFlow) are given in this paper. Using different sets of the power flow equations, six formats of the exact General-BranchFlow model are listed. The six formats are mathematically equivalent with each other. Linear approximation and second-order cone programming(SOCP) are then used to derive the six formats of the convex General-BranchFlow model. The branch ampacity constraints considering the shunt conductance and capacitance of the transmission line Π-model are derived. The key foundation of deriving the ampacity constraints is the correct interpretation of the physical meaning of the transmission line Π-model. An exact linear expression of the ampacity constraints of the power loss variable is derived. The applications of the General-BranchFlow model in deriving twelve formats of the exact optimal power flow(OPF) model and twelve formats of the approximate OPF model are formulated and analyzed. Using the Julia programming language, the extensive numerical investigations of all formats of the OPF models show the accuracy and computational efficiency of the General-BranchFlow model. A penalty function based approximation gap reduction method is finally proposed and numerically validated to improve the AC-feasibility of the approximate General-BranchFlow model.

Detecting P300 event-related potentials (ERPs) from electroencephalography (EEG) finds applications in several domains including brain computer interfaces (BCIs). Due to the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), however, detecting P300 from single trials has been challenging. As a result, multiple repetitions are typically needed, extending the BCI decision time. To address this problem, in this paper, we present TopoEEG, a novel method that generates a sequence of topography-based images from EEG, to capture both spatial and temporal information. These sequences are subsequently processed using the state-of-the-art video classification technique, TimeSformer. Evaluated using the BCI Competition II (IIb) dataset, results demonstrate that TopoEEG achieves single-trial P300 detection with F1-scores of 0.6830 and 0.7134 within the first 500 ms and 600 ms, respectively. These results highlight TopoEEG's potential to enhance the efficiency and speed of BCIs by reducing the need for multiple repetitions and the time required for decision-making in single-trial P300 detection. © 2025 IEEE.

Identifying spatiotemporal differences in brain functional dynamics corresponding to two tasks is critical for under-standing how specific neural processes contribute to distinct tasks or cognitive functions. Traditional methods rely on imposing assumptions and limits on the location and timing of activities, while machine-learning-based methods generally lack offering interpretable insights. This highlights the need for new data-driven approaches to capture spatial and temporal differences in brain activity between two tasks, while also providing interpretable explanations of the neural processes underlying these differences. In this work, we formulate the problem of finding the spatial and temporal differences in the dynamics of brain function corresponding to two motor imagery (MI) tasks (left hand movement vs right hand movement) as a discriminative discrete basis problem (DDBP). We apply the data-driven asymmetric discriminative associative algorithm (ADASSO) to EEG data collected during these tasks to uncover the key functional components of the brain's functional dynamics that differentiate between them. Results suggest that hand movements are strongly associated with high-confidence activation in the motor cortex, verifying the effectiveness of the ADASSO algorithm in identifying the location and timing of cortical activities that distinguish between the two task classes. © 2025 IEEE.

As industrial systems become more complex and interconnected, diagnosing faults accurately and in real time has become increasingly challenging. This paper explores how combining artificial intelligence with digital twin technology can address these challenges. We focus on developing hybrid Artificial intelligence models that leverage diverse data sources to enhance fault detection and diagnosis, enabling secure and distributed diagnostics. Digital twins, virtual models of physical systems, are shown to enhance predictive maintenance and decision-making by providing real-time system insights. What sets our work apart is the way we integrate these technologies to create scalable, adaptive, and context-aware diagnostic solutions. We demonstrate the potential of this approach across applications such as smart grids, manufacturing, and autonomous systems. Our goal is to provide researchers and practitioners with a practical and forward-looking framework for developing intelligent, reliable fault diagnosis systems in today’s data-rich industrial environments. © 2013 IEEE.

Decentralized control in active distribution grids via supervised and reinforcement learning

While moving towards a low-carbon, sustainable electricity system, distribution networks are expected to host a large share of distributed generators, such as photovoltaic units and wind turbines. These inverter-based resources are intermittent, but also controllable, and are expected to amplify the role of distribution networks together with other distributed energy resources, such as storage systems and controllable loads. The available control methods for these resources are typically categorized based on the available communication network into centralized, distributed, and decentralized or local. Standard local schemes are typically inefficient, whereas centralized approaches show implementation and cost concerns. This paper focuses on optimized decentralized control of distributed generators via supervised and reinforcement learning. We present existing state-of-the-art decentralized control schemes based on supervised learning, propose a new reinforcement learning scheme based on deep deterministic policy gradient, and compare the behavior of both decentralized and centralized methods in terms of computational effort, scalability, privacy awareness, ability to consider constraints, and overall optimality. We evaluate the performance of the examined schemes on a benchmark European low voltage test system. The results show that both supervised learning and reinforcement learning schemes effectively mitigate the operational issues faced by the distribution network.
