Constraint Dependency Grammar (CDG) is a formalism representing grammatical rules as constraints on dependency relations. It reduces the structural ambiguity via constraint-propagation without generating individual parse trees. In this paper, we propose a high quality parsing model for Chinese, which defines the phrase molecule lexicalizing the CDG at the word-level. Ternary constraints are used to improve the accuracy and efficiency of parsing. © 2012 IEEE.

Constraint Dependency Grammar (CDG) is a well known formalism which represents the grammatical rules as constraints on dependency relations. It reduces the structural ambiguities via constraint-propagation instead of generating individual parse trees as the conventional works. In our previous work, we have successfully adopted CDG in Chinese [5]. In this paper, we tend to further explore the nature of the constraints for Chinese CDG. We propose to develop a schema of three hierarchies for the constraints, namely in-the-phrase, between-the-phrase and between-the-simple-sentence, which is based on a study of constraints in corpus with a prior knowledge. With this proposed schema, we could further diminish the ambiguities caused by the originally defined constraints which is lack of hierarchical grammar information considered, The experiments are conducted and the results support our claims. © 2012 IEEE.

Conversational machine reading comprehension (CMRC) aims to assist computers to understand an natural language text and thereafter engage in a multi-turn conversation to answer questions related to the text. Existing methods typically require three steps: (1) decision making based on entailment reasoning;(2) span extraction if required by the above decision;(3) question rephrasing based on the extracted span. However, for nearly all these methods, the span extraction and question rephrasing steps cannot fully exploit the fine-grained entailment reasoning information in decision making step because of their relative independence, which will further enlarge the information gap between decision making and question phrasing. Thus, to tackle this problem, we propose a novel end-to-end framework for conversational machine reading comprehension based on shared parameter mechanism, called entailment reasoning T5 (ET5). Despite the lightweight of our proposed framework, experimental results show that the proposed ET5 achieves new state-of-the-art results on the ShARC leaderboard with the BLEU-4 score of 55.2. In e-service environment, service contract is important for assurance of business interoperability and quality of services. Combining service contract and process model will facilitate analyzing service process and monitoring service execution. This paper proposes a service modeling approach consists of service contract and process model. Service contracts are used as service advertisement and service request in this approach. The operational semantics of service contract and process model are translated into Constraint Handling Rules(CHR) program by a compiler. Based on this approach, a concept named service contracting is defined as a phase between service discovery and execution, which checks the consistency of service advertisement and process model as well as the the applicability of services w.r.t. the consumer's capabilities. Further, constraint solver centered implementation is designed, the modeling and contracting of web services under this architecture is illustrated. © 2012 IEEE.

Parallel cross-lingual summarization data is scarce, requiring models to better use the limited available cross-lingual resources. Existing methods to do so often adopt sequence-to-sequence networks with multi-task frameworks. Such approaches apply multiple decoders, each of which is utilized for a specific task. However, these independent decoders share no parameters, hence fail to capture the relationships between the discrete phrases of summaries in different languages, breaking the connections in order to transfer the knowledge of the high-resource languages to low-resource languages. To bridge these connections, we propose a novel Multi-Task framework for Cross-Lingual Abstractive Summarization (MCLAS) in a low-resource setting. Employing one unified decoder to generate the sequential concatenation of monolingual and cross-lingual summaries, MCLAS makes the monolingual summarization task a prerequisite of the cross-lingual summarization (CLS) task. In this way, the shared decoder learns interactions involving alignments and summary patterns across languages, which encourages attaining knowledge transfer. Experiments on two CLS datasets demonstrate that our model significantly outperforms three baseline models in both low-resource and full-dataset scenarios. Moreover, in-depth analysis on the generated summaries and attention heads verifies that interactions are learned well using MCLAS, which benefits the CLS task under limited parallel resources. © 2021 Association for Computational Linguistics

Diffusion models have become a powerful generative modeling paradigm, achieving great success in continuous data patterns. However, the discrete nature of text data results in compatibility issues between continuous diffusion models (CDMs) and pre-trained language models (PLMs). That is, the performance of diffusion models even degrades when combined with PLMs. To alleviate this issue, we propose to utilize a pre-trained decoder to convert the denoised embedding vectors into natural language instead of using the widely used rounding operation. In this way, CDMs can be more effectively combined with PLMs. Additionally, considering that existing noise schedules in text diffusion models do not take into account the linguistic differences among tokens, which violates the easy-first policy for text generation, we propose a linguistic easy-first schedule that incorporates the measure of word importance, conforming to easy-first-generation linguistic features and bringing about improved generation quality. Experiment results on the E2E dataset and five controllable tasks show that our approach can combine the merits of CDMs and PLMs, significantly outperforming other diffusion-based models. © 2024 ELRA language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Implicit Discourse Relation Recognition (IDRR), which infers discourse logical relations without explicit connectives, is one of the most challenging tasks in natural language processing (NLP). Recently, pre-trained language models (PLMs) have yielded impressive results across numerous NLP tasks, but their performance still remains unsatisfactory in IDRR. We argue that prior studies have not fully harnessed the potential of PLMs, thereby resulting in a mixture of logical semantics, which determine the logical relations between discourse arguments, and general semantics, which encapsulate the non-logical contextual aspects (detailed in Sec.1). Such a mixture would inevitably compromise the logic reasoning ability of PLMs. Therefore, we propose a novel method that trains the PLMs through two semantics enhancers to implicitly differentiate logical and general semantics, ultimately achieving logical semantics enhancement. Due to the characteristic of PLM in word representation learning, these two semantics enhancers will inherently confront with each other, facilitating an augmentation of logical semantics by disentangling them from general semantics. The experimental results on PDTB 2.0 dataset show that the confrontation approach exceeds our baseline by 3.81% F1 score, and the effectiveness of the semantics confrontation method is validated by comprehensive ablation experiments. © 2024 ELRA language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Software Defined Network (SDN) separates control plane from data plane and provides programmability which adds rich function for anomaly detection. In this case, every organization can manage their own network and detect anomalous traffic data using SDN architecture. Moreover, detection of malicious traffic, such as DDoS attack, would be dealt with much higher accuracy if these organizations shared their data. Unfortunately, they are unwilling to do so due to privacy consideration. To address this contradiction, we propose an efficient and privacy-preserving collaborative anomaly detection scheme. We extend prior work on SDN-based anomaly detection method to guarantee accuracy and privacy at the same time. The implementation of our design on simulated data shows that it performs well for network-wide anomaly detection with little overhead. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.

Distributed word representation plays a pivotal role in various natural language processing tasks. In spite of its success, most existing methods only consider contextual information, which is suboptimal when used in various tasks due to a lack of task-specific features. The rational word embeddings should have the ability to capture both the semantic features and task-specific features of words. In this paper, we propose a task-oriented word embedding method and apply it to the text classification task. With the function-aware component, our method regularizes the distribution of words to enable the embedding space to have a clear classification boundary. We evaluate our method using five text classification datasets.
