Prunus napaulensis (Ser.) Steud., colloquially known as Jungali aaru in Nepali, represents an underutilized wild fruit tree species with a distribution spanning from Nepal's temperate eastern to western regions. This study assessed the ecology, ethnobotany, and potential optimized uses of P. napaulensis in Nepal, which are beneficial for conserving its genetic resources. We conducted a systematic field survey to gather ethnobotanical and ecological data, directly involving 106 respondents through snowball sampling methods across eight districts, comprising two districts in the eastern, three in the central, and three in the western regions of Nepal. We found P. napaulensis to thrive within the altitudinal range of 1500-3100 m in temperate Nepal. Notably, this species serves seven different purposes in Nepal, with the highest usage being in fuelwood (FL = 89.62%) followed by fruits (FL = 76.42%). Furthermore, this species is used to prepare 18 economically valuable food products in China and India. Despite its evident potential for economic utility, this species remains underutilized within Nepal, rendering it moderately vulnerable to access through rapid vulnerability assessment methods. Consequently, our study supports for the sustainable utilization of this species to ensure the conservation of its genetic resources and enable local communities to harness its economic benefits effectively.

Fruit resources represent significant assets for national dietary sustenance and rural economic revitalization. Nepal, possessing ample natural diversity, has abundant fruit resources, notably Prunus cerasifera Ehrh. and Prunus persica (L.) Batsch, distributed from the eastern to western regions of the country. We assessed the ethnobotanical significance and current utilization of these species and proposed a sustainable usage roadmap. An ethnobotanical survey was conducted across 54 districts of Nepal, encompassing data from 775 respondents. P. cerasifera and P. persica were utilized in 8 and 12 major categories, respectively. The total use reports for P. cerasifera were 1441, and P. persica was 1867. The fidelity level was highest (100%) for fruit use for P. persica and 99.4% for P. cerasifera. The generalized linear model (GLM) Poisson showed that P. persica was significantly dependent on age and occupation;however, P. cerasifera was not dependent on these variables. We conclude that to optimize the utilization of P. cerasifera and P. persica, product development initiatives such as juice, wine, and alcohol production should be prioritized. These value-added products can enhance economic benefits while ensuring the sustainable use of these species.

To improve the environmental quality and to increase citizens' index of happiness, Bandung City government has built or either rebuilt and revitalized some urban green open spaces, or in popular are known as public park. Until now the government has built hundreds of parks scattered throughout the city of Bandung, ranging from neighbourhood park to city parks. With the availability of many public parks in Bandung, this attract the citizens' attention, both Bandung's citizen and surrounding citizen, to having activities at public park as an alternative destination. Based on the current conditions, the development of green open space in Bandung more likely to focus on meet user's satisfaction and put aside the fulfilment of other function (ecological, health, socio cultural, economy, and aesthetic) as part of the efforts to increase Bandung city urban green open space sustainability. Since the development of green open spaces only expected to accommodate more visitors, this will result in expanding pavement area which potentially reducing the park's ability to absorb water and reducing existing vegetation. In order to prove that, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of urban green open spaces in Bandung. The evaluation's aims to value the balance between its aesthetical and social function, with its ecological function. This paper will propose a set of indicators which can be used as a tool to evaluate performance of urban green open space as an effort to increase Bandung city urban green open space sustainability. These indicators were obtained through in-depth research and review of some related literatures, sub indicators which obtained at that stage will combined and modified to appropriate with the Bandung City urban green open space characteristics. This research aims to find the spectrum of a park service scope from two city parks in Denpasar, a densely populated city. The city parks in study are Lapangan Puputan Badung and Lapangan Puputan Margarana as city public facilities of Denpasar - Bali that is said to improve citizen quality of life and environment as well. However, this research focuses to see how city parks in Bali serve their users. This study uses a survey research method. Sample of respondents are chosen using accidental sampling technique with questionnaire as media of data collection. Data series include, users' age, frequency of visit, activities, and domicile. Research findings are analysed spatially and descriptively as well. Result shows that most visitors are young people who spend time mostly for exercising and other recreational activities. It is also interesting to see that both city park users are regular visitors. They visit the parks at least 1 to 2 time per week and spend 1 to 2 hours in there. The parks users mostly come from densely populated areas. That shows the importance of city parks as complement to a city. However, as a city that going to smart city, ICT has not been recognized much. As conclusion, the spectrum of city parks service scope of Denpasar still ranging in traditional functions of public green open space. A city park serves a man-made nature-like place for people to get refresh within an urban landscape setting. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The selection of tree species planted for aesthetic functions may vary based on their physical appearance and it is very important to use the species of the native trees for ecological purposes. The objectives of this research were to assess the ecological distribution and the aesthetical performance of the collections of the Javanese native trees at the Bogor Botanical Garden. The data were processed and analysed based on habitat distribution and morphological characteristics. Furthermore, the Key Performance Index Assessment Technique was used to give value to each criterion. The stages of tree aesthetic quality assessment were done by simulation using the method of Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE). Total 469 species of the Javanese native trees were discovered. Based on the habitat distribution, the highest number describes the species of tree scattered throughout the Island of Java (237 species), Western Java (131 species), West and Central Java (53 species), Central Java (17 species), central and eastern Java (12 species), eastern Java (9 species), and western and eastern Java (7 species). Furthermore, the species of native trees also had a range of habitat altitude ranging from coastal (0 masl) to mountain (3100 masl). Then, based on the criteria of aesthetic assessment, they were categorized as good (43 species), medium (172 species) and bad (14 species).

