Tourism Potential in West Beach Coastal Area of Banten Province Based on Land Use Spatial Pattern

The west beach coastal area of Banten province is very productive. Local governments use this area for various development activities, tourism in particular. This study aims to determine the tourism potential of the west coast of Banten Province based on the spatial pattern of land use by local regulations. Thus, the development of coastal tourism can develop in an integrated and sustainable manner. The research methodology used is literature study, interviews, field verification, spatial analysis (Arc-GIS), and policy analysis based on the Banten Province Spatial Plan. Based on policy analysis related to regional spatial planning in Banten Province, there are three strategic tourism areas on the west coast, including; (a) Sumur Beach corridor, (b) Pandeglang West Coast corridor (Carita-Cigeulis), and (c) Serang West Coast Corridor (Anyer-Cinangka). The West Coast Corridor of The criteria for the physical type of beach suitable for tourism activities is wide beaches, not rocky, freshwater, and far from the highway. The west coast corridor area these criteria is the Serang West Coast Corridor (Anyer - Cinangka), precisely at Anyer Beach and Anyer Kidul Beach.

The Prospect of Geotourism in the Cycloop Mountains Conservation Area Papua

The Cycloop mountains in Papua are a nature reserve conservation area that has diverse geology, biology and culture. This paper discusses the prospects of geotourism in Cycloop mountains based on a method of analyzing the community acceptability and tourists preferences, likewise the geosite attraction and geotourism sustainability. The results of analysis indicates that a) village communities in surrounding conservation area accept and wish to get involved in natural activities; b) local tourists are very dominant and motivated on outdoor recreation in groups; c) identified geosites has classified as from Quite Interesting to Interesting based on the index of attractiveness; and d) geotourism activity in the mountains Cycloop is categorized Quite Sustainable reviewed from the environment, society, economy and governance dimension. The exploration and the geological conservation to be the reliable activities in organizing the geotourism. Geotourism is likely to be applied to the conservation area as a form of implementation of the sustainable tourism concept.

Visitor perspectives and satisfaction index towards ecotourism potential in the Leang-Leang Prehistoric Park, Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park

The Leang-Leang prehistoric park is one of four leading destinations in Bantimurung Bulusarung National Park, however, the evaluation of visitor perspectives and satisfaction index in this site were still limited. This study aimed to analyze the importance-performance analysis based on visitor perspectives and to assess visitor satisfaction index in the Leang-Leang destination. Fifty people selected through convenience sampling method were involved as respondents. Consumer perspective assessment was focused on 33 ecotourism potential subcomponents and the scoring method referred to Likert scale, prior to group into the IPA matrix/Cartesian diagram. The visitor satisfaction assessment was calculated based on the formula of customer satisfaction index. The result showed that there were 7 ecotourism potential subcomponents that need to be prioritized by managerial team, i.e local cultural arts, guide and interpreter, public lavatory, garbage dump, rest area, security facility (tourist police) and shopping facility. Flora attraction, panorama, specific attraction, historical heritage, hospitality of local people, the easiness access to locations, the easiness access to get information about the distance from the nearest city, brochures, maps or other directions, clean water availability, service, care and skill of human resource had been already in the good condition, so keep up the good work. Fauna attraction, local traditions and customs, festival, carvings and crafts, local food, homestay, hotel, camping ground, the easiness access to get transportation, telephone, faximile or internet and health facility were included in low priority subcomponents. Moreover, cultural landscape, local people daily life and transportation costs were categorized as possible overkill subcomponent. The score of visitor satisfaction index was 55.57 and categorized as a moderate satisfaction level.

Toraja is a popular tourist destination in the sacred highlands of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It has been widely known for its unique traditional culture. The combination of nature, agriculture, and culture is landscape beauty as area potential tourism. However, the management of tourism objects and attractions has not given much attention to the quality of the landscape aesthetic. This paper shows the results of scenic beauty assessment of culture-based landscape in the North Toraja Regency. Field survey and analysis using Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) were used as the method of this research. The results showed that the SBE score represented by 40 landscape pictures ranged from -42 to 234. The landscape that achieved the highest SBE score of 234 was Lolai To'tombi, while the landscape with the lowest SBE score of -42 was Limbong Agrotourism. The preferred landscape has a unique characteristic, in order, having a harmonious blend of hardscape elements and vegetation, and the presence of green open space or blue sky in the landscape. Managers of tourism objects need to consider the character of the landscape in developing tourism objects and attractions to improve the quality of landscape beauty.

Vegetation dynamics can be tracked using remotely sensed vegetation indices, but these metrics can result in conflicting conclusions. This Technical Review details the history, application and potential pitfalls associated with vegetation indices and makes recommendations for their best use. Vegetation indices (VIs), which describe remotely sensed vegetation properties such as photosynthetic activity and canopy structure, are widely used to study vegetation dynamics across scales. However, VI-based results can vary between indices, sensors, quality control measures, compositing algorithms, and atmospheric and sun-target-sensor geometry corrections. These variations make it difficult to draw robust conclusions about ecosystem change and highlight the need for consistent VI application and verification. In this Technical Review, we summarize the history and ecological applications of VIs and the linkages and inconsistencies between them. VIs have been used since the early 1970s and have evolved rapidly with the emergence of new satellite sensors with more spectral channels, new scientific demands and advances in spectroscopy. When choosing VIs, the spectral sensitivity and features of VIs and their suitability for target application should be considered. During data analyses, steps must be taken to minimize the impact of artefacts, VI results should be verified with in situ data when possible and conclusions should be based on multiple sets of indicators. Next-generation VIs with higher signal-to-noise ratios and fewer artefacts will be possible with new satellite missions and integration with emerging vegetation metrics such as solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence, providing opportunities for studying terrestrial ecosystems globally.

