This paper describes the online dynamic examination application plugin named "ODES", developed according to the open source software philosophy, where the CMS Wordpress is used as programmers/coders are given the potential to develop applications from scratch with safety and ease. In ODES application there exists two types of users: admin/teacher and student. The admin/teacher can create/edit/delete/view questions, categories of questions and examination papers. The questions are divided in two types, multiple choice questions (including true/false) and long answer questions (essays). The teacher can create exams choosing the number of questions and the types of questions that exist in the pool of questions that are previously created. The selection is done randomly by the application and the teacher just determines the total number of both multiple choice or long answer questions as well as the importance (weight) of each one of them (including negative grades also). The student takes the random generated exam and receives his/hers grades. The grades of the multiple choice questions are done automatically, whereas for the long answer questions the teacher is responsible to put grades on. After the completion of the exam the teacher can view the student's final score via the control panel or a report. © 2018 Tei of Western Macedonia.

This paper aims to present the development of an operational, monitoring, as well as high-resolution local-scale meteorological and air quality forecasting information system for West Macedonia region, Hellas, in a dynamic, easily accessible and user-friendly way. The system, having been operated by the laboratory of Atmospheric Pollution and Environmental Physics since 2002, has been in a continuous process of improvement. It consists of a structured system fully accessible and manipulable by users, as well as a system for accessing and managing measurement results in a direct and dynamic way. Thus, updates of the weather and air pollution forecast for the West Macedonia region are provided for the next seven days based on current day information. The forecasts are displayed through dynamic-interactive web charts, whereas there is also a visual illustration of the atmospheric pollution of the region in a map, using images and animation images. The application has been developed using state of the art web technologies (Ajax, Google Maps, etc.) and under an open-source software philosophy, allowing users to update the code according to their needs. S.A.T.E.P. : Synchronous-Asynchronous Tele-education Platform is a software application for educational purposes, with a lot of parametrizing (configuration) features written entirely from scratch. It aims at the training and examination of computer skills, a platform that can be adjusted to the needs of each lesson. In the application the trainer and the administrator can define the number of the lectures and upload files for each one of them. Furthermore, he can insert, modify and delete questions which are used for evaluation tests but also for the trainees' examinations. The trainee can read/download the files of each lesson and also test his knowledge on what he has studied through a series of questions/tests. A chat module where registered users as well as system administrator can discuss and solve questions is also developed. © 2016 ACM.

The purpose of this work is to provide access to meteorological data as well as information of the status of air quality for the city of Kozani in real time with a userfriendly interface. The application has been developed using only open source software . MySQL has been used as a relational database management system, PHP as the scripting language for the development of the application and to connect the application to the database and Javascript/HTML for the user interface programming . The users are separated to two different groups (simple users-visitors and authorised users). Each group is provided by a number of functionalities. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper presents the implementation of a half-bridge resonant inverter to power a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) ozone generator. We use the PIC16F876A microcontroller-based control circuit to vary the inverter frequency. We use a step-up transformer to obtain the high voltage required for the DBD. We conducted an experimental study to investigate the impact of frequency and voltage on ozone production and power consumption. The results show that these two parameters have a strong influence. This study demonstrates the advantages of using a resonant inverter combined with optimum electrical parameter adjustment to achieve excellent energy efficiency for the DBD ozone generator. The choice of a resonant half-bridge topology aims to maximize energy efficiency, crucial in a solar-powered system. The circuit has been optimized to reduce switching losses. In addition, the development of the power source takes into account the capacitive nature of DBD reactors, using a series resonant circuit formed by the DBD capacitance and the step-up transformer inductance. The frequency range from 14 kHz to 17.5 kHz has been specifically chosen and optimized for the DBD reactor, taking into account the constraints of the PV source and the characteristics of the discharge. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of successful human-computer interaction means depends on the possibilities of automatic recognition of signals that are natural or familiar to people. These signals include speech, handwritten texts, gestures, facial expressions, and so on. To develop interfaces taking into account such signals, artificial intelligence methods, in particular, artificial neural networks, are being widely used now. One of the vast classes of neural networks are hybrid neuro-fuzzy systems, which are characterized by universal approximation capabilities and considerable computational simplicity. Such systems allow the implementation of speed-optimal learning algorithms also. These qualities make hybrid neuro-fuzzy systems very useful in solving classification problems, especially for online mode. This paper proposes an architecture and learning algorithm for spline-orthogonal extended neo-fuzzy neuron, which allows simplifying the network learning process when new data is received. For this purpose, the usage of nonlinear synapses based on Chebyshev orthogonal polynomials for neo-fuzzy neuron is proposed. B-splines are used as fuzzy membership functions. The effectiveness of the developed architecture and learning algorithm is studied on the example of the problem of basic person emotional states recognition in real time. © 2019 IEEE.

This study aims to develop an online Greek language learning platform via a learning management system based on the WordPress platform for primary school pupils with Russian as a mother tongue. The subject was chosen with a view to aid both the communication needs of Russian native speakers in Greece, as well as their smooth integration into society. For the purpose of the current study, we investigated how Greek language is learnt in Russia, how widespread and popular it is, whether it is supported by the Russian educational system, as well as whether Greek language distance learning could be achieved. Moreover, LMS(Learning management system) environments were investigated as well, aiming at selecting the most student/teacher-friendly one. Taking into account that the platform is addressed to children, a presentable and properly developed material was designed, thus making the learning of each module more interesting and comprehensible throughout its short duration. With"GrfKids" platform speakers of other languages have the opportunity to learn Greek in an interactive asynchronous teaching environment with an automatic assessment. Moreover,"GrfKids" can be easily and immediately expanded both to pupils‘linguistic, as well as age range."GrfKids" provides Greek language courses to children with Russian as a mother tongue with interactive modules in which the learners can adapt the learning time by themselves. It is easy to use, functional and easily adapted to the ages it is addressed to. It was developed to create a teaching system by applying different plugins to the selected CMS(Content Management system), aiming to achieve a curriculum in which the pupil is in direct interaction with the educational material. It can be used individually, or as a support tool in a real class context.