The Resort II Salak Mountain has variety of landscape potential for created as ecotourism destination, especially the potential of the waterfall (curug) and sulphur crater (Kawah Ratu). The aim of this study was to identify and analyze the potential resources of the landscape to be created as ecotourism destination, Resort II Salak Mountain. This research was conducted through two phases: 1) identification of the attractions location that have potential resources for ecotourism destination, and 2) analysis of the level of potential resource of the landscape in each location using Analysis of Tourist Attraction Operational Destination (ATAOD). The study showed Resort II Salak Mountain has many ecotourism objects which have been used for ecotourism activities, such as hot spring baths, Curug Cigamea, Curug Ngumpet, Curug Seribu, Curug Pangeran, Curug Muara, Curug Cihurang, Kawah Ratu, camping ground, Curug Kondang and Curug Alami. The location of all waterfalls - curug, spread widely in the core zone for ecotourism. In the other hand, camping ground is located in the business zone, while Kawah Ratu is located in the natural forest, which is included in the buffer zone of Halimun-Salak National Park (HSNP). The result showed that the ecotourism objects with the highest potential value are Kawah Ratu, Curug Seribu, Curug Muara, Curug Kondang and Curug Ngumpet.

Bamboo or tiying (Balinese language) is a widely used non-timber plant in Indonesia especially in Bali. The presence of bamboo appertains to its ethno-botanical function of bamboo especially for rituals. However, there are other utilization of bamboo which is naturally grown or intentionally planted. Kedewatan as a famous place in northern Ubud, Bali have many lavish hotels with its natural environment and appealing place. The aims of this study is to invent bamboo species diversity and bamboo utilization on private areas of hotel in Kedewatan. Methods used in this study was field survey with observation and interview technic. Observation was implemented by purposive sampling methods by selecting hotel which adjacent to Ayung and Wos rivers. Interview was conducted with some key persons in charge on managing hotel garden. In addition, bamboo species identification was established through literature study. The results show that there are eleven bamboo species found on the survey area with most commonly employed species in the area were tiying tali (Gigantochloa apus (J.A. & J.H. Schultes) Kurz.) and tiying gading (Phyllostachys sulphurea (Carr.) A. e.t. C. Riv.) which were belong to exotic species. The areas which bamboo cultivated were welcome area as a hedgerow and near hotel lobby, between, outside and inside villa buildings, and naturally grown in the riverbanks with a good landscaping arrangement. Bamboo plantations were utilized to adorn and support the quality of the hotel building as well as to conserve soil and water along Ayung and Wos river canyons. The other utilization of bamboo was to facilitate ritual activity in Kedewatan village. They are allowed to ask for limited amount of bamboo culms with condition not to damage the physical appearance and function that desired by the hotel manager or hotel owner.