The Pongkor post-mining area is designated as one of the ecotourism areas in Bogor. This area has biodiversity of flora and fauna. This study aims to: (1) analysis the importance value index (IVI) of flora types; (2) analysis species richness index, species diversity index, and relative species abundance index; (3) analysis the beauty, the uniqueness and the rarity of the flora and fauna types. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive. Based on the identification results, 185 species of flora are distributed in this region. During the rainy season, 15 species of herpetofauna were identified, 32 types of aves, and 4 types of mammals, while in the dry season 19 species of herpetofauna were identified, 23 types of aves, and 2 types of mammals. Based on the results of the analysis conducted on these flora and fauna, there are flora species that have high IVI values and some beautiful and unique flora species that are in the category of endangered species. Besides that, there are also fauna species which have a value of species richness index, species diversity index, and relative species abundance index, as well as some beautiful, unique, and fauna species that are in the category of endangered species.

This study investigates the density level of the Jabodetabek KRL stations and routes and the spatial pattern of the Jabodetabek KRL. The method used is spatial autocorrelation calculation using the Moran's Index putting on data PT KCI from 2014 through 2020, spatial data from BIG, and BPS population data. The study results show that the stations and the routes were congested. Still, there was a drastic decrease in passengers when the Covid-19 outbreak entered Indonesia in March 2020. There was positive autocorrelation and spatial patterns forming Clusters which means that it is necessary to create new lines and stations to break up the current overcrowding of train passengers. As a result, understanding the density level of stations and routes and the passenger density distribution pattern at Jabodetabek stations may be utilized to design the building of new stations and lines at KRL Jabodetabek, thereby increasing the degree of comfort, safety, and security.

Objectives: Evidence -based research (EBR) is the systematic and transparent use of prior research to inform a new study so that it answers questions that matter in a valid, efficient, and accessible manner. This study surveyed experts about existing (e.g., citation analysis) and new methods for monitoring EBR and collected ideas about implementing these methods. study Design and Setting: We conducted a cross-sectional study via an online survey between November 2022 and March 2023. Participants were experts from the fields of evidence synthesis and research methodology in health research. Open-ended questions were coded by recurring themes;descriptive statistics were used for quantitative questions. Results: Twenty-eight expert participants suggested that citation analysis should be supplemented with content evaluation (not just what is cited but also in which context), content expert involvement, and assessment of the quality of cited systematic reviews. They also suggested that citation analysis could be facilitated with automation tools. They emphasized that EBR monitoring should be conducted by ethics committees and funding bodies before the research starts. Challenges identified for EBR implementation monitoring were resource constraints and clarity on responsibility for EBR monitoring. Conclusion: Ideas proposed in this study for monitoring the implementation of EBR can be used to refine methods and define responsibility but should be further explored in terms of feasibility and acceptability. Different methods may be needed to determine if the use of EBR is improving over time. (c) 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and ectomycorrhizal (EcM) associations are critical for host-tree performance. However, how mycorrhizal associations correlate with the latitudinal tree beta-diversity remains untested. Using a global dataset of 45 forest plots representing 2,804,270 trees across 3840 species, we test how AM and EcM trees contribute to total beta-diversity and its components (turnover and nestedness) of all trees. We find AM rather than EcM trees predominantly contribute to decreasing total beta-diversity and turnover and increasing nestedness with increasing latitude, probably because wide distributions of EcM trees do not generate strong compositional differences among localities. Environmental variables, especially temperature and precipitation, are strongly correlated with beta-diversity patterns for both AM trees and all trees rather than EcM trees. Results support our hypotheses that latitudinal beta-diversity patterns and environmental effects on these patterns are highly dependent on mycorrhizal types. Our findings highlight the importance of AM-dominated forests for conserving global forest biodiversity. The relationship of mycorrhizal associations with latitudinal gradients in tree beta-diversity is unexplored. Using a global dataset approach, this study examines how trees with arbuscular mycorrhizal and ectomycorrhizal associations contribute to latitudinal beta-diversity patterns and the environmental controls of these patterns.

Twenty-five years since foundational publications on valuing ecosystem services for human well-being(1,2), addressing the global biodiversity crisis(3) still implies confronting barriers to incorporating nature's diverse values into decision-making. These barriers include powerful interests supported by current norms and legal rules such as property rights, which determine whose values and which values of nature are acted on. A better understanding of how and why nature is (under)valued is more urgent than ever(4). Notwithstanding agreements to incorporate nature's values into actions, including the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)(5) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals(6), predominant environmental and development policies still prioritize a subset of values, particularly those linked to markets, and ignore other ways people relate to and benefit from nature(7). Arguably, a 'values crisis' underpins the intertwined crises of biodiversity loss and climate change(8), pandemic emergence(9) and socio-environmental injustices(10). On the basis of more than 50,000 scientific publications, policy documents and Indigenous and local knowledge sources, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) assessed knowledge on nature's diverse values and valuation methods to gain insights into their role in policymaking and fuller integration into decisions(7,11). Applying this evidence, combinations of values-centred approaches are proposed to improve valuation and address barriers to uptake, ultimately leveraging transformative changes towards more just (that is, fair treatment of people and nature, including inter- and intragenerational equity) and sustainable futures.
