We automate live and dead forensic evidence gathering for MAC spoofer investigations and formalize its encoding in Forensic Lucid for subsequent reasoning. The monitoring covers a Faculty's network focusing on 1000 analyst-managed clients. We describe initial operational deployment of the MAC Spoofer Analyzer's evidence gathering components. We also highlight immediate and future concerns regarding the automation of the reasoning aspects behind the analyzer to aid network system administrators in their daily network security monitoring, management, and maintenance activities. © 2014 ACM.

Many important design problems involve the search for the global extremum in the space of the system parameters. The functions to be optimized in many engineering applications are multi-extremal, behave as a black-box with unknown analytical representations, and are hard to evaluate. Therefore, it is necessary to use efficient methods of global finite-dimensional optimization for solving these challenging problems. In this paper, some of these methods developed by the authors in the framework of Lips-chitz global optimization are briefly reviewed and compared with several widely-used nature-inspired algorithms. © Civil-Comp Press, 2014.

Recent advances have witnessed the success and popularity of cloud computing, which represents a new business model and computing paradigm. The feature of on-demand provisioning of computational, storage, and bandwidth resources has driven modern businesses into cloud services. The cloud is considered cutting edge technology and it is solely relied on by many large technology, business, and media companies such as Netflix or ***. However, in addition to the benefit at hand, security issues have been a long-term concern for cloud computing and are the main barriers of the widespread use of cloud computing. In this paper, we briefly describe some basic security concerns that are of particular interest to cloud technology. We investigate some of the basic cloud concepts and discuss cloud security issues. Amazon Web Services is used as a case study for discussing common cloud terminology. Data security, as well as some cloud specific attacks is introduced. The current state and the future progression of cloud computing is discussed.

This project explores a novel experimental setup towards building spoken, multi-modally rich, and human-like multiparty tutoring agent. A setup is developed and a corpus is collected that targets the development of a dialogue system platform to explore verbal and nonverbal tutoring strategies in multiparty spoken interactions with embodied agents. The dialogue task is centered on two participants involved in a dialogue aiming to solve a card-ordering game. With the participants sits a tutor that helps the participants perform the task and organizes and balances their interaction. Different multimodal signals captured and auto-synchronized by different audio-visual capture technologies were coupled with manual annotations to build a situated model of the interaction based on the participants personalities, their temporally-changing state of attention, their conversational engagement and verbal dominance, and the way these are correlated with the verbal and visual feedback, turn-management, and conversation regulatory actions generated by the tutor. At the end of this chapter we discuss the potential areas of research and developments this work opens and some of the challenges that lie in the road ahead. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2014

The participants were paired into teams based on their degree of extraversion as resulted from a personality test. With the participants sits a tutor that helps them perform the task, organizes and balances their interaction and whose behavior was assessed by the participants after each interaction. Different multimodal signals captured and auto-synchronized by different audio-visual capture technologies, together with manual annotations of the tutor's behavior constitute the Tutorbot corpus. This corpus is exploited to build a situated model of the interaction based on the participants' temporally-changing state of attention, their conversational engagement and verbal dominance, and their correlation with the verbal and visual feedback and conversation regulatory actions generated by the tutor.

We expand upon previous research that looked at the question: \Can graduating students design software systems?" Specifically we want to examine students' understanding of the phenomenon\produce a design." What does this instruction mean to them? In order to investigate student understandings, we examined their designs using a phenomenographic approach. Our outcome space includes six understandings: (0) the design a layman might produce;(1) a design with some formal notation;(2) a design that uses formal notations to express the static relationships among the parts;(3) a design that uses formal notation to express sequential (dynamic) information, but does not relate that to the static system parts;(4) a design that includes and relates multiple artifacts, both static and dynamic;and (5) a design that relaxes the notations and includes only essential artifacts. The last understanding was found only in our expert's design, and we do not expect it from undergraduates. Copyright © 2014 ACM.

This paper is concerned with the problem of tracking target with multiple sensors in the presence of unknown dynamic bias. A suboptimal adaptive two-stage Kalman filter(ATKF) is designed with two reduce-order filters to estimate the target state and the dynamic bias in parallel when the bias model information is incomplete. Moreover, a distributed adaptive two-stage Kalman filter(DATKF) is developed for multi-sensor system based on the ATKF. The effectiveness of the ATKF and the DATKF are illustrated by the Monte Carlo simulation results.

Requirements written in multiple languages can lead to error-proneness, inconsistency and incorrectness. In a Malaysian setting, software engineers are exposed to both Malay and English requirements. This can be a challenging task for them especially when capturing and analyzing requirements. Further, they face difficulties to model requirements using semi-formal or formal models. This paper introduces a new approach, Pair-Oriented Requirements engineering (PORE) that uses an Essential Use Case (EUC) model to capture and analyze multi-lingual requirements. This approach is intended to assist practitioners in developing correct and consistent requirements as well as developing teamwork skills. Two quasi-experiment studies involving 80 participants in the first study and 38 participants in a subsequent study were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach with respect to correctness and time spent in capturing multi-lingual requirements. It was found that PORE improves accuracy and hence helps users perform better in developing high quality requirements models. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

To verify and evaluate the performance of a space robot controller,kinematics and dynamics of the system have to be formed beforehand for computer *** paper is devoted to develop a new kinematic notation for space robots and to come up with an open source of Matlab subroutines for the propose of obtaining the proper dynamics equations of space robots in symbolic forms *** the new kinematic notation,we will present the general form and two special *** is then demonstrated through an example the advantages such as flexible assignment of frames on space robots,being able to describe multi-DOF joint and achieve a consistent description for multi-arm space *** the second part,we adopt the Lagrangian Formulation for forming the procedures to automatically generate the dynamics equations of space robots in symbolic *** example is then provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of closed-loop simulation adopting the obtained symbolic equations.

Organizations establish process models for different purposes and goals. However, they have in common issues concerning quality assurance and successful project management. Process models can be applied on different levels in process engineering, depending on whether processes are to be executed, defined or improved. Various individual methods and tools have been developed to help process engineers and members who are engineering and performing processes. These methods however do not support continuous integration into a process engineering lifecycle that consists of creating, defining, executing and improving processes. Therefore, we propose a holistic view of artifacts and activities in the process engineering lifecycle in an effort to create a consensus on what constitutes a process engineering lifecycle and take a look at recent research results covering the issues mentioned. We have identified approaches on process descriptions, on meta-models and on support in executing processes in the last years.