The role of eco-attraction in the intention to conduct low-carbon actions: a study of visitor behavior in urban forests

PurposeOne of the crucial elements of addressing global climate challenges through urban tourism is the continuing existence of urban forests. The reasoning is that the ecological attraction of urban forests can impact visitors' intention to conduct pro-environmental behavior, including low-carbon actions. Thus, more visitors to urban forests will positively affect enhancing the quality of the urban environment. However, the extent to which ecological attraction can influence pro-environmental behavior warrants further investigation due to the complexity of psychosocial factors that impact behavioral intention. The main objective of this research is to examine the effects of the ecological attractiveness of urban forests on the pro-environmental behavior of visitors by exploring motivation, ecological experience, perceived value and knowledge as mediators. Moreover, whether the nature of the urban forest and facilities attract visitors simultaneously is also ***/methodology/approachData were collected from 615 respondents who visited three urban forests in Bandung, the second-most populous city in Indonesia, by five-point Likert questionnaires. As an analytical tool, SEM PLS was applied to establish the effect of the ecological performance of the urban forest on the increase in environmentally conscious behavior among urban forest *** findings demonstrate that the attractiveness of an urban forest affects the growth of environmentally responsible behaviors. Nonetheless, the attractiveness of urban forests is dictated more by their infrastructure than their ecological function. On the contrary, the visitors' knowledge level can improve their motivation, environmental experience and perceived environmental value. These findings show the significance of developing educational programs with an emphasis on the experience of the visitors so that their ecological performance can contribute to improved low-carbon behavior. Argapura is one of the village areas in Cigudeg Subdistrict which has potential unique characteristics for a tourist destination, namely Geopark. Argapura Village is one of the Pongkor National Geopark development villages covering 15 sub-districts in Bogor Regency. Pongkor National Geopark is a unitary space with geodiversity, culturediversity and biodiversity which aims to preserve and protect the wealth of natural resources. The geopark is located very close to tourism activities, but the existing tour has not specifically touched the educational aspect (educational tourism). Educational tourism is a tourism packaging program that is loaded with educational values in each of its activities. Argapura Village needs to be developed educational tourism aimed at all visitors. The objectives of this study were to identify and analyze the potential of educational tourism objects in Argapura Village, and to arrange educational tourism program in Argapura Village. Data collection through literature studies, field surveys and interviews with stakeholders. Data analysis using tables and described based on the criteria of educational values and geopark elements. The results of study showed that Argapura Village has two main potential attractions/educational tourism objects, namely Angklung Gubrag and Gudawang Caves. Angklung Gubrag is an educational tourism attraction that has high cultural, historical and religious values. Gudawang Cave is an educational tourism object in the form of karst ecosystem. In addition to the both of tourism objects, there are several other potential tourism objects and characteristics of the Geopark. The Argapura Village educational tourism was compiled includes two main programs, namely the half-day and the full-day visiting programs. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Oxidation ditch reactor is wastewater treatment unit that based on activated sludge process. Water flow characteristic inside reactor is either completely-mixed reactor or plug flow reactor. Water flow characterization plays important role in wastewater treatment process. To ensure the biological process going well, the water flow in reactor must be completely mixed type. Characterization study of water flow in reactor consume time thus financial, so the simulation using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) becomes a good solution. Based on the calibrated model, the CFD simulation was generate to define the water flow characteristic of the oxidation ditch reactor in longitudinal section. The simulation was conducted using VoF (Volume of Fluid) scheme, an open surface model in unsteady flow with k-epsilon turbulence model. The simulation result shows that water flow inside the oxidation ditch reactor was plug flow. The role of aeration system is to increase water flow to be more homogen, indicated by higher effective volume inside the reactor. The simulation result shows that the aerator could increase effective volume inside the reactor from 32,94% into 55,5%. The higher effective volume means dead zone inside the reactor is reduced.
