This paper is devoted to the problem of state estimate of discrete-time stochastic systems with Markov jump parameters. A robust algorithm-diagonal interacting multiple model algorithm based on H_∞ filtering (DIMMH) is presented for maneuvering target tracking when measurement noise is of unknown statistics. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm.

SaaS (software-as-a-Service) often uses multi-tenancy architecture (MTA) where tenant developers compose their applications online using the components stored in the SaaS database. Tenant applications need to be tested, and combinatorial testing can be used. While numerous combinatorial testing techniques are available, most of them produce static sequences of test configurations and their goal is often to provide sufficient coverage such as 2-way interaction coverage. But the goal of SaaS testing is to identify those compositions that are faulty for tenant applications. This paper proposes an adaptive test configuration generation algorithm AR (Adaptive Reasoning) that can rapidly identify those faulty combinations so that those faulty combinations cannot be selected by tenant developers for composition. The AR algorithm has been evaluated by both simulation and real experimentation using a MTA SaaS sample running on GAE (Google App Engine). Both the simulation and experiment showed show that the AR algorithm can identify those faulty combinations rapidly. Whenever a new component is submitted to the SaaS database, the AR algorithm can be applied so that any faulty interactions with new components can be identified to continue to support future tenant applications.

This paper proposes a new algebraic system, Test Algebra (TA), for identifying faults in combinatorial testing for SaaS (software-as-a-Service) applications. SaaS as a part of cloud computing is a new software delivery model, and mission-critical applications are composed, deployed, and executed in cloud platforms. Testing SaaS applications is a challenging task because new applications need to be tested when they are composed before they can be deployed for execution. Combinatorial testing algorithms can be used to identify faulty configurations and interactions from 2-way all the way to k-way where k is the number of components in the application. The TA defines rules to identify faulty configurations and interactions. Using the rules defined in the TA, a collection of configurations can be tested concurrently in different servers and in any order and the results obtained will be still same due to the algebraic constraints.

The use of virtual cluster for High Performance Computing (HPC) work has a great benefit of hiding the complexity of physical infrastructure while providing a familiar HPC environment for users. Nevertheless, setting up one is still a challenging task for most users. In addition, the ability to span a virtual cluster across a multi-site cloud can even create a great potential for users to harness a much higher processing power from the cloud. In this paper, the development of a multi-site virtual cluster cloud is presented. This is done by providing the cloud infrastructures tailored specifically for virtual cluster deployment along with related utilities such as web-interface monitor and command line tools. To realize this infrastructure, an overlay network is created using Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology to merge every site into a single broadcast domain. Moreover, a Multi-tier VPN network topology is proposed to enhance the communication performance among the multi-site cloud. A smart virtual machine scheduling mechanism is introduced to reduce performance degradation caused by network delays. The experimental results show that the virtual cluster works well with highly parallel task with low communication among task. Thus, this technology can be used to support many classes of important HPC applications.

To improve the reading and writing speed of NAND flash array with multi-channel and multi-way, and to obtain the highest available bandwidth, an approach is presented in this paper. One mechanism of high efficiency bus accessing timing scheme based on interleaving is introduced into the approach. In pursuance of this timing, flash controllers are able to make every plane in the flash array to be active in parallel. Therefore the transmission ability to and from the bus can be greatly improved. Utilizing this approach, the accessing efficiency to the NAND flash array will be pushed to a very high level. According to the testing results, as opposed to normal flash bus timing scheme, the data reading efficiency can be increased by 68.5%, and the data writing efficiency can be increased by 457%, with the flash bus timing scheme presented in this paper being used. The conclusion can be drawn that the flash bus timing scheme presented in this paper is effective, and the reading and writing at very high speed to the NAND flash array can be realized.

The demand for increasing performance is a continuous trend in computing. Today's multi-core processors and future many-core processors require software developers to exploit concurrency in software as far as possible. To ease the task of developing concurrent software we present our Coordination-First approach and the coordination modelling language SCOPE that introduces the space-based choreography of processes, which internally orchestrate fine-grained workflow activities. The main contributions are (1) the Coordination-First approach that addresses the conformance to higher-level concurrency models in a standardised way by regarding the coordination model of a concurrent program as the first artefact in the software development process using model-driven software engineering techniques, (2) the coordination language SCOPE which conforms to the well-known BPMN 2.0 and differentiates between the space-based choreography of multiple concurrent process components and the orchestration of fine-grained activities within a single process component, and (3) the SCOPE workbench - an implementation of SCOPE based on the Xtext language framework to show the feasibility of our approach.

The volume of data archived in open source software project repositories makes automated, quantitative techniques attractive for extracting and analyzing information from these archives. However, many kinds of archival data include blocks of natural language text that are difficult to analyze automatically. This paper introduces a qualitative analysis method that is transparent and repeatable, leads to objective findings when dealing with qualitative data, and is efficient enough to be applied to large archives. The method was applied in a case study of developer and user forum discussions of an open source electronic medical record project. The study demonstrates that the qualitative repository mining method can be employed to derive useful results quickly yet accurately. These results would not be possible using a strictly automated approach. © 2012 IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

The application areas for Unmanned Aircraft (UA) systems (UAS) are constantly expanding. Aside from providing an attractive alternative in applications that are risky for humans, smaller UAS become highly attractive for applications where use of larger aircraft is not practical. This paper presents the UAS Collaboration Wireless Network (UAS-CWN), a secure and reliable UAS communication mesh-network. This solution is proposed for the circumstances where a large number of UAS are deployed to cooperatively accomplish a mission such as surveillance in hostile environments. The proposed UAS-CWN system provides high fault-tolerance through use of information dispersal algorithm and meanwhile reduces the risk of information exposure to the adversaries via security-enhancing mechanisms. Our evaluation shows promising results. Especially, a UAS-CWN with high security-level settings can withstand losing 30% of the total number of unmaned aircrafts while steadily achieving above 96% data recovery rate.

Currently, the complexity of embedded software is increased, hence, more efficient design approaches are demanded. Although component based design is well-defined for developing Embedded Real Time (ERT) systems, the design and implementation of ERT component software is slow and complex. Distributed ERT systems can reduce the complexity of a component and increase its reliability and re-usability as well. Currently, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an excellent technology for the implementation of distributed software. Some platforms are introduced to implement the components in SOA concept such as Service Component Architecture (SCA) and OSGI (Open Services Gateway Initiative). SCA provides a hierarchical component composition, distributed configurations and an interconnection with various means to design and combine services. However, SCA is unable to discover and reference services dynamically. In contrast, OSGI focuses on loading the service component. The services can be stopped, loaded and unloaded in frameworks supported by OSGI. Hence, this paper proposes an integration of SCA and OSGI to introduce a new framework for the implementation of distributed ERT systems. © 2012 IEEE.
